12 hours after "I walked alone"
early morning
Tri circled the sleepy village, looking for a break in the fliers before diving down for a landing. He was exhausted, between the large teleport and the flight he wanted to sleep but Hexxis might be already here.
This village was one of the few places he could almost blend in normally, which he was trying to do while keeping an eye out for anyone looking in their direction to closely or...extended family.
Landing he waited for Zaku for a few seconds as he oriented himself and started walking toward the house he had marked as Hexxis's return point if she hit break down.
If Ree was right... then she must have hit it. The question was why she was with Ree? how she had find him or him her. That is what he wanted to know... wanted to call back right now and ask. He still could if they waited a few days? He had no other leads other than to wait...west from Belrad could be anywhere but if Ree's scolding was anything to go by it was highly likely she hit breakdown.
Looking up he paused again waiting for the muse. Slowly he was starting to wait for the muse to reach him instead of forcing the muse to catch up with him all the time.

Zaku looked more than exhausted, but didn't give up. Utilizing each rest point to full advantage before pushing himself to keep up with Tri. With how things were going, he didn't want to waste any time on his own weaknesses.
As they finally landed in Hinale, he stumbled as feet touched the ground, actually falling forward to his hands and knees out of breath. Thankfully the sun was rising and that would boost his energy back up enough to keep moving until he could eventually rest.
Pushing himself to a stand, he staggered then exhaled deeply. Saying nothing, he merely followed Tri. He appeared to know the way or at least had an idea of what to look for here.

Tri looked back at him with a hint of a frown as he watched the muse fall on his hand and knees. He almost went back to help him but his arm froze in mid motion as he changed it to a fist and pulled it back in. He wasn't supposed to care, not at all.
Still he waited long enough for Zaku to get up before he lead the way, slowing slightly but still keeping ahead of him as he lead the way through dawning village with obvious familiarity.
He slowed as two angels were muttering about an unstable brown hair girl wielding a sword taking out a bunch of Criel's own forces.
"It concerns me how easily Criel came calling...I bet you that's a lie they gave the news to keep us calm. "
"Yea, Hey remember the video in Norcrest? That they had that Elf ..uh... the who created the metas? "
"That was Haven...but Criel works closely with them. I hope we don't have another war..." that one muttered as the other agreed with a nod as they walked out of range.
Tri stayed still, wings drooped around him as he glanced over at Zaku, seeing what he thought but his heart was already pounding with fear for Hexxis. A brown hair girl with a sword taking down criel forces... could be someone else he hoped it was someone else.

Zaku kept pace, a hand over his stomach where it hurt the most and a general sense of exhaustion hitting him from all angles. Listening to the rumors as they walked, he suddenly picked up pace despite the pain to walk side-by-sude with Tri. "...it's too coincidental to ignore... we need to find where they took that girl... if Hexxis isn't where you think she might be. Make sure it wasn't her." he spoke quietly to him, his voice serious and his expression stoic but concerned.

The adrenaline pumping through his body was quickly shaking off the feeling of exhaustion as he picked up his pace. "To coincidental... " he repeated as he started thinking what could be done to search her of Criel had her. How long ago? where did they go? None of this was helping him.
Pulling out his phone he switched over to local news then glance over at Zaku now and then, gauging how much further he could go. They were still two blocks away and right now he was tempted to fly there but he wasn't sure the muse could make. "They said it was on the news..maybe they said where they went..or if there are any injured we could go ...visit"

"No. Any injured would be healed or transfered by now... And they wouldn't release where theyd take her." He was looking around as he suddenly turned down an alleyway and moved to a backdoor and put his back against the side of the door frame and knocked on the door softly in a pattern. The door opened a jar and piercing orange eyes stared at Zaku. "I heard there was a situation with a girl running around with a sword and was taken by criel. How long ago did that happen and where did they take her?" There was a long pause as the eyes shifted, narrowed, then looked back to Zaku.
"Last night. She was screaming for help but there were too many criel goons to try and step in. Any way, they took her toward the west... So my bet is on the off sight."
Zaku nodded, "Thank you."
"You know you could always come back..."
"Thanks, but I'll pass. I have something else in doing now. The fight isn't over, but sometimes life has different plans for us. I wish you luck." The eyes seemed the bow and the door closed. Zaku pushed off the wall and took flight to the west. "Let's hurry."

Tri sighed softly but agreed with the assessment, they were far behind what happened here. Where to next?.
He turned his head sharply as Zaku moved away from him and entered an allyway and stopped at the back door. Silver eyes narrowed slightly but he slowed his steps and stopped at the entrance of the alleyway where it gave him a good view of who passed and good angle of hearing. It was for Hexxis..... it was for Hexxis. He closed his eyes momentarily then opened them again and stared out into the early morning dawn.
He cast a quick glance back at Zaku in time to see the eyes moving into a bow and there was a faint flicker of a frown as he turned his gaze back to Zaku. Nodding he stepped out of the alleyway and took wing following after Zaku with a faint grimace of pain spreading across his wings.
They respected Zaku, that was not something he was thinking other from the outside of those within the EE and murder squad doing. They would take him back....why didn't he take the twins and go? why did he keep trying to stay with him...and he wasn't even trying to get him to join them either.
Shaking his head he focused on Hexxis and the fact she was taken by Criel and the only clue they had was a direction. West....the ocean a couple of islands...boats or a camp?
Stretching his wings out further he moved to catch up with Zaku, eyeing the grown below them and the shadows...shadows?. Hm...

