(Still waiting for her cert. I'll replace this when it arrives.)

Fortune it appeared had smiled on Imani today. The sun was nearing it's peak in the sky, a light cooling breeze was rolling through the lush outcropping of jungle she had been lucky enough to stumble upon the night before to take shelter under. To top it all off - gods be praised finally the heavy rains that had been seemingly endless had finally dried! For a solid week now they had continued to push her forward beyond her normal limits just to find somewhere warm, dry and most importantly not already occupied! Now she finally had a chance to take a break from her travels. Despite her normal nomadic standards of picking up and continuing forward once dawn broke Imani decided on a rare change of pace. Today, to put it bluntly was going to be one hell of a lazy day in the sun.

Or at least that's what the plan was.

With a thunk her thick body flopped down to the ground. "Mmm, this is something I could get use to" she purred under her breath happily. Her cream legs stretched out beside her. Soft pops of stress coming from her sore joints as she finally could work out the kinks this past week's traveling had built up. Oh, if only there was a nice spring or even a river to be able to soak her paws in! "Now that would be heaven." Imani let out a weary sigh as she relaxed her body, a hint of a smile tugging at her face as she became increasingly lost in her own thoughts.

(( Tis cool I don't have a cert for him either lolol))

Chaji was also glad that the rains seemed to have finally stopped for the moment. The fluffy pink lion usually didn't mind the wet so much - his thick fur keeping the water off his skin for the most part. But even his fur had its limits and he was very glad the sun was finally out. He didn't have anywhere in particular to call home, though he tended to stick around one area or another for a while.

Currently, he had found a nice spot with a bit of an overhang and a lot of trees and bushes nearby for his ... experiments. Anyone he showed them to tended to think he was a bit odd, so lately he had stopped trying to explain. He just quietly went about gathering various leaves and flowers to put in water inside a bowl-like piece of wood that he had found. During the hottest part of the day the water would start steaming slightly... and afterwards, it tasted different.

It was interesting to him, and he didn't really care who thought it was weird. Right now, he was trying to find and memorize the best flavors and combinations of plants. So, padding along with a bunch of leaves sticking out of his mouth, he was startled to hear a voice.

Stuttering to a halt, he peered around a nearby tree and spotted a lioness not too far away. Tilting head, Chaji spit out his mouthful of leaves and padded around the tree. "What would be heaven..?" he asked - not too concerned about the possibility of a fight. Most others took one look at his thick frame and backed off.

Sweet mother of mercy!

The lioness's reflexes snapped to action at the startling deep voice that broke violently through her thoughts.

It was, of course, just her luck that her reflexes when shooting her upwards to whomever jolted her did not take into account the fallen branch that up until now had been acting as a wonderful wind breaker. A branch that her face was granted the privilege of meeting face-to-face with. The string of colorful curses masked the loud sickening crack echoing from her nose upon impact. Well, almost at least.

Hissing sharply Imani smacked her paw up to her muzzle only to quickly pull it back to inspect the liquid coating her pads.

Hmm, it appeared she had broken her nose, or at least broken a blood vessel in it. She was going with the former just based on the sheer amount of blood now pouring from her nose. Well, wasn't that just peachy.

The flash of pink that had caused this situation in the first place caught her eye, reminding her that she had a guest to attend to and couldn't very well sulk in her own pity party for long! Not only that but she had been asked a question before hand, hadn't she?

Sighing softly she craned her head around, giving the - quite colorful if she did say so - male a glance over to check for any sign of hostility. With a stature and weight like his one had to be wary if they decided to go towards the dominate male side of the spectrum or if they preferred the more gentle giant side of things. After all one well placed swipe if things decided to get ugly could easily prove fatal to the rather small lioness.

It seemed though she was lucky enough that this one was more on the latter side. Thank the gods for small favors!

Still, even if she was in pain there was no good reason to be rude and ignore the fellow! "Heaven honestly right now would be having something to plug up this damn bleeding with."

With a cocked eyebrow her gaze drifted down to the array of leaves laying at his feet. Well well well now, those certainly would be useful to fix her little problem for the time being till she could find something better. Though judging at the fact he took the time and effort to carefully pick them she would guess he had a intended purpose in mind for them. Still, it was better to be safe than sorry. You couldn't know after all unless you asked in the first place. Even so if he had his own uses for the leaves there might be a way she could convenience him to part with a few of them.

Lifting her paw from her face she crooked a claw at the pile at his feet. "Might if I ask if you're planning on using those or can I put them to good use?"

The male's mouth fell open as the lioness jumped so hard she managed to smack her nose into a tree branch. Erm, and oh dear, that was a lot of blood. Backing up a small bit, Chaji waited for her to get hold of herself - wondering the whole time if he should just perhaps... leave her be. Eventually, though, she did answer his question - though he suspected it wasn't exactly the answer she would have given before the branch-in-face incident.

