[General Information]

Name: Kelli King
Nicknames: None
Titles: Aquaman, King, Atlantean ambassador
Age: 23
Birthday: January 11th
Star Sign: Capricorn
Gender: Male
Race: Human and Atlantean
Moral Alignment: Good
Personality: Kelli is confident, charismatic, and charming. He speaks with little filter other than that of simple respect. He is a man who knows his worth, and being that of a King, Kelli knows his words have weight unlike most people in the world. Unless Kelli has a personal connection to someone, he would hardly give time out of his day to value their opinion. In order for Kelli to consider the words of another person, he'd need to know they were capable or respectable individuals themselves. Kelli was raised to behave with assurance in his every action, now to the point that he rarely even doubts himself. He has a tenacious, unwavering spirit. Although defeat or negative experiences would cripple some, Kelli's resolve is unyielding. He has a bit of an aristocratic behaviour simply out of his experiences in navigating those circles. He's a strong personality, speaking without care which can often seem brash or impulsive. He's also a fun seeker and adventurous to the core, never choosing to take his foot off the acceleration if the choice if he doesn't have to.

When it comes to friends and loyalties, Kelli is no slouch. He never forgets those who do him well. On the contrary, he is extremely vindictive towards those who betray his trust. He’s not afraid to pull the trigger on those who he used to call allies. Though Kelli values life as much as the next hero, he’s not against taking a life when the circumstances call for it. Although he tries his best to be a role model for his citizens as well as those on the surface, Kelli is more than willing to make the tough decision if it’s in the best interest of Atlantis.

[Personal Information]

Height: 6’5”
Weight” 240 lbs
Occupation: King of Atlantis
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Likes: Kelli likes the prototypical fun things in life with a spice of thrill. Any adventure, plan, or event that takes a twist will always be entertaining for him. As much as he enjoys sitting in for fine dining at his favourite restaurant, he’d much rather go for a night of bar hopping that ends in a chaotic brawl. Kelli is a thrill seeker that has no gauge.
Dreams: As King of Atlantis, Kelli’s political dream is to keep the city alive and functioning as best it could. He seeks to better the relations between Atlantis and the surface but isn’t overly keen on forcing it on his people. As King of his own personhood, Kelli’s dream is to travel the world for the rest of his life. He intends to one day leave his role as King to a successor or even abandon it because in honesty, Kelli was never happy with kingship.
Dislikes: Kelli hates being patronized, lectured, and above all made to feel like he has to do something. He hates having to feel as if the city of Atlantis is going to crumble at his every wrong move. The lack of freedom to simply live outside the role of being King often leads him to feel emotionally frustrated.
Fears: The Atlantean fears causing ruin for his city. Although he wants to simply live his own life, he fears that abandoning it for his own selfish desires would ultimately cause the downfall of it. But even more so, he fears that he’ll live his life as a permanent servant to others rather than dictating his own future. He’s scared that the role of King has a strangling grip on his own personhood.
Darkest Secret: Kelli wishes to one day leave his role as King of Atlantis but keeps the desire within his own thoughts. It is a guilty wish and one that he isn’t sure is even possible given the heftiness of the throne.
Favourite Food: Sushi
Favourite Drink: Sapporo beer
Least Favourite Food: Papayas
Least Favourite Drink: Apple or any sweet juice drink.
Loyalties: By default, Kelli holds deep loyalties to the city of Atlantis.
Intelligence Level: Kelli has a very high intelligence level after being tutored for years against his wishes in polymath. He isn’t what some would consider as naturally gifted or genius, but his hard work has made him well versed in several topics, especially politics.
Dominant Hand: Right
Strengths: Atlantean physiology and abilities associated with the King’s bloodline. Vast resources of being a ruler. Unwavering will and tenacity. High levels of confidence and intellect.
Weaknesses: Can be weakened severely if dehydrated. Still young and makes immature decisions. Impulsive and brash.

