Seung had been going to the gym more often to lift weights, and use various machines, and tonight was one of those nights where he had gone to the gym. It was after dinner when he’d gone to the gym to spend some much needed time working out, as if the martial arts lessons weren’t enough. His muscles were pleasantly sore and he was ready to head home, shouldering the gym bag he had brought with him, he was wearing a hoodie in order to keep warm as fall had finally arrived and with it cool nights.

His hands tucked into the pockets of the hoodie as made his way down the sidewalk, it was a good distance between here and his family's apartment building - damn it. His legs were tired and really didn’t want to make the journey but he did need to get home.

He had to, at one point during the walk, pass a small park. By small he meant it was big enough for a few benches, a handful of lights and a few trees and a playground - that was it. It wasn’t that big and it had a wrought iron fence around it but no gate to close it. It was just enough to contain things like balls and children, for the most part anyway. There was some grass but not a lot, as most of it was dominated by the playground itself. The park was for children - clearly. Yet when he came to it he could hear other sounds...shouting and yelling...a scream.

Around the fence he moved and through the open gate as he ducked behind one of the free trees in order to see what was happening. His hand going for his back pocket where his cell phone was kept. He was expecting some teenager, or teenagers, being mugged or maybe even just a group being loud and really just goofing off. What he wasn’t expecting, and really disliked knowing he should have expected, was a youma attacking a couple.

Powering up he left his gym bag on the ground before stepping out to handle things, even as he really just wanted to get home and shower before doing his homework and crashing. Damn it...why was it that at least one night a week turned out like this? Couldn’t things be silent for just one week in this city?

Antares snuggled deeper into her black hoodie, her uniform wasn’t exactly made for fall and it sure as hell would suck a** when it finally started to snow. The baggy jacket helped cover the skimpy outfit as well as keep her warm and unnoticed by anyone who thought she would be a good person to mess with. Muttering to herself she hopped from building to building, keeping her senses open for any trouble. For her everything had been quiet lately. Very, very quiet and it was just as disconcerting as when the world fell apart, actually more so. At least when everything went wrong she was able to fight back but there wasn’t anything to strike out at when all was calm. Life fell into a predictable pattern; school, home, classwork, patrol, home, sleep. If she was lucky that pattern would be altered by a fight but it wasn’t often, especially since it only happened during patrols now. She was left alone at school, apparently the rumor of the fight where she broke a guy’s arm off school property had filtered through her class. Now she was left alone… all alone… just as she liked it.

Her contemplation was broken by a scream and a internal ‘ping’ indicating a youma. Apparently it would be one of those nights when she got to hit something. A smile blossomed on her face, a cold, harsh smile even as she rushed towards the small park a few buildings away. She also felt a order signature flair to life near by, someone who had also heard the scream and was a lot closer then she was. Ignoring it, Antares sped up, dropping down from the last building and streaking across the street, past the iron fence to come to a halt in the open area the youma had picked to attack a poor civilian couple.

Her icy blue eyes took in the poor duo, the girl huddled on the ground scared out of her mind even as the guy tried to stand firm and protect her. The youma advancing slowly on them, knowing its prey couldn’t fight back. “Yo! Ugly! ******** OFF!” With a shout the senshi tossed an empty soda can at the creature, trying to gain its attention. “Pick on someone your own size.” She looked ridiculous standing there in golden strappy heels, an oversized black hoodie that looked more like a short dress on her, just parts of her uniform peaking out from the bottom of it, while her cap of wavy blond hair shined in the pale light of the park lamps. Her eyes never left the youma even as she snapped at the couple, “Get the hell out of here. NOW!”

Quote:
He had felt the ping of another order signature but hadn’t paid it any mind, as he had been trying to divide his attention between the terrified female and the youma. He wasn’t really sure which to handle first - the female who was being loud...or the youma. Maybe her boyfriend, or husband, who was trying to protect her but was more likely to get beaten or killed? Hearing that voice, unfamiliar to him, but loud shouting at the youma he watched as it’s attention turned to the senshi.

She was dressed...oddly, though no more oddly than his uniform made him look he was sure, and she was yelling now at the couple. Jumping into action he made his choice, as it was easier now to do so, and went to get the girl and drag her boyfriend, by the back of his shirt, away from the scene. “Get out of here.” He hissed at the two before pushing them toward the gate so they could make their escape. Watching her almost sumble, those heels looked like she couldn’t handle them, and he grabbing her arm and dragging her as she tried to slow him down - yup...that was going to end with a twisted ankle.

