Broken and battered, the mare could travel on no longer. She could hear her familiar urging her on, telling her to keep moving until they found some cover and got further away from the monster who had done this to her.
She lurched forward, knowing her familiar spoke true words, but stumbled and fell, her legs twisting underneath her. The parrot above cried out in alarm and circled down until he stood beside her, clicking his beak nervously. He did not want to leave her side, but he had to look about to see if there was danger, or help, nearby."Thalia, stay here, darling. Don't move, just wait. I'm going to find help, darling, just rest here." Tulio said to his bonded, but he received only a wordless whimper and he took to the sky.
He was frantic in his search, scouring every inch of land for someone-anyone-who could help them. On he soared, leaving Thalia further behind to cower in fear with every noise nearby. Every breeze carried the furious roars that the demon had made when she managed to escape, every twig snapping was the beast lurking in the shadows. Thalia couldn't fly anymore, not with her feathers clipped. They would grow back, Tulio had tried to assure her, but they could not grow back fast enough, nor could her wounds heal, for easy travel.
If only I had gone with him. Thalia thought, recalling her fondest memory, If only I hadn't been so naive...

Soco had been out with his basket collecting plants and berries for the herd. He had gotten a special order from some of the care givers to get some nice berries for the new ones and for some medical leaves for any wounded ones they might get any time soon. He was a nymph and at one with nature and had no issue finding medical plants as well as food ones.
He hummed to himself as he picked before hearing wings and looking up and around a large raspberry bush. A bird, a parrot if he wasn't mistaken, was here and it had a little bit of blood on it which seemed not normal. He sniffed at the air and looked over it. "Are you hurt sir?" asked the small pony in a southern accent as he walked a little more into the clearing to look at the bird in the air.
He looked around and knew that Oma was on patrol today, he was most days cause he didn't like doing much else. Ever since that Skinwalker had hurt him a bit and seemed way too interested in him he did not like to risk leaving the place unprotected and wanted revenge on her. If this bird needed more help then Soco could give Oma was just a whistle away.

Tulio had spotted the dark pony below and was starting to circle down to get a better look. If the pony appeared friendly, perhaps he would be willing to help him and his bonded. The pony beat him to finding out the answer when he asked if Tulio himself was hurt.
Upon landing in a tree nearby the bushes and the pony, now finding it to be a mini stallion, he clicked his beak, feathers thoroughly ruffled. "Not I, not I." Said he to the mini. "But my bonded is in great danger, I fear for my darling Thalia's life, I really do. It was a Skinwalker, you see! Great demon bear! Please, please!" He spread his wings and took off again. "We must help her, she cannot move, I need to get back to her, please!"
Tulio, mind spinning, opens his mouth and let out a loud cry before flying higher into the sky again. With the mini still insight, he flew a few paces and then returned. What if his darling Thalia were dying right that moment and he wasn't with her?
"Please, please! Hurry!" Cried the parrot as he circled over head, ready to take off in his darling's direction as soon as the mini gave note that he was to follow.

Thalia? Was that not the name that he had heard from Omas lips a few times? He always seemed so sad to talk about her so he didn't bring it up much but he was interested in helping her. But the bird said Skinwalker and he remembered the time he had come face to face with the one that had messed up Oma before and he didn't want to repeat that. "Oh gosh Mister i aint too good at taking on them skinewalkers by me self. Let me get someone who can help better and someone who i think already knows your girl. Let me call him." he said as he whistled loudly. and ran back to get the basket of herbs, it sounded like they would need them.
"OMA!! Hurry we have trouble!" he called out as he whistled again through his front teeth. He snatched up the basket and followed the bird to where his bonded was. Omagatoki was circling the trees near the normal watering area of his herd. He heard the whistle that was the danger signal most of his herd who was not fighters used when out. He knew that was Soco too, it had his typical high pitch that he normally got to. Ever since that little mini had joined he had gotten into a lot of trouble but he had grown on Oma a lot. He hurried to the direction of the whistle and looked around for the dark blue stallion. As he flew close to the area he smelled something though.
A familiar long lost smell. "Thalia..." he said as he knew it was her he smelled on the wind. Her blood. "THALIA!" he called out feeling his blood boil at the idea of her being hurt or in danger. He beat his large wings faster and over took the little male and the parrot. He looked around and found her white and blue body near a tree hiding. He found a clear area and landed with a thud, wings flared out and lips curled as his nose searched for danger as he walked over to her and carefully stood close to her as he glanced for danger and looked at her at the same time.
"What happened?" he asked as he looked at her and felt a longing to touch her and nuzzle her poor terrified face. But he wouldn't do that till he knew the area was safe.