Cherished Items:
Graduation Ring – A shimmering white gold ring gifted to Kelli upon being declared capable of ruling Atlantis. Engraved into it is the harpoon symbol that has been so closely affiliated with the previous Aquaman. Kelli wears the ring around his left ring finger as a symbolic message for his never ending duties for Atlantis.

Trident of Neptune – A large golden trident belonging to the kings of Atlantis. It is one of seven powerful Atlantean artifacts which belonged to Atlantis’s first king, Atlan. The owner of the Trident holds the right to the ocean and seas. It is a symbol of Atlantean royalty and serves as Kelli’s premier choice of weapon. Kelli feels a strong affinity to the object and refuses to let anyone touch it as it would be a challenge to his kingship. Kelli had never been allowed to wield the Trident until after his graduation into the role of king at the age of 18.

Philosophical/ Social Viewpoint: Ruling Atlantis has its ups and downs. For Kelli, it was never about power or followers. He ruled because he was forced into the role. Although he resisted it at first, he became evermore in love with Atlantis and its people as time went on. He does miss living on the surface world but more so for the relationships he once had. However, the current conflicts between Atlantis and the surface world often prompts him to carry out orders that leaves the surface dwellers in disdain of him. As much as he’d like to make it work for both worlds, Kelli understands that he’s the King of Atlantis first and human second.

Religious Viewpoint: Kelli isn’t much for religion but he has learned about the various histories of the main religions in Atlantis. Although he isn’t a devote follower of any religion, Kelli understands that religion holds power and it is best to not go against the Atlantean values that stems from it. Kelli does, however, go out of his way to make showings during religious events to show face and respect in the Atlantean communities.

Romantic Viewpoint: Kelli has always been too busy for romance and has always been advised against becoming too attached to others. As King of Atlantis, Kelli had to always be weary of other people’s intentions. Regardless of the fact that he’d like to have a partner and a companion, people are often put off by how skeptical he is. He does enjoy flirting and dating, but the relationships admittedly never have any substance. Perhaps it’s because he’s never found the right woman or perhaps the timing was never right. Either way, Kelli isn’t against romance but it’ll take the right woman for the relationship to work.

Biography

As far as Kelli can remember, he spent his early childhood in a local orphanage in San Francisco. From what the caretakers had told him, Kelli was simply left at their doorstep. It was always assumed that his parents were probably young adults who didn’t have it in them to raise a child. Life in the orphanage was pretty simple. It wasn’t abusive or hard, it was just like a boarding school where graduation meant finding a new home. However, Kelli didn’t find a home or any adoptive parents for years. He had many friends come and go, and many adults ‘interview’ him but nothing ever seemed to pan out well. Overtime, Kelli grew to be a bit destructive. He started to internalize the lack of attention and came to the conclusion that there had to be something innately wrong with him. He started causing trouble in the orphanage. He broke things, argued and fought with others, and even talked back to the caretakers.

It wouldn’t be until he was around eight years old that he was finally taken into a household. The adoption process, however, was unlike any he’d ever witnessed. There was no formal interview or “get to know you” talk. He was just taken like it was a merchandise exchange, almost like the orphanage was just trying to get unload him to the next poor soul. The family that adopted him however, were different from those he’d seen come through the orphanage doors before. They were intimidating and professional to the core, not a single thread out of place. He didn’t want to go with them, and from the looks on their faces it was clear the feelings were mutual. Once the process was finalized, they took him home in a fancy, sleek black car without a word of conversation spoken. The house they lived in was enormous and busy with an extensive staff taking care of its maintenance. In this house, Kelli was never treated like a child of the owners unless it was in public where all eyes were on them.