Turning his focus, now that they were gone, onto the youma and the senshi he went to try and find something in this small part to help. He didn’t want to damage anything but he might have to? The youma itself, was as the senshi had said ugly, it was large and looked rather thin but had long limbs and claws. Three eyes were now staring at them both, as he moved to stand by the senshi’s side, while it’s feet looked rather like cloven hooves and several slender cat like tails. Yup, it looked like some patch work stitched together monster - cute.

Pointed ears, that flopped downward as if weighed down by something, were focused on the two of them right before it lunged at them.

“Might need weapon...chain from swing maybe?” He called to the female as he jumped out of the way to avoid the incoming youma, that made a sound somewhere between a hiss and a screech.

Quote:
Antares barely spared a glance for the couple or the knight who got the two moving. She kept her attention on the youma, mentally trying to figure out the best way to strike at it while avoiding its claws and spidery legs but she was distracted for one critical moment when the knight ran up towards her and missed the youma attacking. She scrambled out of the way.

Barely getting out of the direct charge, a tail just missing the side of her head, Antares growled. She didn't have time for chitchat and she really hated getting distracted in a fight. “Sure,” whatever she mentally added as she tried to grab one of the whipping tails. With luck she could use the tail to distract and to some extent control the creature at least long enough for her to get close enough to punch it…. Repeatedly.

Quote:
Well, it seemed this senshi wasn’t very social. He wasn’t sure how he felt about it, he had never been very social himself, till moving here - then he’d had to change that. But he’d never been...aggressive as she seemed to be. Oh well, he could work with this. While she grabbed one of it’s tails he went to try and handle a swing and get ahold of a chain. He wasn’t honestly sure how strong he was as a knight and if he could break the swing somehow in order to get to the chain.

Turning from her, and from the youma, Venice headed for the swing set. He felt bad for what he was going to try and do. First he went for jumping on the seat and jumping with a much force as he could. Not working he got up on top and put his strength to twisting the chain free from where it was held in place. That was where he succeeded. He was able to bend and twist enough that he got one side undone. Hopping down it was easier to remove the seat and leave it hanging by one chain while the other he took hold of.

Wrapping his right hand with a bit of chain, so he could keep a hold of it, the page got close enough that he swung the chain at the youma’s face. “You handle it, I’ll keep its attention on me?” He called out to the senshi.

Quote:
Antares yanked on the tail she had in her grip when the creature looked to be more interested in the knight who had run for the swing set. He really was going for the chain, go figure. When the youma focused on her she grinned and dodged the razor sharp claws it was trying to cut her in half with. Again she pulled on the tail, wincing slightly as a second tail lashed her side. As tempting as it was to grab the second tail she didn’t even try, it was hard enough to hold on to the one she had and not get yanked off her feet. That struggle was why she nearly missed the youma’s current swipe with its crab like claws, rather than getting flesh between its sharp pincers it caught her sweater… and tore it. “Damn.” That was yet another sweater she would be sewing up and shoving in the back of her closet.

Another scrambling lunge got her out of range of yet another claw attack, this time the youma was the one screeching in pain as it pinched its own tail in between it’s black claws right before it backhanded her with its second one. Flying a distance away it took her a bit to regain her breath and climb back to her feet, a trickle of blood trailing down the side of her face where a stone had nicked her forehead. The youma did not appreciate getting it’s tail yanked on, being tricked into hurting itself, or having its prey get away. It was about to charge at the senshi who was taking a knee trying to get her head on straight when a chain smacked it on its muzzle drawing its attention to the little knight.

“Got it.” Finally able to stand without worrying about the ground moving too much Antares took an extra second to mutter those two magic words that made a ghostly scorpion appear at her feet. One that she promptly scooped up and tossed at the youma during a charge of her own. With luck the chain the knight was wielding and her scorpion’s magic would keep the youma occupied enough for her to beat the thing into dust.

Sailor Scout Attack: Scorpion Sting

When the attack is called out a ghostly scorpion around the size of a rat or a hamster appears and advances upon the attended target. The scorpion can be touched, swatted, hit, and stepped on but it is not recommended since it is able to sting through clothes and armor alike. When it stings, it's target gets severe pins and needles sensation in the limb that was stung... as if their limb had fallen asleep and was just then waking up, this effect lasts 30 seconds. Any residual effects are up to the target if there is any at all.

The scorpion can be dodged and after 7 feet it disappears and it can only manifest for 30 seconds at a time. It does not travel in a straight line, rather it will head to anything moving so it could be tricked. The length of the scorpion and the length of the effects of the attack are separate, if you are stung in the beginning you have just as long as someone stung right before the scorpion disappears.

This attack can be used up to a maximum of three times in a battle. When the three scorpions have been used no more can manifest until later.