Someone was coming. Thalia closed her eyes tight, hearing heavy footsteps on the ground nearby. Was it the beast come to finish her work? She shuddered and then winced, her body ached. Her fur was matted were shallow cuts of a bear's claw had sliced into her otherwise pretty coat. Her wings hung in awkward ways, not broken, but her primary and secondary feathers had clumps missing. They would not regrow for some time. Between this and her tangled mane and tail, Thalia was a sorry sight.
The voice, deep and resounding, was not that of the demon bear's, but a voice she heard only in her dreams. She slowly opened her eyes and tilted her head back to look up at the owner of that voice. Was she dreaming now? She must be, there was no way her golden angel could be here. Tears were brought to her eyes. She so wished this were real."My darling!" Thalia's ears perked at the sound of her familiar. Tulio? How had that chatter-beak made his way into such a fond dream? Soon his pale beak was in full view as he waddled close to her. Such a persistent thing. Then he turned to her golden angel and began to speak quickly about the attack, how they had been on their way to the hot springs only to fall into a pit trap laid out by a clever Skinwalker who mistreated Thalia badly. He described it in such vivid detail that Thalia moaned and he fell silent. Then he was chattering again, pleading for her angel to save her, to help her, to keep her safe.
She couldn't possibly be dreaming with all the chatter that flowed so easily from Tulio's beak and with rising hope, she lifted her head towards the golden male beside her and croaked, "Oma...?"

The sight of her like this was heart breaking to him. He had never thought of anything the way he thought of her. She was his every waking thought. Looked at the bird as he came back and listened to his story. He looked away from Thalia for but a moment to give a sniff of the area, his paws clawing the ground in anger as he listened to the Parrot and when he didn't smell fresh bear near by at all he allowed himself to do what he wanted to do and he moved closer to her and leaned down and nuzzled her beautiful face.
"My little one you need to stop getting into trouble. Twisted ankles and now this. I will never let you out of my sight again." he said as he sighed softly only to startle when something came through the bushes and he almost attacked only to see the little Mini Soco coming though with the basket.
"Sweet berries Soco i almost killed you!" he said as he lay down facing Thalia and nuzzling her so that Soco could look over Thalia and help. He knew plants and could do something for her wounds or tell him what to do to help till she was good enough to move. "Sweet berries indeed this lady has been manhandled way too roughly. My poor child." he said as he examined her legs and wounds. He pulled out some berries and leaves, and pointed to some moss. "Excuse me mister bird. I didn't get your name. Im Soco. Could you help me a bit and take some moss and get it wet while i chew these leaves?" he asked as he put berries and leaves in his mouth and glanced at Oma, who was cleaning some blood off Thalias face and pulling twigs and sticks from her hair and whispering to her softly to calm her down.