He was quickly introduced to their child of around the same age whom Kelli only ever called “Cheon”. The two kids were apprehensive of each other at first but for different reasons. Kelli was quite intimidated by the change in lifestyle. There were expectations in behaviours he had to live up to, especially in the public space. While Cheon was taught early on how to behave, Kelli was much rougher on the fringes. On the other hand, Cheon seemed primarily withdrawn from socializing with Kelli – or anyone else for that matter. It wouldn’t be until several months passed that the two began building up a trust for one another through their prolonged exposure. Eventually, and with Cheon’s help, Kelli picked up the mannerisms of the upper class. She worked with him closely on how to ‘properly’ navigate the life. It was a confusing process for the boy, but he’d eventually come to grasp it by the head. In time, Cheon also confided her secret to Kelli – that she had claimed the lives of her peers in a fit of fear. She divulged to him her Homo magi abilities and gave her reasoning for being distant. She also explained to him that his adoption was probably a stunt by her parents to help her get over the trauma. Much to her surprise, Kelli was indifferent about the facts. He assured her that it wouldn’t change anything between them, and that her powers didn’t change who she was to him.

Over the years, the two kids grew very close. Although Kelli was neglectfully treated by Cheon’s parents, Kelli still had a strong relationship with Cheon. Much to her parents’ dismay, Kelli continuously encouraged Cheon to grow into her own personhood and ignore the roles expected of her. Both of them quickly became the talk of the upper social community as a notoriously troublesome tandem. They were adventurous rule breakers who often went against the norms. Kelli, however, was especially difficult to deal with. Not only had he become irritating to some, he had also become unruly and some viewed him as inherently corrupting for Cheon. Nevertheless, he was utterly loyal to the girl, sticking up for her against authority figures and peers alike. While Cheon had to uphold her image to a certain degree, Kelli didn’t mind tarnishing his to get a point across with other kids.

Unfortunately, Kelli’s life with Cheon and her family would come to an abrupt end. Around the age of 12, Kelli became lost to the family and introduced to the Atlanteans. During a trip to the family’s vacation home, Kelli and a few others were out on the waterfront enjoying themselves when a storm crept in unexpectedly. Being the farthest out, Kelli was first on his jet ski to be caught in a series of large crashing waves. He could distinctly remember his name being called out as he sunk into unconsciousness and drifted into the ocean.

When he finally woke, Kelli found himself underwater and strapped to a stone operating table in a laboratory unlike any ever known to man. The room was filled with advanced equipment that buzzed and beeped to his every movement. Despite being fearful of the new environment, Kelli was surely calmed by the team of doctors around him. They eventually explained the situation to him as best they could without causing him too much alarm. In short, he is the illegitimate child of the previous king of Atlantis and an unknown woman from the surface. They had always been watching him but were unable to contact him due to fear of repercussion with the surface dwellers. Still, they had planned to reclaim him around the age of 12 as they knew his Atlantean physiology would no doubt be developing around then, similar to Arthur Curry. They briefed him that he had no choice but to prepare for a life of leading Atlantis as its new king now that his father had passed away and there existed no other heir.

Although Kelli was skeptical at first and ached to return home to Cheon, he eventually came around to the idea. Never in his life had he ever been wanted, and now that he had the opportunity for something meaningful, Kelli couldn’t force himself to turn it down. The training and lifestyle was difficult to say the least. Kelli was never the best swimmer and it took a lot of training with Atlantis’s best for him to properly adjust. For the first few weeks, he couldn’t even sleep properly and required being strapped down to his bed. The academic topics were difficult to comprehend and the literature was even worse because it was in a completely different language. Still, Kelli remained vigilant in learning the various polymath expected of him. Over the course of 6 years the boy had been inevitably groomed into the role of a King, capable of courting an entire population on whim.

Once Kelli was 18 and mature enough physically, intellectually, and emotionally, the kingdom of Atlantis was officially given over to him by his advisors. It was done through a traditional formal ceremony where the Trident of Neptune would finally be bestowed to him. While some were at first suspicious and doubtful of the 12 year old that rolled through Atlantis during a storm, many of them had been won over by Kelli over the years. He had since grown to be a capable young man with all the desire to better Atlantis.

Kelli’s first move as King of Atlantis would be one his boldest. Against the advising of his court, Kelli made a public reveal on the surface that would make international news. Appearing on the footsteps of a parliament building in the United States, Kelli drew forward the attention of heavy media outlets. He proclaimed to them the existence of Atlantis as a powerhouse state with the desire to work hand in hand with other countries to not only better the world but establish strong relations for the benefit of coexisting. His great reveal to the world would mark one of the few times the surface had an opportunity to work with the Atlanteans and, while some were hesitant, most were leaping at the opportunity.