So caught up in his project, of getting the chain loose, he hadn’t seen what Antares had been up to with the youma. But he did notice her just getting to her feet as he attacked, finally, and nodded once to her. Smiling lightly, seeing she didn’t seem to be too badly hurt but perhaps she would be sore after this? He really wasn’t paying attention as he was focusing back on the youma. He had noticed the blood on her face though, he’d have to clean that off for her after this. There was a small water fountain here likely - didn’t all parks have them and all playgrounds?

Taking another swing at the youma’s head with the chain, he was hoping to keep its attention on himself, he had to duck a claw aimed for him but found himself getting hit and knocked away with one of it’s tails. Landing harshly on the ground, rolling a few times, he lay there for some moments unmoving. His dark eyes opened and took in the magic the senshi was using, not understanding what it was going to do. He knew he needed to help though as he forced himself up. His knee had slammed into a risk when he’d landed, and tried to buckle under him, as he forced himself to his feet. Shifting his weight, favoring the likely bruised knee, he moved back toward the senshi and youma.

Picking the chain up from the ground where he’d lost his grip on it, when he’d first hit the ground, he took another swing at the youma once the blond was out of the way. He wasn’t good with something like this and didn’t want to hit her by accident. “Don’t like that tail.” He also didn’t like the look of those claws.

Quote:
Antares was tracking the path of her scorpion, watching it as it collided with the youma’s face, and nearly missed the knight getting bowled over by the creature’s tail. With a muttered curse she started to race towards the unmoving boy, he wouldn’t be able to protect himself while on the ground, but was brought up short when the youma let out a strange whimpering hiss and tried to paw at its face with its claws as her magic took effect. Having a tingling face had to be seriously disconcerting, again a rather mean smile flickered across her face as she took in the youma’s discomfort. Glancing at the knight she saw he was starting to get up so rather then finish running towards him she booked it towards the negaverse creature, they had to use her magical distraction for as long as it would last which wouldn’t be nearly long enough.

Once in range she punched it as hard as she could. The creature just staggered back, hissing in pain and annoyance while it’s tail’s lashed around it, striking out at everything as her magic slowly ran it’s course. Antares had to dive out of the way of a stray swing of the youma’s claw. As she scrambled to her feet the knight took her place as a distraction with his chain whip. “Keep him distracted! My magic won't last much longer.” They needed something to end this once and for all but weapons were fairly lacking in this tiny a** park and her punches didn’t seem like it was having the best results.

Quote:
“Got it!” He called out to her, he would keep its attention on him and hope that his chain whip would finish the job, it did count as a weapon and was better than his actual one. Without magic of his own he was glad for the senshi, as she possessed magic.

“Do what you can.” He would keep the youma’s attention on him as long as he could. Swinging the chain about, over his head, he let it lash out at the youma again. Aiming for it’s face where he hoped to damage it’s eyesight at least enough to make it hard for the beastly youma to fight and attack them, due to difficulty seeing them properly.

Ducking a claw he wound up on the ground again, as he had to throw himself out of the way of the other claw, Venice was back on his feet though sore from hitting the ground so hard and so quickly. “Something to hit it with...or throw….aim for head?” He called out.

Quote:
It was tempting to snap at the knight but that would be distracting. Besides she had finally spotted something that might work on dusting the youma, a branch that had broken off during their fight likely by a swing of the creature’s tail. Or it could have just been missed by whoever took care of the park. Or it fell from shock at the ugliness of the youma. It didn't really matter. It could be used as a weapon and end this charade of a fight.

The branch had become lodged in other, whole, branches so it took a bit to get it. Several curses later, and a twig in her hair, Antares raced back towards the fight with a large, jagged stick.

It was time to end this.

Calling on her magic again, repeating the same move as last time except this time she was throwing her scorpion one handed while on the run. Antares wasn’t really figuring it would land in a good spot, but any additional distraction was good. It would help her be able to get in close and stab the thing with the broken end of the branch. Not worrying about her creation Antares sped up and soon had to duck to miss the youma’s flailing tails, even did a little dive-slide move on the dying grass to avoid a claw. “Come on, come on,” She muttered to herself as she worked her way closer until she was as close as she could get. With one final breath she stabbed the youma with all her strength, hoping that this would be enough to kill the thing. Hoping that it didn’t have a shell that the branch couldn’t peirce.

Quote:
It had seemed his shot to it’s face, near to one of it’s eyes, had indeed made it harder for it to see as it kept blinking that eye. The eye seemed more closed than open as well. So perhaps that was, in part, why it didn’t notice the scorpion that landed on it and made to strike at it’s tail. It also seemed to not notice the senshi for a moment before it was howling over whatever had happened to it’s poor tail, not that he felt one bit sorry for it.

Watching the senshi get closer, diving and sliding and dodging he was impressed, not that it was too hard to impress him, but he watched as she stabbed at the youma and watched a the branch sunk in past it’s...flesh, if you could call it flesh, and it reared up and seemed to make some sort of loud shrieking sound.

