How long had it been since the raid on the rebellion's old base? Something like a sweep? Sure felt like one, as far as Reemus was concerned. And not super long after that, as they were pulling Salamire together, there was talk of a jubilee. Plenty of trolls went, and returned with all sorts of neat things and lots to talk about. Reemus, though, wasn't among them. Trying to think back to the time, he mostly kind of blanked. He was there, but maybe only bodily. Working through those events took time, and even he couldn't adapt that fast. Not like other trolls seemed to.
In the now, though, he had himself all together again. Reemus wanted to do things once more, and was even somewhat comfortable in his disguise these nights. And, honestly, he liked taking any excuse to get out of the swamp for a bit.
Especially with Voscil. Especially now, when they needed something to focus on besides nearly getting crushed by a falling space ladder. Even after that mess, she still wanted to be with him, so...here they were.
Or, really, here was Reemus walking past the stalls, stars in his eyes and his hand in Voscil's, until he smelled warm food and immediately bee-lined over to the moon cakes and only graced Voscil with a point of his finger at the food and a grin of enthusiasm before stuffing his face on free samples.
That sure was the troll Voscil agreed to date.
Mouth still somewhat full, he said, "You gotta try some, Sparky!"

Voscil still liked to wear pops of red in her outfit, although the yellowblood had settled on a slightly more neutral color choice, the stripped shirt fit her well enough. Voscil was not use to wearing anything but her regular jumpsuit, playing the part of the fake I.D of Sparky Hanabi was slowly becoming more normal. She still wore bits of the blue from Reemus's disguise since he continued to be insistent about the choice. They had been at Salamire for some time now, and while coming and going from the Swamp helped Voscil had helped out with the rebuilding efforts.
It would have been rude of her otherwise. Especially given the lengths they'd gone to try and make accommodations for everyone living space wise.
The best part in this, was she had a lot of the friends she'd been close to as a kid close by. Zin wasn't among them, which still left her feeling weird given she worried about him. However. Voscil had never truly been alone. Reemus somehow had always been there for her when she least expected it.
After the ladders had crashed, she'd been quieter than usual. Down a bit even. Of course, walking hand in hand with someone you cared about and the tantalizing smell of food was too good. She'd gone briefly to play with the Snoutbeast with Faithe (Etsali), and even rustled around for a needle. But being invited on an official date during the harvest season was exciting! Everything was new to her, Voscil hadn't attended last years Jubilee. Leaving her fairly delighted.
She in turn grinned at the site of the mooncakes..and free samples. Food. One of the trolls absolute favorite subject. Not only that this was something sugary, delicious and...Exactly what sounded good. There was all kind of fairground goodies but the sparkle in the lightning psionics eyes was all too real and pure as she pulled at his hand to come with her.
"Tooothy...they look really good." She shoved a bite of her own in her mouth, looking over at those who were making them. Gulping ddown her first one, and second one they both vanished. Vos slowly reached for another before deciding better of it. Truth be told they had all practically vanished in two bites. She wanted to savior it for a moment An idea occurred to her. "Wanna make some to take with?" Voscil hummed thoughtfully as she nibbled on what was left of her last free mooncake she'd grabbed.

"Ohhhh, can we do that?" Reemus swallowed the remainder of his almost-enough-to-get-called-out-for-abusing-sample-privileges moon cake. He looked up at the sign, and squinted to read it. Clearly he hadn't before, only paying attention to the food and the food people weren't having to pay beetles for. After a long moment of quietly reading with a half-blind eye and a general poor literacy, he learned that yes indeed could they make moon cakes. "Sounds fun! Let's do it."
Especially since Voscil had kind of turned inward. Not like he was bouncing around like a pup, but he did get it. Reemus had been focusing on work lately, more so than right before getting involved with the space ladders. He couldn't say it didn't get to him any, but in a way it felt like their positions were slightly reversed compared to when they first joined the Initiative. So he had, had to make this fun. For Voscil as a friend dealing with trauma, and as his girlfriend who was sad.
"D'ya think with my bigger hands I'll get bigger moon cakes?" he asked with a grin as he took some dough and started patting it together. "Ohhhh n' do ya see the kinda stuff we can put in them? How much d'ya think we're allowed to make? I wanna try all the flavors... Ah! Now I wanna figure out which flavors would be the most Sparky of the lot so I can make ya a whole box."