With the success of his reintroduction to the surface world, Kelli had worked from then on to build up secure political relations with most of the world’s powerful countries. While the King of Atlantis navigates the social and political structures of the world, he continues to be in the limelight as a socialite. With all eyes on him, Kelli is left with the weight of a state on his shoulders and the ever recurring responsibility of dealing with criminals that threaten the safety of Atlantis and the rest of the world.

Family:
Cheon Cho| Good | Step Sister
Cheon was Kelli’s closest friend and step-sister growing up. The two used to be apprehensive of one another but grown to be inseparable. She was Kelli’s partner-in-crime and he was very fond of her, especially since she confided her secret to him. Even after being exposed to the Atlantean living, Kelli desperately wanted to go back to see Cheon but was never allowed to do so. It wasn’t until becoming a king that Kelli would have the independent choice to see Cheon again. However, he was always hesitant to do so because he was sure that she would have moved on with her own life and he didn’t want to drag her into his own political messes.

조채령 Chae-ryeong Cho | Neutral | Step-Mother
Kelli’s adoptive mother was generally very kind to him albeit not to the same degree as she was to Cheon. Regardless of her soft spoken image, Kelli still found her to be a powerful presence. She nonetheless made sure Kelli was always well taken care of even if she never gave him the attention he wanted. Kelli lost all contact with her after the boating incident which sent him spiralling into his next life.

조백현 Baek-hyeon Cho | Evil | Step-Father
Kelli’s adoptive father never acknowledged his existence unless it was in the public sphere. The man was never abusive towards Kelli but super neglectful. His adoption served as a publicity stunt to boost their image but Kelli never held it against the Cho family. If it hadn’t been for the man’s ambitious and self-serving behaviour, Kelli would never have met Cheon or been exposed to a better life. Kelli lost all contact with him after the boating incident.

[Weapon Information]

Trident of Neptune: The Trident is a magical weapon that grants its wielder great power and the divine right to rule the sea. The Trident is an unbreakable three-pronged leister that serves as an extension of the God's own power. It can be used for base offensive purpose, but can also be used for a variety of mystical effects, such as cleaving a spatial aperture in the middle of the ocean. The trident is capable of controlling any body of water, creating water elementals, speed ships and other water vehicles with water, create fogs and storms of high intensity, summon waves of water to propel him at great speeds, and create earthquakes by increasing water pressure. It can manipulate and conjure water, as well as disperse energy in the form of bolts and force fields. The Trident has command over the storm and ocean, be it wind and rain or other aquatic effects related to its namesake. Furthermore, the object is one of the sharpest weapons known, capable of piercing Darkseid. The magical item is also capable of transforming itself into a golden gladius and back again to a trident to suit the needs of Aquaman. In addition, the item is capable of shrinking down to a pin-sized version of its original form in order to make carrying it easier.

[Ability Information]

Atlantean biological adaptation: Atlanteans stem from humanity but are biologically adapted to the deep ocean environment.

-> Amphibious nature: Because of his Atlantean roots, Kelli is able to breathe underwater and on land. He can be immersed completely without suffering ill effects. Being super-Atlantean due to royal lineage, he can survive on land longer than an average Atlantean. His super-Atlantean physiology grants him resistance to several sea-life poison and toxins.

-> Enhanced sight: Through constant use underwater and Atlantean physiology, Kelli is able to see in murky depths of the ocean. On surface this transfers into exceptional night vision.

-> Enhanced hearing and smell: His Atlantean physiology allows both to be several times more acute than human capacity.

-> Superhuman strength: Aquaman possesses superhuman strength on the order of 150 times human maximum, but his strength is always underrated, considering the company that he keeps. His strength is more than a match for most barriers such as wood, metals, brick or concrete walls. Only extremely durable metal reinforced barriers, have any chance of slowing him for any length of time. Aquaman frequently displays feats of Super-Atlantean (the average Atlantean can lift/press approximately 2 tons) and Superhuman strength. His strength would appear somewhat dependent on how hydrated he is.