Swinging again he smacked it in the neck with the whip he had just as it seemed to collapse in on itself and turn to dust that fell to the ground in a pile. A branch lying in the middle of the mess of ash.

The youma dead he let the chain drop, someone who worked here would no doubt fix the swing, and stood there breathing hard with flush cheeks. His dark hair, streaked with red dye, plastered to his forehead and to his cheeks. “That….went well...better than thought.” The words were pushed out past the breaths he was taking, deep and needy.

Quote:
And just like that, no more youma. It was dead. Dusted and gone. Antares was breathing heavily as she slowly got off the ground. Even in its last moments that damn creature got a shot in, it had knocked her away with one of its appendages. It meant she was more bruised and battered but at least she wasn't covered with youma dust.

Even as a sporadic autumn breeze started to scatter the dust to the four winds, ’Dust in the wind, all we are is dust in the wind’. A slight smile flashed across her face as the chorus of a song popped into her head. She wasn't sure who sung it, or even what the official title was, or the whole song, but right then that particular line seemed appropriate.

She glanced over at the knight when he started to talk, quickly taking in his haggard appearance and the way he was breathing, she wasn't much better. With a huff she stalked over to him and pointed to the ground. “Sit. Head between your knees. You pass out on me and I will hurt you.” She snapped out. Typically she would have just left but she couldn't leave someone alone who looked like they were going to fall over in a stiff breeze.

Quote:
Surprise flashed across dark eyes before he did as told and obediently sat himself down. His knees drawn up close and he ducked his head down as he worked on steadying his breathing. “Would upset Erebus if I passed out.” Again the words were managed past the breaths he took but he was at least sitting, and regaining himself.

A glance up at the blond and he motioned for her to sit also. She didn’t look too much better than he felt and she had taken more abuse from the youma, hadn’t she? He was fairly certain he’d noticed her getting hit more...she was rather aggressive, not that it was a bad thing. She certainly didn't’ shy from a fight, which in a war was probably a good thing.

“Thank you for help...you are?” He asked, not remembering if they’d exchanged names or not, the fight sort of distracted him and left him unable to recall if they had or hadn’t at least given each other their names. “Venice…” He said then after a moment as he shifted, placing his head back down and brushing his hair from his face; he really needed a trim.

Quote:
Antares’ gaze flicked down to the knight before she went back to searching the darkness, trying to sense if they were about to get an unwelcome surprise. Apparently he had someone who cared enough about him to be upset if he passed out. Where was this Erebus then? Why was this knight out here alone? She chose to ignore the fact that she was out alone as well. She knew she could handle herself, even if the scars she had proved that there were at least a few times when that wasn't true.

She kept an eye on him even as she studied their surroundings, completely ignoring his non verbal request to sit as well. She suppressed a shiver as her rapidly cooling body finally felt the cool autumn air, they both were going to risk getting sick but she wasn't sure the guy would be able to get to safety just yet.

“Antares.” Short and sweet, nothing more or less. She wasn't a big one for talking anyway. Not unless she was trading sharp barbs with some jackweed who needed to be taken down a peg or two and the boy, Venice, wasn't one. It felt a bit too much like slapping a puppy. Glancing down at him again she mentally sighed before crouching so she was more on eye level. “Any dizziness or ringing in the ears? Think you can get up? We got to start moving. Sticking around for too long is just asking for trouble.”

Quote:
Looking up at the blond he nodded. “I am good now.” Standing, slowly, he reached out a hand to help the female up and onto her feet. “Can go find place to warm up, food or drink...something hot.” He suggested, already planning to cover them both for something warm. It would be a good thing for them both, as it was getting chilly out at this point. They needed to warm up, before they got too cold. The walk home would only make it worse, and he didn’t want to get sick...Terry would just worry more.

“As a thank you...and to warm up - food and drink.” He offered before he continued. “Your pick of place.” Since he didn’t know a lot of places that didn’t serve Korean food, he really did stick to areas that were safe and known to him. He stuck to the foods he knew, mostly. He was getting better about it - a lot better...but he still stuck to the safe things when he could.

Quote:
Antares ignored the offered hand, she was more than capable of standing without assistance, and quickly stood. She looked at the knight, her brow rose in surprise before tisking. “No,” cold and without emotion. She didn't go out with people she knew let alone some male she didn't know. That was stupidly insane.

With nothing more Antares turned on her heel and started to stalk away. She paused thought for a moment, “go home. Hot shower, maybe some pain killers.” It was the best advice she could give him and more than she normally gave before stalking off into the darkness. She would stick around for a bit longer but really wasn't in the mood to deal with anyone else.