"I am so sorry! I didn't mean to startle you," he blurted out first, ducking his head a little. "It's just... been a while since anyone else was around here." At the mention of the plants he'd been gathering, the pink lion blinked in surprise. Put them to good use? Did she know how to make flavored water too?

"Ah, I was going to use them, but it's all right. You can have these and I can get more," he quickly replied, pushing them toward her with a paw. If nothing else, he could apologize like this.

Well, at least if she was spooked face first into a tree at least the culprit was polite and being very pleasant about the whole ordeal!

Sniffing softly she lifted her head back up to encourage more of the blood to flow into the back of her throat after seeing his rather taken back reaction. It would at least make her appear more presentable for the time being. She had encountered some in her travels that had a weak stomach to the sight and smell of blood. Especially coming from anything other than a pray animal. Judging by his body language Imani couldn't honestly tell if this was the case or if he was simply still reeling from the surprise of the whole situation. That was something she was not going to take a gamble on however. The last thing she wanted to deal with at the moment was possibility comforting a male triggered by heavy amounts of blood!

"It's quite alright. If anything me being in this mess right now is my fault. I shouldn't have let myself drift away so hard." Nodding her head in thanks she scooped a good chunk of the foliage up with her paw gently rolling the leaves into balls between her toes. "Thank you. I appreciate your kindness. If you want I'll gladly assist you in gathering replacements once these plug set?"

Pausing for a moment now that the first step in her crude medical prep was complete she turned her attention back towards him. "Um, you might want to turn around or at the very least look down. This can get...messy."

Manda
xD You shocked the hell out of me replying so quickly!
PostPosted: Sun Jan 22, 2017 1:14 pm

Chaji nodded back and watched curiously as she scooped the herbs toward her. "Ah, sure. If you want to, that would be nice," he quickly replied to her offer to help her gather more. Soon enough, he realized that she probably had no idea about the whole... making water taste different. She just wanted to use them to plug up the bleeding. Which was understandable, really. He just couldn't help but feel a momentary disappointment. He shook it off quickly, though. Perhaps he could show her the water! That was almost as good.

He blinked when the lioness spoke again - his turn to be startled out of his own thoughts. "Oh, ah. Of course," he murmured. Though blood didn't really bother him, he could tell she was trying to be nice and the least he could do was play along. So he scooted around until he was facing away from her, and waited.

Manda

"It's no problem at all. I didn't have any exciting plans cued up for the rest of the day anyways. It's the least I can do to replenish your supply!" She couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at the brief flash of disappointment that he expressed. Was he expecting a different response from her? Perhaps he was one of those dark loner types and he didn't want her aid in gathering leaves? Course he didn't seem that sort of type. But he was of course a stranger. Who know's what was going through his head.

She hoped that at some point she would learn what caused the sudden disapproval. Otherwise her curiosity was going to eat at here nonstop!

With a patient smile she waited until he scooted himself fully around before getting to work. Lowering herself down onto her belly she carefully picked up one of the crude plugs she had finished moments before between two of her toes. She would have to be mindful of her claws least she added accidental stabbing to the list of injuries!

Sucking in a sharp breath Imani lifted her paw to her muzzle. The claws on her free paw dug into the ground to help manage the pain as she wiggled the ball into her nostril. With a sharp yelp mixed with the sickening crunch of cartilage snapping into place the first plug had finally been pushed into place!

Now all she had to do is repeat that torture all over again! Ha, that was easier said than done. Her face wrinkled up in disgust at thought.

Luckily the second plug had fit into place much easier. The top portion of her muzzle was already numb. If Imani had to guess she most likely had mistakenly blocked a nerve shoving the first plug in. That or her body was going into shock. Neither option were a good thing. She logged a quick note in the back of her mind to find a trained medic ASAP to get her nose looked at. But for the time being she wasn't going to argue for the pain relief. Dealing with the harsh repercussions of not having a proper working nose was something she was going to let her future self deal with.

With a small test sniffle she quietly spit out the blood clots that had formed in the back of her mouth. Bring up the back of her paw she wiped away as much of the blood on her face as she could. Ugh. This was disgusting. Honestly how in all hell did healers manage to deal with this kind of stuff every day!?

Lifting her head back up she made sure to keep her nose pointed sky wards until the plugs had their time to fully expand and stop the bleeding fully. "Alright, everything is all good. Thank you again for letting me use these. They are literally a lifesaver." She might sound nasally and goofy but hey at least she wasn't a walking horror movie anymore.

With a gentle smile she slowly lifted herself back onto all fours. "Now I do believe I owe you a debt, good sir. Please feel free to lead the way to where ever you found these plants?"

Chaji patiently looked in the other direction as the lioness did... whatever she was doing with his herbs. He winced slightly in sympathy at her yelp of pain, wishing for a moment that he knew how to do other things with herbs - like healing. Or at least how to make flavored water that maybe took pain away..? Getting lost in thought for a moment, he tried to think of any point where the water he made had done anything like that. Maybe ...? Hm.

