He wasn't usually one to go out for holiday shopping but he'd needed a few things and while he was out figured picking up some things to send to his mother wouldn't be a bad idea. It was far enough away from the holidays that the mall wasn't too crowded but there were still more people than he usually liked. It made for a short temper and he'd taken a small respite on one of the benches so some of the larger crowds could move past.
It at least meant he could relax for a moment and check the list he'd made on his phone to keep track of what he had picked up and what he still needed to get.
He loved his family but they were hell to shop for sometimes.

After getting off of work she had stuffed her uniform into her backpack, changing quickly into something more comfortable for roaming the mall in. The reports were calling for snow later that evening and she was hoping to make it back to her flat before it started, but she'd just gotten paid and shopping was therapeutic. It was also safer, in general, than any other recreational activities that she could get herself into-- Safer for other people, at least. She still wasn't in much of a mood to be overly pleasant. Katrina shouldered her bag after tugging her boots back on, smoothing her fingers down over the front of her sweater before heading out of the cafe, far away from the food court and out towards some of the better shopping areas.

He checked through the couple of bags he had, ticking things off the list on his phone and then pulled up a map of the mall to see where else he needed to go. He wasn't in it enough to know where the stores really were and there was no way he was going to just wander around with all the people until he happened to run across what he wanted. "Bugger this place ...." he grumbled to himself as he fiddled with the map on his phone. The website of course offered a mobile friendly version but the map was still terrible. And his phone was still trying to remind him that it was going to snow later and he best be home before it started.

She was about to duck into a shop when she paused, rocking back on her heels as she caught sight of a familiar head of silver hair. Katrina watched the Professor for a moment before making her way over to where he seemed to be lingering on the verge of cursing at his phone. "Lost again? Not used to being in this part of town either. Professor?" She smirked softly, crossing her arms over her chest.

He looked up when he heard a slightly familiar voice, recognizing the black and pink hair from the tea shop some time ago. "I usually rather enjoy being unfamiliar with this part of town. Even more so at this time of year. But alas presents need purchasing and trusting the post office isn't always wise." He had a hunch though. "Perhaps though, you could help me this time. I suspect you at least know the layout of the mall?"

"I work here, actually." A smirk touched her bright pink painted lips, green eyes gleaming as she watched him. "So, if you're looking for a tour guide I would be more than happy to assist you... For a price." Whether or not she was serious was up for debate, her tones teasing.

"Im sure your prices would be quite reasonable." He smirked as he tucked his phone away and stood up. And he owuld be slightly less likely to get accosted by the vultures wanting to sell him for his 'lady' if he had one beside him. "There is supposed to be a William and Sonoma in here somewhere but i've yet to see it and the map was useless."

"Reasonable enough." Her eyes follow him as he stood, rising to meet his gaze once he was on his feet. "And you picked a relatively easy target to be lead to as well. Shall we?" Her head tilted in the direction that they needed to go in if he wanted to browse through the mall's William and Sonoma. "Shopping for yourself today or have others made their way onto your nice list?"

"My mother is fond of their things and I happen to know there is a particular spice gift basket that she'll like." Plus anything else smaller he could find to tuck in along with the spices. "I've finished all my shopping for myself since I only came out here for a few things"

"Getting gifts for your mother? That's sweet of you." A soft smirk touched her lips as she turned to walk in the direction of the store he'd asked her to find. It wasn't likely that she would be getting gifts for any of her family members this year. With Chase gone and James... That left Prissy, and Mome, but it wouldn't be too hard to shop for a cat and Prissy already had everything. "My shopping list is relatively small this year. I might be looking for more me gifts later."

"I am rather sure if I didn't get her something she would find a way to make me regret it." He smirked. "She's a rather formidable woman." Even if she was getting on in years. He liked getting her gifts though since she didn't have anyone else to look out for her after his Father had passed. He looked over at Katrina for a moment before turning his eyes to where they were walking. "Sometimes those are still fun."

"Generally, yes, but it can get dreadfully dull when you know what you're getting and there aren't any more surprises." She enjoyed surprises in life, generally. Good surprises, at the very least; the kind that brought thrills and adventure. Bad surprises? Not so much. She was so, so very tired of drama. "Have you enjoyed your tea since we last ran into one another?"

"That's why you let the store gift wrap things and don't watch while they do. Then you don't know what's in each box." He did that some times when he felt like having a bit of a surprise. "The tea has been lovely. More so since it's been the proper cold to really enjoy tea in the morning. He was going to go through it too fast though and would end up needing to go get more when he had the chance.

"Ah, but you still know what's in the boxes, even if you don't know which box it's in. It really does take a bit of the edge off of things. There's no real surprise, and certainly no thrill." She flashed a smirk in his direction, only to have her expression falter slightly as an alert sounded on her phone. Katrina pulled her phone from her pocket, brow lofting. "... Winter weather advisory. Freak ice storms have been spotted throughout the city." Depending on the nature of the ice storms, her bike might not make it. Fortunately, there was always teleporting... But that far across town to get back home? It could be exhausting. It would also mean spending another night alone.

"Then I should make this purchase quick and leave the rest for a time where I'm not at risk for getting stuck in a mall." He could at least see the store now and headed inside. They always had the little gift baskets his mother liked on the counter so it would be quick enough to pick one up. "I believe you mentioned a bike last time we spoke, would you like a ride home so you're not stuck in a storm?" He doubted she wanted to be stuck out in an ice storm on a bike. He didn't even want to think about getting stuck in one in a car.