"Yeah we can! Look I see some other trolls rolling out dough. Mind you I don't think I'm very good at baking." She admitted sheepishly as she chuckled. Voscil hadn't kept count of how many he'd just wolfed down, but she did sneak another one for herself as she moved from place to place beside him with the quickness her psionics allowed for.
She was in one spot, then the next actually pretty jazzed up. The last few days hadn't been as bad. The Outpost was slowly coming along with rebuilding efforts, and running for supplies for her anyway wasn't to difficult. It kept her busy. That made handling what had happened easier to deal with.
Those thoughts for the moment were absent as she looked curiously at the baking station then back to Reemus. She remembered setting a kitchen on fire as a smaller girl...hopefully that wouldn’t happen again..this wasn't nearly as involved. These ovens looked pretty wiggler friendly, which put her at ease. Patting the dough she looked at his hands and what he was working with. "I dunno do you wanna make a big one?" She laughed, amused at the thought. His arm muscles tensed as he worked with the dough, she noted the change with an appreciative raise of her brow.
Voscil even pushed her hand to much into the dough, mooshing it from her distaction. Oopse! She'd have to fix that as she rolled her's out.
Her eyes widened, a flush of mustard yellow dotted the girl's cheeks suddenly as she caught herself staring. Wait. He wanted to make her a whole box? "Aww! Thank you! You know I'll literally eat anything...especially if it's berry...or chocolate you don't have to pick a special one." Vos mumbled sheepishly as she nudged him gently. "Pick some flavors for me to work with?" She asked him noting there was spice, sweet and even a few other odds and ends. Hmm. As long as they made them for each other, she had a feeling neither foodie would complain.

"Do I wanna make a big one? Does Mum bark?" he asked with his own laugh. "That would be so bloody cool, love. Like- like- the cookies they make the size a' pizzas!" Reemus paused and frowned. "Izzit bad that I just ate n' that's makin' me hungry again?"
With a befuddled shrug, he went back to work shaping some dough. Big hands did give him an excuse to make something bigger than other trolls there were making, and he was going right for it. This one was obviously for him; once Reemus had a hand at making these things, he would be a moon cake machine for his girlfriend.
He smiled further at her reaction. "Awww, yer not makin' this any easier, love," he half-stated half-teased. Reemus also took that moment to lean over and give her a little head kiss. Then, back to work. "But we can start with figurin' out berries. They sure have fruit, don' they?" Reemus wasn't a big fan of fruit himself. Pity they didn't have any meat. Now that would make a cake. "Do people mix chocolate n' berries? I can do that maybe."
In the meantime, he was shoving in plenty of sweetness in his test cake. If only they had spicy stuff, too, like at that booth that tended to pop up at Bloodfest...

"Duh that's like asking if Mamaju roars." Voscil snorted at the other softly in amusement. "You goofball." She smiled at his choice of words. Vos hadn't missed it. Her boyfriend was being particularly sweet. Funny. She never thought she'd use those words. The red flirt had turned into outright dating. Voscil still wore a goofy smile of her own when she thought about it.
Voscil brushed her nose against his cheek and stole a quick peck on his strong jawline as he leaned down momentarily. She had grown...although he was still taller than her much to her dismay.
Working at making his cake she moved to add more ginger and brown sugar for the one she was planning on making him. Herself she picked out a few black berries and blue to try out. "I think so..." she nudged some spice mix towards them to make it easier. Once she'd added a filling she examined the cake. "Not to bad I think?" She laughed sheepishly glancing at his handy work.

This was nice? This was very nice. He blushed a little at being kissed back. Actually, his face kind of hurt from smiling. "Gosh."
But Reemus was still keeping track of the task at hand, for the most part. He did steal a glance at Voscil now and then, but he had to remind himself that he still had to pretend to be pale. It was hard though, and he wasn't sure where the lines were. Would it be so bad to break off from patting dough to wrap his arms around Vos and raspberry her cheek?
Unsure.
He blinked at the spice, but took some to add before it was time to... He looked around for reference. Crust? Crust. They had to make crust. Baking was intense! He started patting that, now that he had experienced molding the dough in general.
Reemus glanced at Vos's cake. "I'd eat it right now if we weren't supposed t' bake 'em." Granted, that didn't say much. He'd eat microwavable food out of the can without heating it up if he felt like it. "I think it's a good first go, love!" Hands on his hips, he looked at his own handiwork so far.
"Doesn't seem too hard, does it? Kinda wish I had gotten into this as a kid... Makin' food for a livin' seems nice." Then, with his own guilty grin, "Though I'd probably eat most of it on me own."

