JULIO SIMMONS Name: Julio Simmons Alias: Jules Age: 15 Gender: Male Powers: Confusion, Clairaudience, Invisibility Aura: Pistachio (#d0e8ae), Peach (#f9c9c7), low frequency
Appearance: Julio is tall and thin, with curly, dark hair and amber eyes. His personal style pulls from Californian and biker fashions, not that he'd care to put those exact words to it. He just thinks it looks cool. He makes no attempts to disguise his mistakes, wearing heavily torn jeans and a generous amount of band-aids. Too lackadaisical for his own good, he even neglects to tie his shoes on a regular basis.
Song: Paul Simon - Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard What do you like about this song? It's just so upbeat and happy! It's my go-to song to listen to when I'm feeling down. I love that the crime of the song is left ambiguous, that they just went ahead and wrote lyrics that sounded funny. Also, that whistling solo tho.

Personality: Cheekily cheerful, Julio is a playful boy, and is very outwardly friendly towards others. Some would describe him as flirtatious, but he isn't intentionally this way. Typically, he's found in good humor, usually smiling or even whistling when particularly happy. He adores the company of others, and loves being physically affectionate. He likes to lean on, hold hands, and hug others, and is quick to try and breach physical barriers with new friends.
Sometimes, however, Jules comes across as strange or enigmatic because of his attitude and speech. He has a tendency to speak in short sentences, often using metaphors and making seemingly irrational leaps of logic. It's not unusual to find him whispering nonsense about seemingly unrelated topics. To make things worse, he's hardly ever paid attention in school, and is quick to make a fool of himself in intellectual situations.
Thankfully, Julio lives life with a laissez-faire attitude, enjoying life for the small things, and not a lot gets under his skin. He won’t be easily embarrassed or intimidated, especially with the knowledge that he can use his powers to get out of anything serious. Attempts to mess with Julio are typically met with friendly laughter or complete misunderstanding. He simply doesn't feel the need to get involved in dramatics.
While Julio doesn’t like the idea of others getting hurt, he doesn’t seem to have any regard for following rules or laws. He’s been known to play harmless pranks and engage in minor crimes, simply for the humor and the rush of it. In the past, he's used his clairaudience to reveal juicy gossip, but tends to be careful with his information so not to hurt people's feelings.
For someone with no prior ties to the psychic world, Julio is fairly skilled with his powers. He's self-taught and he's had his powers for a few years, so he's grown fairly comfortable with them, but he has very little drive to improve. After struggling with dyslexia and the fear of inadequacy, Julio's pretty much given up on being competitively good at anything. Despite this, he's actually a pretty good auditory learner, and can be very wise when he wants to be.
Besides juvenile delinquency, Julio doesn't have a lot of hobbies. He's a fan of guitars and skateboarding, and is somewhat proficient at both. He also likes exploring and the outdoors, and will almost always be up for a good adventure.

History: Julio grew up in a fairly strict household run by his two fathers, business and life partners Sam and Simone Simmons. The youngest child of four, all three of Julio's sisters (Avril, Maya, and Juniper) are about a decade older than him and already thriving independently and successfully with careers in business, law, and medicine. The fathers attempted to groom Julio into a similarly proper young man, coddling him and providing him with the best private education money could buy. Julio, frightened by the pressure of measuring up to his ultra-successful family, simply shrugged off the responsibility and turned to more rebellious activities.
Julio has dyslexia, but has never brought it up to anyone. He prefers his peers to view him as lazy rather than neuro-atypical, and has played this same charade to his family. Disinterested in reading because of how difficult it was to keep up, Julio gave up on most of his studies, despite his family's repeated attempts to find something to interest him educationally.
When previously attending private school, Julio had a tendency to skip classes, preferring to spend his time engaging in minor, victimless crimes like trespassing and vandalization. He actually got his psychic confusion powers fairly early, first discovering them when he hit puberty earlier than his friends and peers. Assuming himself to be somewhat of an outcast already, he kept the information to himself, only really using them to get himself out of trouble with authority (and his parents).
When his clairaudience powers became apparent, Julio started to get the inkling that something more was going on. At an educational summer camp separate from Murmuring Pines, he revealed his powers to a counselor, and through their research and hard work, Julio was put into contact with Majesco.
His parents jumped at the chance to send their beautiful boy to such a special school, desperately hoping this school was the key to bringing Julio success and happiness. Julio himself is still unsure on the matter, as he's never been around a psychic before, let alone attend class with them exclusively. He's incredibly nervous about joining in as a beginner when there are other students that have been raised with significantly more training.
Julio is incredibly jealous of students who attended Murmuring Pines Psychic Summer Camp, largely because he had a horrible time at the educational, indoor camps he attended when he was younger. He feels like he really missed out on outdoorsy fun and hands-on psychic learning that Murmuring Pines provides. Naturally, he's infatuated with the idea of becoming a camp instructor there.
