"Why do I have to do this?" Jason whined to no one in particular, his boot catching on a lose piece of timber and causing him to stumble forwards, reaching out to grab anything to stop himself from falling on his face. His hand did grasp something, a doorknob, and the moon was able to keep himself standing.
"It's almost Christmas too..." He wanted to spend it with Solia. Sighing heavily, the moon hunter looked at the door handle he still held onto, twisting and pushing it open with a grimace. Maybe he could somehow finish early and head back?
As the door opened wide, Jason snapped out of his thoughts, staring at the darkness that yawned in front of him. He couldn't see a thing, but he could hear something moving about in the dark...
Something shifted, and suddenly Jason was faced with dozens of pairs of glowing eyes, all staring at him. Before the hunter could react they were on him. Jason fell backwards with a scream, falling to the ground in a flailing heap as he was attacked by some horrible horde of monsters!
"Zanth! Zanth help me!" He cried out, only to hear the echoes of laughter in his head. It appeared his weapon was just gonna laugh at him instead of offering assistance. "DAMMIT ZANTH I NEED - "
"Kyu?"
"Kyu?" Jason stopped his flailing, now actually paying attention to what was attacking him. Or more appropriately, was cuddling up to him. Having adjusted to the darkness of the room he could now see that his attacker was a group of small tiny animals that resembled mutant pikachus. He stared at them crowding around him, utterly confused.
His weapon mused, obvious enjoying the whole spectacle.
"....Oh, I think I saw a picture of it somewhere?" He hadn't had a chance to play the new pokemon games yet, he was busy attending to injured hunters in the infirmary all the time. Regardless of his lack of current pokemon knowledge, Jason calmed down enough to sit up as the minipets all jumped about. He could see the room itself was filled with them. Just why there was a room full of minipets in the haunted mansion was beyond his reasoning, but they appeared to be harmless.
"...Whatever" The hunter breathed, getting to his feet as the mimikyu crowded around him or clung to his coat. With a flick of his wrist he pushed the door open and stood back.
"Be free!" He shouted, letting them rush out and scatter in different directions. He watched them go one by one and wondered if he was going to be in serious trouble for letting a bunch of minipets run around in the haunted house. Although it wasn't like they could hurt anyone.
He was pulled from his thoughts, as a few determined mimikyu still remained. They didn't want to leave his side.
...Okay then.
Jason watched them continue to snuggle against him, noticing one of them had a tag on it's ear. He picked it up to read said tag.
"....To Jason, from Aksaja?" Now he was really confused. Who was this Aksaja? And why was he getting presents from Halloween? It could only be from halloween, there was no one on the island with that name, nor anyone who would have access to such a minipet.
He had met a few halloween creatures, and they either went by a different name, or they had, well...they hadn't been too nice. But the minipet itself was cute, in a creepy sort of way...
He had always felt it rude to reject a gift. And since this person had gone to such lengths to give him something, well...
Jason let the creature sit on his shoulder and he picked up a few of the critters, all squirming happily at being held. Fishing around for a spare pen he pulled it out, writing a quick note on a spare tag and attached it to a few of the minikyu.
...He was already gonna be in trouble, so why not give some of these away to halloween creatures? The notion felt strange, considering they were the enemy and all.
But then they were just minipets who appeared to want some love. He couldn't take care of them all. Best let the ones who knew what they were doing care for them.
Jason had to wonder what a certain acquaintance of his would say when he found this thing addressed to him. It then occurred to the hunter he had no earthly way of giving these things out. Oh well, maybe they would find their way into Halloween?
He left them to wander about, wondering if anyone back on the island would want one...