Voscil was supposed to be while disguised as Sparky, pretending to be his (Toothy's) moirail. A poor choice given they'd just confessed feelings of red attraction for the other. Her husky handsome fool looked good in any outfit he wore...but the blue made it hard to discern if he was truly a highblood or not. She only worried if he ever was hit. Not that Vos would let him face such a peril on his own. It was why she'd settled for more yellows and greys in her wardrobe..but being out with Reemus made it impossible to not want to jazz up the matching look just a bit.
When had he gotten that light stubble across his jawl? The sideburns on the other boy had grown out a fair amount. His short hair too had taken on a more longish wild apperance. Her own hair had recently been trimmed, she'd done it herself and was rather pleased with the look overall. There she was again, comparing apperances and admiring him. Oh Come on! There was cakes to be made..and she kept loosing track of what she was doing.
Smiling sheepishly she moved closer to him for a moment and leaned into his side as she took a small break before making the crust. "Babe I dunno...mine looks lumpy compared to yours." She could eat mooncakes no problem, making them was a problem all it's own. Appraising her work vs his, she adjusted the dough a little before moving on. "I think they'll be fine either way with any luck?" She hummed a little.
"I wish I'd gone last year, I was busy with a flarp thing and playing in a fiduspawn tournament." She admitted with a small shrug. Voscil giggled at her boyfriend's remark. "I would too..it's why I never tried to work in food." She grinned at him laughing as she shook her head in bewilderment. Shuffling to get the goods for the crust she made it, before assembling the cake to go into the baking oven.
Impatient to get going for no particular reason, she could barely contain herself as she looked to Reemus urging him to get his done soon.

"Food's food, love. I think it'll work out." Reemus said, waving it off. He went quiet when she talked about last sweep, though, not really wanting to talk about where he was then. Probably because she had seen it while he felt it. Hm.
"Sometime I wanna come along when you do more tournaments. That'd be fun! I'd cheer louder than anyone, I think. N' more FLARP would be nice. The last one we did together was kinda weird, 'ey?" Or, he had kind of panicked and just defaulted to barking and running in circles. His grip tightened a little, threatening to make the cake explode. A sign that he should stop and just see how it'd come out.
The yellowblood patted the flour off his hands, looking over at Voscil. Tall and slender but powerful. And cute! Very important detail. A very kissable face. Beautiful as always, especially when she smiled. Even so, it looked like she was getting kind of fidgety. "I'm just about done, don' worry. Do ya wanna bake 'em at the same time?" He guessed that was why she would wait. If Voscil wanted to keep going on her own, she would have. And he wouldn't have blamed her any (not to say he was above mock-pouting).
"While they're in I can probably make the box o' Vos treats, eh?" he considered out loud, rubbing his jaw a little.

Voscil giggled a little at that, shaking her head at him. "Yeah BUT good food verse meh Ree!" She insisted, although she wasn't being picky, in fact she was warmly teasing him. "It'll be good just cuz we made 'em who cares." She shrugged then with a mischievous gleam in the runner's eyes. While he didn't comment much on last year, she appreciated the fact he let her yammer on anyway even if it was trivial.
"We can look for some to enter soon...and no one will really say much if ya wear the wrong blood color and get smacked. It's a costume." Reemus needed the pratice, he'd been a seadweller wiggler out of water for the first time. He had tried that was for sure. Her last flarp session had been intense, Eridia was an odd friend to have gained from the experience. Yet it had happened just the same. Vos tried to approach that whole mess carefully, Eri was not a troll to toy with lightly. As she pondered this, Voscil began musing thoughtfully. "We should get the gang back 'home' to play sometimes." The idea of all those kids playing seemed hilariously amusing to her.
Flower was all over Vos. She'd gotten some on her shirt, while the rest lingered on her hands and a bit dusted her nose even. She'd been careless and hasty with the flower, sending it floating in the air whichever way it pleased. Oblivious to it she smiled at him then. "Yea...I wanted to for these." She admitted with a slight nod.
"Hmm sure, do ya want a box of your own or shall we make 6 'n 6 for the other?" The yellowblood asked as she leaned over to purposely brush a hand over his arm as Vos reached for the cooking sheet for his mooncake. The light electrical static behind her touch was from her nervous, giddy emotions and wasn't intended to hurt him.