As it was, he jumped just slightly when the lioness spoke again, startled from his wanderings. "Oh ah. You're welcome," he replied, spinning around again quickly - trying to look like he'd been paying attention. Spotting some blood still on her face, though, he tilted head. "Do you want to wash that off first...? There is a small stream near where I've been staying."

Heh. So it seems that she had a day dreamer on her hands. He couldn't fool someone who did the same thing. Honestly Imani couldn't fault him for not paying attention. The sounds of setting a nose back in place made even strong stomachs twist.

Though she couldn't help but shake that she had offended him in someway. That or if he was an extreme introvert. Both cases she could completely understand and respect is decision, though if it was the former she would have loved to know what she did wrong so she could apologize.

"Oh my gods YES PLEASE. I didn't even know that there was a stream nearby. Offering a good bath and drink is a man after my own heart."

Okay, he really had to stop wandering off in thought! It was clear that she had noticed that time... and he couldn't tell if she was really okay with it, or maybe secretly laughing at him a little? Either way, he couldn't really blame her, or get upset about it. What would be the point?

Instead, he nodded and got up to his paws. "No problem at all, it's this way." After walking for a little while, he spotted one of the plants that he knew for sure made a nice taste and padded over to carefully pull a few of them up. Carrying the flowers in his mouth, he continued to the stream where he set them down and gestured with a paw at the water. "Here we are~"

Getting up she flashed a mild smile his way to hopefully calm his nerves before obediently following after him. She watched with interest as he would stop and pick flowers in his mouth. Clicking her tongue she stopped herself, grabbing some of the same flowers or at least the same in the bunch in her mouth before bounding after him.

Settling down at the bank of the stream she set the flowers that she had collected at his side. Hopefully it would be the start of repaying her debt off to him! Though she wasn't sure if she even picked any flowers that would be useful to him or if she just picked weeds. But she was trying at the very least. "Ah, this looks lovely. It's truly a hidden gem in this harsh region." Sliding forward she cautiously dipped her back paws into the water before letting out a wispy sigh of pleasure. Now this is what her feet needed! "So, now that we're settled and not dealing with a injury crisis. I think a proper introduction is long overdue. I'm Imani, who might you be?"

Manda

Ooh, had he not introduced himself yet? Whoops, that was kind of rude. "Oh sorry! I'm Chaji, it's nice to meet you," he replied with a small nod of his head. Then he padded over to a small tree and picked up a hollowed out half of a gourd. He came to this stream often so he already had supplied, which was good. Going to the water, he carefully filled it, then set it down in a nice sunny spot.

"If you're wondering why I was collecting the plants... well, uhm. This might sound kind of silly. But if you soak them in water that the sun warms up, it makes the water taste different." As he talked, he moved over to the flowers and carefully picked off several leaves and some petals with his claws, then dropped them into the water in the gourd.

"No need to apologize, we both got caught up in the moment." She smiled warmly at him to attempt to calm any nerves he might have had, before continuing on. "Well, despite a rather dramatic start it's a pleasure to meet you as well, Chaji!"

Imani watched with interest as he gathered his necessary supplies back up. "I was wondering that, yes. Though I assumed you were some sort of herbalist or medic to be honest." Raising an eyebrow her attention drew downwards towards the crude gourd he had made. Huh. Could be the reason why such a sweet smell was clogging up her senses. "That isn't silly at all. I've never heard of someone doing such a thing with leaves before but I am intrigued! Does it some time for the flavor to set in or is it pretty instant? I would love the chance to try a cup if you wouldn't mind?"

The male smiled instantly at her acceptance of his strange habits and watched a little proudly as she inspected his concoction. "This one doesn't take that long, really. But the flavor gets stronger if I leave it in the sun for longer. I'm not sure why..." He trailed off, wandering away in thought for a moment. He was still trying to figure everything out, but he considered his experimenting a success so far.

Snapping back to the present, he shook his mane out slightly. "I ... have found that some of them do strange things. Like make me very relaxed, or really energetic. I had not thought of trying to use them like medicines. But watching you use those herbs earlier... maybe that's something I could try."

"Hm, perhaps I wasn't really that far off the mark with the whole herbalist thing. That process honestly sounds a lot like what they do when they grind up plants. It apparently lets out the oils and natural minerals locked away inside the herbs. Perhaps setting it in the sun does something similar?"

Her smile turned more strained as he described what affects took hold. She worried about him perhaps trying out the wrong plant kind and having some extreme affects that he wasn't expecting. She had seen others in her travels do the same thing and become addicted to the feeling, most of them ended up strung-out pitiful things. She truly hoped that the same fate wouldn't behold this fellow, he seemed like a decent bloke in her eyes.

"Well, it certainly sounds like you have a interesting hobby! You might want to look into finding a herbalist to apprentice under, it could open a whole new set of doors for you! If you perfect the art I'm sure you could make a mighty fine business for yourself, if that is something in your interests of course."
