Beats was, for the most part, an extremely laid back ghost. He was content to wander from place to place without really bothering to call anywhere specific home. He had his boots with him, albeit dangling from around his neck by their lace, and that was more than enough as he went about his days in Halloween.

It was a listless, purposeless existence, probably even a waste but Beats didn't mind. And it was because he wasn't the least bit involved with the ongoing of Halloween Town that he ended up getting lost. Which didn't really frighten him. He'd probably just end up getting dissipated and he'll be back in Halloween Town in no time!

So for now, he was going to explore this strange place of trees.

Patrolling around the camp was still sort of a new thing for Gale, especially since they were supposed to be pretending to be reapers. His hunter coat had been safely stuffed away in some cabin that he was going to be staying in, and instead Gale was dressed in just a simple outfit consisting of khaki pants, a dress shirt, and a dark blue sweater - also known as just his usual clothing.

It felt weird, but at least he still had Jinhai. And Oliver, whom he'd snagged on impulse as he'd left the camp to go wandering.

"I think I saw something just up ahead," Gale said now, in a low voice to the other hunter. He crept forward, frowning slightly, Jinhai not summoned but inside of his head, coiled and quiet. "Do you see anything, Oliver?"

Oliver shook his head, trailing along behind the blonde hunter with a nervous expression that suggested he expected the worst to happen. This was his first time actually leaving the main camp, and despite his small-town familiarity with deep forests, there was still far too many unknowns for the anxious Intermediate.

It didn't help that he also had to leave his coat behind. With it's pockets packed with useful things for any situation, the white jacket was a veritable toolkit in addition to a security blanket. The almost cute dinosaur hoodie he now wore, green with yellow spikes running from the top of the hood down his back, couldn't come close to carrying everything he might need.

Suddenly a movement did catch his attention, a horizontal movement between the tree trunks just to the left of their current heading. He froze.

"Ah, l-left!" Oliver squeaked, his voice barely above a whisper.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Unaware, or perhaps purposely oblivious, Beats wasn't even bothering to hide himself. In fact he was even humming something. It wasn't something the haunt knew exactly but the melody might sound familiar to others. Beats had never bothered to ask anyone about and figured it was just one of those things about being a ghost.

He continued to levitate, careful to avoid one too many low-hanging branches that might snag as his boots. The footwear had so far been the one thing Beats would legitimately freak out over. Reapers certainly didn't fit into that category so if he noticed anyone else there, Beats didn't indicate this.

Oliver's expression of pained anxiousness was something Gale sort of expected by now, not that he didn't have some sympathies. He rather liked him, at any rate; the guy was kind and gentle, even if he was also shy, and Gale rather thought that there needed to be more people like him.

Gale whipped around, even as Oliver gasped out the direction.

"Remember," he whispered. "We're reapers."

It was not a hunter. The creature that floated towards them looked vague and distracted, bobbing along as though it wasn't even seeing them. Gale cast a glance at Oliver, then back at the creature, and cleared his throat.

"Ah, hello there," he said, careful to keep his voice level. "Who might you be?"

Oliver nodded, despite his anxieties they were indeed, for this mission, reapers. He let Gale do the talking and settled for simply observing the pale, floating creature. It almost seemed... unconcerned. If Oliver listened closely he could hear the ghostly creature humming, and began to wonder if it would simply ignore them altogether and keep on drifting past.

The freckled kid didn't expect they would be so lucky, so he took a deep breath and struggled to find his best calm, un-frightened expression. Perhaps it was even okay to be a bit curious. If the creature was lost, it might even welcome their help instead of reacting in a hostile way.
