Name: Asheryn (Ash, Asher) Age: 16 Sex: Female Sexual Orientation: Bisexual Craft: Beastcraft Rank: Apprentice Location: High Reaches Weyr - previously Keroon Physical Description: Asheryn is about average height at five feet seven inches. She has short, wavy (and rather messy) black hair and hazel eyes. She has a small scar on her lower right jaw that bothers her sometimes. Ash is seemingly perpetually smiling, so much so that her family often wondered if her face was stuck that way. Her skin is a light tan color due to the amount of time she's spent outside during her life. She's slender, but built solidly and has strong arms and legs. She prefers to wear shirts with no sleeves, and in darker colors. She has a favorite pair of black boots that she wears everywhere. For Gathers, she'll dress up if she's forced to, otherwise she'd rather wear trousers and a tunic. Personality: [+] Friendly She loves to make friends, and will be nice to everyone unless they give her a reason not to be. Though she's nice to almost everyone, Asher really only has a few close friends. [+] Loyal Once she's decided to trust someone, which doesn't take much, she expects them to be as loyal to her as she is to them. She holds trust in very high regard, and hers is easily gained. If it's ever broken, it's near impossible for the breaker to regain it. She takes being trusted seriously, and will not tell anything that was told to her in confidence, unless it's something that could very seriously hurt someone. In that instance, she feels it's better for the situation to be handled by a trusted adult with more experience. The other person might be mad at first, but in her own limited experience, she has found it better in the long run. [+] Curious She's also very curious. She can't help sticking her nose where it probably shouldn't be, and usually gets scolded for doing so. That does not, however, stop her from doing it again. And again. She does understand that not everyone likes for random people to be curious about their business, and it won't upset her a bit to be told to mind her own. [-] Short Tempered She does have a semi short temper and the ability to hold grudges for a long time. Her temper is sparked more by arguments (especially when she knows she's right) and her trust being broken. However, if it turns out that Ash was the one in the wrong, she'll apologize. It might take her a LONG time, but she will apologize. [-] Stubborn To a fault. Once she's made a decision about something she'll stick to it, even if she's proven wrong. She has been known to relent before, but it takes a lot of persuasion. She's gotten into arguments with friends and family because of her stubbornness, but never to the extent of damaging the relationship permanently. Usually after she's gotten a chance to cool down she sees that he was wrong, if she was, and will apologize. [-]Reckless She doesn't always think before she speaks or does things. If she gets an idea in her head, she'll usually just go for it unless someone stops her. When she was a child, a boy she thought was a friend told her she'd be able to fly if she tied her blanket around her neck. Needless to say, she could not fly and ended up with a broken arm. Since then, she has learned...a degree of self-preservation, but it doesn't always show up. History: Born the fourth of six children of a Healer mother and a Beastcrafter father, Asheryn has always been fascinated by animals of all kinds but most especially dragons. It wasn't until she was seven that she saw her first dragon up close and personal. A green and her rider came to Keroon to assist with a pack of wild felines preying on the smaller beasts. Afterward, the rider and dragon allowed Asheryn (along with other children of the Hold) to touch and ask questions. From a young age, Asheryn helped her father care for the larger herdbeasts and learned everything she could from him before apprenticing at age eight in the Beastcraft Hall. At age nine, one of the other Hall children told her if she tied a blanket around her neck, she'd be able to fly. Well, she tried it. She broke her arm and stopped speaking to that particular boy. She learned a lesson about being reckless and believing everything she hears. At age ten she was just beginning to learn how to care for wherries and accidentally stressed one out, causing the wherry to scratch her jaw with its claws. The deepest cut needed stitches and still ended up scarring her face but she doesn't mind it so much. She thinks it makes her look cool. When she was fifteen, a Search rider came to Keroon. Asheryn was headed into the mess hall for lunch when the rider stopped her and informed her that she had been Searched. Eyes wide, Asheryn blurted out that of course she would come to the Weyr to be a candidate and thanked the rider, coincidentally the very same woman who had helped the Hold Turns before, before rushing to her parents and excitedly telling them the news. Her father, oldest sister, and youngest brother were excited for her, but her mother worried about the dangers of dragon riding. Ardyn spent the time Asheryn had left at Keroon making sure her daughter knew the most common illnesses and injuries as well as their remedies, most of which had already been drilled into Asheryn's head as daughter and sister to three Healers. Other: Nope~
Candidate Specific Questions Do you want them to have an official Search RP? Naw~ Do you understand they will age every passing year regardless if you're there to RP the or not? Yes Do you want them to have a possible Stands Impression? No

I'm only focusing on the history portion now and will do a full critique/approval after you write it up. Generally speaking, a lot of what you lined out should work with Pern.
A few things to note/adjust: Pern doesn't actually have chickens. What they have are things called wherries. In Echoes of Pern there are a whole variety of wherries, from song-wherres (small and similar to songbirds), wild wherries, sea wherries, and plains wherries. Wherries are bird like, but have six four legs, and two wings, like much of Pern's animal population. Wherries are commonly eaten, and common kept penned up or cooped up for human and dragon consumption.
Candidates also aren't something a child can ask to become. It's entirely dependent on a dragon and rider finding them on Search and nobody knows what makes a dragon pick one child over another. Some folks who seem like they'd be obvious material in the books (Menolly or even Robinton when he was younger) were never officially found. So it's very rare and almost unlikely for someone to be found. . . which is what makes the actual act of it happening so special.
"Asher finally convinces her parents to allow her to try being a Candidate at nearby Ancalime Weyr". First off, Ancalime Weyr isn't an actual Weyr on Pern. So that would have to be switched to one of our PC Weyrs, High Reaches or Western. Secondly, again, her parents would have no say over whether or not she can become a Candidate. She would have to be found on Search officially by a dragonrider, and be offered the opportunity. It is 100% up to her whether she accepts or not -- her parents could object all they want but it would be up to Asheryn.
She can't have a firelizard at present since we don't have firelizard lines ready and they must first be obtained before you can give a character one. If she wants a brown flit you'll have to wait to try to win one once the shop officially has them available, and have her Impress after you get the lines/at the Weyr.
So, ultimately, I feel like you'll need a few more things in her history. I think you'll need to have menton of her going into the Beastcraft. What age did she begin as an apprentice? Did she go officially to the Beastcraft Hall or did she begin learning locally through her parents and then go off to the Hall? Her location makes it convenient enough for her to still be around her family throughout her studies.
Also, I feel like she needs to officially be Searched by an NPC rider. Was it the same rider/dragon she met when younger, or was it another rider? Did she accept right away or did she have to think about it? How did her family respond to the news?
Some tings to think about, hope that helps!

Thanks for the help! I think I fixed everything you pointed out! Let me know if I missed anything or if there's anything I need to fix. It's been a while since I read the books and the shop Asheryn started in was a lot different x3 It had an entirely made up/re-imagined setting which is where Ancalime Weyr came from :3 Thanks again 8'D
