NAME : Evren Candemir
GENDER : Nonbinary (he/him pronouns, but is fine with anything used respectfully)
AGE : 27
OCCUPATION : Stuntperson for the GTV production company. He’s best known for his work in the long-running kids’ show Masqued Marauder, in which he performs action scenes as Neo Masque.
RACE : Human (Turkish ancestry)
LIKES : Heroes, kids, live performances, helping out, reading, ninja training, holidays
DISLIKES : Real-life villains, being ignored, coffee, Zurg, fancy restaurants, sleeping late
LOOKS : Tall, lean, athletic. Not super-muscled or anything, but he works out regularly, so he’s probably got some tone. Shoulder-length hair that’s braided and tucked out of the way when in costume, likes to change up hairstyles other times, but a simple ponytail is the most convenient, and therefore the most common. Wears relaxed clothing that’s easy to move in, with comfortable shoes and some layering to allow for temperature shifts. Doesn’t think too much about appearances, I think, but goes with what’s fun. Definitely has several shirts of the Masque, and more from Masqued Marauder. Likes scarves because they’re like mini-capes. Carries a big black backpack even when he’s just going grocery shopping.
PERSONALITY : The picture of heroism, or at least, Ev’s very idealized picture of heroism: warm, open, encouraging, and always willing to offer his assistance, because with teamwork and ingenuity, any problem can be solved! Or so he wants desperately to believe. Evren is a bleeding heart and can’t stand to see others sad or in pain, but his hamfisted help has a tendency to make matters worse, and he won’t listen to requests to stay out of a situation. He’ll keep working towards a solution as long as there’s the faintest glimpse of hope, and if he fails, he beats himself up, because that’s easier than admitting there are some problems that are simply unfixable.
Used to exaggerating everything for work, Ev is loud, vocally and physically, making big, sweeping movements meant to be inclusive, though this may intimidate others. He enjoys crowds, partly because he always likes an audience, and partly because crowds of people having fun mean that the world is at peace. Even though some of his interests are typically solitary pursuits (like reading), he finds being alone draining and, well, lonely, so he goes out of his way to be around others, reading to the elderly and coaching kids’ athletics. Time spent alone when he could be helping someone is time wasted.
And what of Ev’s desires? As long as he’s useful, he’s happy. But he does long for recognition, even if it’s just a pat on the back, so he knows he’s doing the right thing.
HISTORY : Impressed and inspired by the appearance of The Masque, as a teenager Evren knew he wanted to be a real superhero someday. Of course, things that were possible for a multi-millionaire weren’t as feasible for an average Gaian. Though he worked hard on physical fitness and tried to break into professional heroing, he still had bills to pay, and rescuing cats from trees wasn’t cutting it. During one of these early heroing attempts, he was scouted by a producer for GTV, and wound up working as a suit actor for the Masqued Marauder show, (loosely) based on the very hero that had influenced him. While this was initially exciting, for many months he did nothing but play rubber-suit villains, until he was finally cast as Neo Masque, performing the new hero’s stunts and action scenes.
It wasn’t quite as good as being a real hero, but it paid better, and the adoration of kids everywhere was a nice bonus- even if most of the accolades went to the actor who played the role out of suit. These days, he’s focused on playing Neo Masque and satisfies his urge to help by volunteering in his free time. But he still wears his costume under his clothes more often than not, mostly out of habit, just in case a hero is needed. He still wants to be a true hero, at least to one person who believes in him. With this in mind, he’s started to consider expanding his family...

Blood may be thicker than water, but it's not stronger than love.
Yilmaz Candemir: Evren's dad. Very set in his ways. He and Ev have a hard time seeing eye to eye about practically everything, which makes conversation difficult.
Zerren Candemir: The older of Evren's sisters. An overachiever who seeks the best in all areas of her life. She and Ev have different values, so they disagree more than they agree.
Derya Candemir: The younger of Evren's sisters. Does things her way, and to hell with the consequences. Tends to monopolize conversations. Chats with (to?) Ev fairly frequently.
Max: Evren's new pet Kindred, a Dasher. Ev is not quite sure what he's gotten himself into, but Maxie's awfully cute and very inquisitive.

Friends, Associates, Coworkers, etc.
Lumi Blanchard: An exorcist who helped Evren with the library spirit. While things didn't quite go according to plan, Ev is grateful for her help, though he does wish she wasn't quite so abrasive.
Misao Ikonen: Caretaker of a small shrine in Zen Gardens, and Lumi's grandmother. Kind and understanding, she helped Evren come to terms with the task he had undertaken, and its outcome.
Eriol Satourne: A librarian of some sort, and one of Evren's gym buddies, who helped with the library spirit matter. Ev is currently avoiding him.
Viviana Satourne: Eriol's daughter, and one of Evren's occasional ninja students.
Cristobal "Chris" Velasquez: One of Evren's fellow suit actors, who plays the role of Masqued Marauder. A veteran in the industry, and someone Ev looks up to despite their different opinions on heroism.

Relationships of the Raevan variety.
Lorenzo Fisch: Was a great help before and during Evren's spirit capture. Ev is pretty sure he wrecked whatever chance they had to become friends, but he's grateful for the help regardless.
Vesna Fisch: Ev was pretty distracted when he met her, but appreciates her help, and hopes to get the chance to thank her (and return her DVD) someday.

Inventory
Important items of inventory include the two books believed to be catalysts for the kyōrinrin's formation, and the failed yorishiro, all of which are sitting on Ev's nightstand. Also an anime DVD on loan from Vesna, which is sitting at the bottom of his backpack, forgotten.