"All food's good when ya just wanna eat," he replied, unfazed, but he let Voscil have her fun. But he did nod in agreement that making the food yourself made it better. Though usually he was too hungry to want to make food. Good thing the swamp offered services and he had money for that. Also, microwave meals. Food was food was food.
"Do ya always play premade characters in FLARP? Cuz I might be able to do that more often, maybe." It was easier than a disguise on top of a disguise and such. He had enough of a time just playing this Toothy guy. "If it gets too intense I can just watch ya be great at it, I think." And it would be hard if he had to play someone who couldn't bother her the whole time. He'd get so distracted!
Speaking of distractions, he dropped the line of thought immediately when Voscil brought up bringing FLARP to the swamp kids. "Ohhhh, that would be great! I'm sure the li'l mates would love it." It could also teach them how to play aliases! Ohhhh, he was a genius. He'd have to remember to mention that to Vos when they were closer to the Outpost. She'd be so proud!
"Uhhhh I think it'd be cool to make some fer each other. It'd be kinda like those cupcakes, yeh?" he thought aloud.
Voscil put a hand on his arm, and he put a hand on hers for a hot second. Though he had to let go so she could actually grab the thing. The static was telling, though. "You doin' okay over there?" he asked with a coy eyebrow raise, only vaguely hinting at feeling her powers.

Voscil actually agreed with the train of thought. "With the way I eat, trust me I know." She admitted sheepishly, patting her gut for emphasis. Vos could keep paces with any competitive eater if she so desired. It wasn't really a BRAGGING right, but it was impressive by her books. Luckily the swamp was good to them on the meal front. Vos also hunted to help keep supplies going, and made frequent runs as needed. That didn't stop her stomach from rumbling now of course.
"Usually yea, sometimes folks go as their own invention. Most of the times the rules are already setup 'n such and you are just joining sides for mock combat practice tho some trolls really give ya a good one-two in the 'spirit' of things." She winked, as if she'd perhaps done that in the past as a little girl. "Mhmm! I think they would too." Voscil could only hope the kids liked it anyway, or else clearly they all likely had defective thinkpans. Or were boring. Either one was possible.
"Ahhh! Okay yea I like the sound of that." Vos appeared on the other side of their work station, blushing as he called out the fact she was barely containing herself. A little eletrical pop sounded off as she gathered up ingredients to set to work making her batch for him. "Ya just fine, mk? How you doing buddy." She poked her tongue out at him playfully, keeping in character for appearances.
Vos glanced at him with a knowing expression despite her comment. Oh yea everything was fine, she was just excited. Controlling her powers was a pain in the a** disguised or not with such factors in place. Rasali had at least helped her practice getting a handle on them.

"I'm doin' pretty good, with good company n' all." So the cakes were in the oven, and like ovens did, would let them know when they were done. He'd just have to try not to bark at the noise. Oh, right, they were making more things. He shook his head and tried to focus. Voscil was already at work, so he had to shuffle to get enough for six whole cakes. Or, well, the size he'd want to make. Six 'average' size looked pitiful. He could do better than that! Somehow avoiding any ire for taking so much dough and ingredients, he returned to his station to work.
Reemus had a little problem, though. His hair kept trying to flop into his eyes despite being slicked back. "I think m' hair's gettin' a little too long..." he grumbled. "I dunno if I should cut it or not." Maybe she'd had a helpful opinion. Left to his own devices, he'd cut it terribly but be satisfied that it wasn't in his face anymore. A simple boy.
"Oh, Sparks, ya did the snoutbeast thing, right? How'd that go?" Reemus would love to wrestle a pig, but Toothy had to appear like he didn't like getting dirty. At least on the ground. It was pure murder for the pup.
