As one year closes and another one lingers on the horizon, now is a good time to sit back and think about everything that's happened in the year before. A local newspaper is running a seasonal section asking for your most memorable moment in Destiny City. This year, last year, fifty years ago--what was your more memorable? It doesn't seem like this is very competitive; they seem to be printing random suggestions. Maybe your contribution will get printed! If you feel like writing, at least. You can always sit around and reminisce--or just read some of what others are sharing.
Tom and Jason were currently at the airport, waiting for their plane to arrive. They hoped at least that it would be on time, and luckily it was just one flight to California. It was also quite early in the morning, so they were trying to fight off the sleep too. After staring at his phone for a while, trying to think of what to do, Tom let out a sigh and put the phone away. Jason noticed his sigh and looked up from his DS, turning his gaze towards his older sibling. “Tired?" Jason asked, feeling a yawn come on as soon as he had finished. He really didn’t like waking up this early.
Tom smiled a bit at him. “No, just glad for this year to almost be finally over, even though that means that I’m going to be another year older soon.” Tom replied, sitting up a bit. He remembered reading in the newspaper about asking for a memorable moment in the city and had been thinking about his own. Nothing of note had really happened until the spring of last year, in which his whole world had been practically turned upside down with the knowledge of other worlds and planets and a secret war dealing with superpowers had become known to him after he was forcefully converted.
He wouldn’t say that out loud of course and he was glad that his brother hadn’t been pulled into it either. He would try to do his best to make sure it stayed that way. Out loud however, he asked the question to his brother, “What’s your most memorable event in the city so far? Was it the bats or the plants?” Though if Jason got PTSD from any of that he would be sure to suggest going to a licensed psychiatrist.
Jason sent a glare over to his brother. “I WISH I didn’t have to remember those, but thanks for reminding me. I’m probably going to go and burn every poinsettia in the house when we get home.” Tom couldn’t blame him for that. “I don’t have anything memorable that is really a good thing, certainly not counting those weird attacks. Though you did win that marathon which was really cool.”
Tom blushed a little at his brother’s compliment. “Well, I didn’t think I was going to do that well. I just took my time and had a lot of luck. Sorry you got so far behind, and I hope you’re still not feeling sore from it.” He had been more worried about his brother after crossing the finish line, the place was way too slippery and cold for regular running clothing and neither of them had really dressed correctly for it. Jason shrugged. “ “Well we went for that checkup and other than a pulled muscle and some other muscle soreness I’m okay. Thanks for worrying about me though.”
Both of them became quite once more, not really sure what to say. Tom still wanted to try and convince his brother to transfer back to a local school in California, but if mutant bats and plants didn’t deter his little brother, he doubted that anything would at this point.
Luckily they were soon boarding their plan, ready to go and relax and have some NORMALLCY back at their home.