As they made it closer to the shore, there was a small drop off that broke to the beach below it. Flying down, he landed to show a metal door in the side of the drop off. The paint on it said 'High Voltage Electrical Equipment. Do not Enter.' "This place was discovered by the Renegades years ago as an off site for an NBR location..." he explained, turning to look at Tri. "New Beginnings Research... a Haven facility. They think she's being held here..."
Zaku moved to twist the locked door handle, trying it a second time to get it open and moving inside. A stairwell that led downward into a standard research center. Surprisingly, there was no one there as far as staff and there were several patient rooms down one coordiror.

Tri grit his teeth in pain but landed a little after him and stared silently at the door as the ocean roared behind them. Glancing back toward it he looked back at the door and watched Zaku start trying to open the door. "W-wait. What are you doing?" he asked harshly but quietly as he moved after him and attempted to grab his arm. He did so even if he was reluctant to just enter, what had just been described to be an offshoot of Haven.
Hexxis might be there but they would be of no help if they were trapped down there! especially when they had to have some security other than an electrical sign and likely the rest of the criel force that went after Hexxis. "Security" he said narrowing his eyes at Zaku. Damn it was to late anyways....if there was any cameras or alarms they would have been set off already.

Zaku was far more determined than to stop here, willing to burn whatever luck he had just to make sure they got to Hexxis. Although, Tri grabbing his arm, he blinked and looked back. s**t, security. He was better than this. Damn the fatigue. He was about to brace for what would be Criel forces and alarms and gunfire. But there was only silence. Was she not here? Was the information wrong?
Taking a slow breath, he nodded to Tri and moved into the building slowly, keeping his senses as alert as possible for anything that would warrant any kind of alarm. Yet, the only alarming part of it was that is was eerie quiet. No noise, nothing at all. It didn't seem like anyone was here. Staff or patient. Zaku narrowed his eyes. Something felt very off but he couldn't put his finger on it.

When he saw the realization on Zaku's face he nodded even as his stomach dropped. He had been hoping the muse had rushed in knowing something he didn't. Slowly he let go of Zaku as turned his attention back to the corridor... this was wrong, very wrong. Not even one guard staying to make sure they didn't do what they just did?
"Wait..." he said very quietly and split his shadow from him in the shape of a bird that floated silently down the corridor and into each patient door if he could. He doubted she would be there, so close to the entrance but they might still find something...like a trap.

[TW: blood, written gore]
Zaku looked to Tri and nodded, halting at the command and watching him split himself into a shadowed bird as it flew off.
The first patient room actually looked like it had been recently used, monitors still on as there was a table with straps in the middle of the room and a set up of machine attached to it that sent high voltage currents to whoever was strapped down into the mechanism. The room, however, was empty.
The next several rooms were empty as well.
It wasn't until the second to last room that the bird would find why the facility was empty. The first notable sight of this room was the amount of blood, followed quickly by the sight of Hexxis' cold body left sprawled on the floor on her side with her own sword shoved through her chest from the front piercing through her lung as it appeared she'd been bleeding out, dark almost black blood pooled up around her body. Eyes half open as blood and tears covered her face and her hands were covered in blood.
Further inspection of the room would only display even more gruesome of a scene. Someone had been strapped to the lone table within, a dark-skinned arm still attached to one of the wrist straps, severed haphazardly at the shoulder, a cleaver still wedged deep into the metal of the table where it had been detached. And two legs that attached in the same fashion to the ankle restraints, cleanly cut just above the knees. There was a small stand of instruments where there was a bloody scalpel, and on the floor was a large knife also covered in blood.
Hexxis wasn't moving as she lay there in the silence of the room.

Tri said nothing, trusting Zaku to keep an eye out as he focused on what the bird was seeing. Quickly moving through the rooms before reaching the last room and letting out a very audible gasp as he took off running toward the room. Forgetting everything else as he shoved the door opened and moved to Hexxis, his breath coming in fast as he struggled to stay focused as he knelt in her blood, reaching out to find a pulse even if he knew he would find none, not with the blood or the wound. "Hexxis...." he said ever so softly.

Zaku showed a flicker of alarm as Tri took off running, quickly darting behind him, as he silently prayed in his mind. But when Tri threw open the door and ran to Hexxis, Zaku's heart sank. Taking in only a glimpse of the scene before running to Hexxis' other side as he stared in fear, hoping Tri found a pulse.
Her body was eerily still, her grayed eyes void of life as there was no pulse to be found. There was blood that had dried down her mouth like she had been struggling to breathe before it ceased completely. It was difficult to tell whether she had died from suffocation or blood loss but it was now very clear she was no longer alive.
Zaku covered his mouth, trying to hold back tears as he looked away. This was difficult to look at, the mortality of it all. It wasn't long before he was denying this, moving his hands to her heart and sending healing to her. Anything, any hope at all to bring her back. They had done it before, hadn't they? Maybe.. maybe if he focused everything he had, he could bring her back. He couldn't let her die in a place like this, reasoning with himself as if there was any possibility to save her.

His breath hitched as he held back tears as he felt nothing under his fingers, he expected it but had to try. Pulling his hand back he stared dully at Zaku as the muse tried to heal her, the only thing he could assume he was doing. It wouldn't work this time... last time it was Ashral, Zaku's luck he assumed and more healers and not ... hours later. Hours that they were so behind because they had no idea where to go.
Silently he reached down and closed her eyes before looking at Zaku and grabbing both of his hands with one of his own hand. "She's gone...." he stated with raw pain on his face and in his voice, holding back tears as he stared at Hexxis's body before moving it closer. "Move, closer i'm going to teleport" his voice broke for a moment but he clenched his teeth right after as he sent his senses out to the farthest shadow he could find, pulling others shadows into the area they were in.