Thalia couldn't describe the emotions pouring through her, though she hoped she saw the one feeling she had realized ever since they parted. She stared at him, committing his every feature to memory in case this was just some heartbreaking dream that she would have to wake up from. She loved him. She loved him desperately and she needed to be closer to him. She needed to wrap her battered wings around him and weep for all the times she missed him, for all the strife she could have avoided if only she had gone back to live with him.
Suddenly self-conscious of how terrible she must look, the poor thing did burst into tears. She strained against her body's desire to keep still and practically crawled towards her love, so at she could nestle into his side, under a wing. She wanted to hide from the world and he could protect her. She wept, trying not to think of how foolish she may seem.
"O-O-Oh, Oma..." She choked on her own tears, chest heaving despite her body's protests. "Oh, Oma... I... I...I'm such a f-fool. I thought I was being silly, that day, I thought it couldn't truly be, but it was love, love at first sight, wasn't it?" She buried her face in his chest. "I want to stay. I want to live in your herd now... I love you, I've loved you since we met and I didn't want to say it like this, I wanted to find you when I was pretty and you would have loved me for it, but now... Please, please, don't turn me down for something I never could control, Oma... I love you so..." The mare was working herself into a hysterical fit. She had dreamed of the day she would reunite with her love and this was the furthest thing she could have imagined.
She grew tired after a time and was only distantly aware that things were going on behind her. She wouldn't be able to stand it if she woke up from this to find it all a dream."Yes, yes, of course." Chirped Tulio and went off to conduct his search. He knew from his bonded that this must be Omagatoki, her lost love. He was happy that they somehow came together again, but was oh so worried for her that his concern took over. Moss first, celebrations later. He scraped together a hefty clump from a tree branch and then dipped the bundle into a stream nearby. Clutching it sift my in his claws, he returned to where the mini stood and where his bonded and her love lay. Please, please, please, he hoped to anyone above who might hear. Let them heal my darling.

Oma tried to help her get comfy in against his body as he cleaned her hair and face and licked gently any wounds he could reach that needed it. He listed to her as she talked and smiled glad he wasn't the only one who had felt it. When she started to seem like he would not accept her cause of this he snorted and laughed softly as he nuzzled her face and rumbled softly.
"My love you would never be anything but the most beautiful in my eyes. Hush and relax. We will tend you and i'll find a way to help get you back. Nothing will hurt you with me around. You are mine i always knew you were ment for me. That no one would be better for me then you from the moment i laid eyes on you. For as long as you want to be with me and mine then i will never leave you. Rest and let him tend you." he said softly as he nuzzled her and went to her hair again. Fixing her bow up a bit and helping her curls. He was good with hair, he had to be with the amount he had. He looked at Soco and over his loves legs.
"Hows it look? When can we try to get her walking?" he asked softly as he picked at her hair.Soco had the bird clean some of the dirt off wounds so he could get the chewed paste into them. It would help with the pain so she might be able to walk with them back to safety. He fretted over them and had the little bird help clean here and there and at one point he pulled a clump of bear fur out of a wound and he snorted at the horrible smell. Looking at Oma he sighed as he worked more paste into a wound.
"Soon. Have her eat two of those leaves there next to you to help her feel better so we can leave when she feels like she can stand ok." he said moving up to her wings when the bleeding was handled on her legs pretty well. "You two are very lucky i would say. Even more so that you found me and Oma i think. No better place you could have ended up in." he said softly.

The relief that Thalia felt was near immeasurable. With his kind words, Oma had scared off any worries that she may have had and she snuggled up to his without another negative word. They were in love. They had been since the moment they laid eyes on each other. It sounded like a fairytale romance and she supposed it really was.
She let her eyes fall closed as he preened her mane and carefully avoided hurting her too badly, even when he stopped to lick some of her cuts. When she was healed, she would better her appearance and he would love her all the more, even if these cuts scarred her body.
Her ear twitched at the notion of her standing and she began to tremble at the thought of movement, but... If Oma wanted her to stand and to walk, then she would try her best, for him. She raised her head again and gazed upon her love.
"Oma, if you will ask it of me, I will stand." She said with convinction. She would do near anything he asked of her in this moment. When the bear fur was withdrawn from one of his bonded's wounds, Tulio felt sick. The small stallion was doing good work, but the bird couldn't bear to watch it, so he flew up to a tree and turned around, until he was to be summoned again for another task.

Oma smiled as he looked at how happy and content she was as Soco worked on her wounds and he cleaned her hair and licked some more blood off her face. He would never leave her or let her go again. She was his and he would hurt who ever tried to take her form him or hurt her again. If he found this skinwalker who had hurt her he would end them for doing his to his beautiful one.
"I want you to rest a bit more. Soco...and bird...what is your name again? Can you two go find her some water to drink she should drink some." he said pulling Socos basket close to give her the edible berries from it to her. "Eat and feel a bit better then we will help you walk to the herd to get safe. Then you can rest up all you need to do ok." he said as he nuzzled her ear as Soco nodded to them both."Right will do! Come mister bird! We will find your pretty lady some water and maybe some more berries." he said as he trotted off towards the area that he knew the closest water was at.

After the horrors she had faced, it felt almost too good to be true that suddenly she had found everything she sought after: her love, a place to call home and most certainly some more friends, she thought with a glance at the mini stallion beside her. She soaked it all in and was relieved to hear that she wouldn't be walking just yet.
She nodded and then reached her nose forward to nuzzle Oma's, her eyes full of love and compassion for him. How anyone could be so good? Even Thalia had her moments of selfishness and vanity, but Oma... He was so kind, so loving, so... perfect.
Eventually she bowed her head and began to eat the berries that were laid in front of her and when they were gone, Thalia snuggled against Oma's warm body and let her eyes close. She was safe here, so surely a little nap wouldn't hurt, right?Tulio flew diligently beside the small stallion, growing weary now that it seemed as though he and his bonded were in safe hooves. He swooped lower and lower before coming to rest on the stallion's horns, careful not to drape any feathers into his eyes and obscure his vision. Like his bonded, he was in due need of a nap.
"How will we carry the water back to her?" He asked before he allowed himself to nod off. He mustn't rest until his darling was safe in the herd he heard about. Then he could sleep for days.

Oma nuzzled her and smiled as she relaxed and Soco went off to get water with the bird. He kept up with cleaning her hair and the wounds he could reach as he noticed that she was drifting off to sleep. He started to hum softy, he had a deep calming voice and when he sang it was rather musical and beautiful. He hummed as she slept and kept up with cleaning her hair out of the branches and twigs. He did not like seeing her like this and knowing that she had been though so much with out him there to protect her....he wished she had stayed and not left him before.
He got all the things out that he could reach and laid his neck gently across her back and watched over everything around the two of them, Ears alert and on hyper active to make sure that nothing was going on around them that he needed to be worried about.Soco frowned as he looked around and looked at the bird. "This is true....what to use...im sure there is something here we can use..." he said walking a little into the water and looking all over for something that looked like he could use it to move water. He moved a large branch and then found a large flat shell that could hold some water. "Look here! Its got two halves! You take one and i'll take the other." he said as he cleaned the sand out of the shell and then handed the other half to the bird so he could scoop some water up for her. "I'll look for more berries too after we get the water to her." he said before picking the shell up and slowly heading back to the couple.

Knowing that he was in a safe place, sleep came easily to Thalia. Unfortunately for the mare a dreamless sleep did not come as quickly. As soon as the darkness surrounded her, Thalia's sleeping form began to tremble under Oma's wing. Within her mind, she was dealing with something much for severe.
It was a warped memory, one where she could only see the outline of e predator that stooped over her. Green fire eyes stared down at her from a grand height and glowing green runes dotted the darkness. The stench of blood filled her nose as the bearwalker above her paced and laughed."Sing, birdie, sing." Cooed the walker and Thalia opened her mouth, but all that came out was a hoarse croak. The smile faded from the skinwalkers dimly lit featured and it shifted from mare to bear as its eyes grew malicious just before it leapt at Thalia.
Thalia let out a shrill cry and her eyes flew open, but she was blind to her surroundings and she shrieked and thrashed, still locked in the dream and feeling her wings torn and her body marred. The sound was horrible, for she managed to mimic the cries she had made under the attack: those of a mare being tortured.Tulio hadn't realized they were so close to the sea, but he took the shell and awkwardly held it between his two legs to carry it more evenly. It was uncomfortable to fly like this, but he wasn't going to deny his darling some water. He dipped the shell into the water provided by a stream and began to vigorously flap his wings to become airborne again, only for his sharp ears to pick up on an unmistakable scream. Those screams would haunt the bird, as they did his bonded, for a lifetime.
"She's back! The demon bear is back!" Tulio dropped the shell and the water splashed to the ground and he jettisoned off without so much as a second though. Though he was small and he was far from being a raptor or other bird of prey, he raised his talons defensively as he prepared to strike down into the demon bear's eyes-fire or not-at the first sight of her.