-> Superhuman speed and endurance/durability: Aquaman's regular speed is approximately 100mph swimming underwater, although slightly less on the surface. In times of distress this has shown to drastically increase, and he has reached 1,000 knots. Aquaman possesses strength and stamina that allows him to swim up to 150 mph for at least a 4 hour period without significant breaks for rest or recuperation. Aquaman's enhanced physiology enables him to withstand impacts that would kill an ordinary human, and critically injure an average Atlantean. He has been seen in ocean depths as deep as 20,000 feet (3.79 miles) below the surface of the water. It seems that Aquaman has been able to travel as deep as 36,000 feet (6.82 miles). He is not completely durable against large fire arms, but is able to take a direct hit by small arms fire without incapacitation. Regular bullets are shown to make him bleed but otherwise glance off his thick skin.

-> Superhuman reflexes: While no speedster, Aquaman's reflexes are superior to even near metahumans such as Deathstroke the Terminator, and his reflexes are on the order of 12-15 times faster than a normal human. Aquaman is probably the greatest swimmer in the world.

Marine telepathy: Kelli’s royal lineage and super-Atlantean physiology grants him the ability to communicate with sea life. He has the ability to communicate directly with sea life and has done so throughout most of his life. Lately he possesses a greater range of control that can actually force sea creatures to obey his whims. Currently, he requests their assistance and they comply. He has chosen to continue to request since, if he forces them to comply, they will ultimately lose respect for him.

Expert Combatant: Training with royal Atlantean programs, Kelli has developed exceptional martial ability in water and on land. Currently, he is the best combatant in Atlantis, able to defeat multiple soldiers and guards in hand to hand combat.

Experienced Tactician: Though no Batman, Kelli has an advanced strategic sense and natural leadership qualities. His studies in Atlantis has taught him about war plans, strategy, and history. He understands his strengths and weaknesses very well.

[Weakness Information]

Dehydration: His strength weakens severely if he is dehydrated. He must return to a body of water after a period of time. Villains can take advantage of this by creating very dry environments. He does not become dehydrated, however, through fire/energy blasts.

”I don’t want to be King,” Kelli announced with a sigh at his advisor. Folding his arms across his chest, the King of Atlantis sank back into the seat of his throne. He was but a teenager and incapable of understanding the weight of the very crown atop his head. ”I want to go home,” he added before pursing his lips and shutting his eyes. It had been a week since he was brought to the mythical city but every passing day made him yearn even harder for the surface.

”This is your home now, Kelli,” responded his advisor. The man was equally tired of the King as the King was of him but remained dutiful nonetheless. ”You’re young and you might not get it, but you will someday,” the advisor sighed.

”Someday…” the words echoed in Kelli’s head. He’s heard that phrase enough times to write an essay on it, yet they kept insisting on reminding him. The boy tilted his head back until the crown of his skull came to contact with the throne. His hair was disheveled and his eyes wore bags of fatigue, the entire appearance of him spoke about the lack of sleep he’s had since arriving. It would seem the adjustment to sleeping underwater would take longer than the advisors would hope. ”Can I… get some food?” he asked with a disgruntled tone, hands now palming his frustrated face.

The advisor nodded before leaving the King to his own thoughts. Although the advisor has served Atlantis in several ways, the grooming of a teenage boy into a King was proving to be one of his most difficult tasks yet.

When his advisor finally left the throne room, Kelli released a sigh of relief. His head came forward, alleviating the weight from the throne's backrest. His curious eyes scanned the room before arresting themselves on the large golden trident encased in glass on the wall. His eyes widened themselves at the artifact. He sprung off his seastone seat and maneuvered his way over slowly, working against the water as best he could.

"Wow," he said aloud. Reaching forward, Kelli glided his hands over the glass case. He wasn't sure what it was, but he felt an affinity for the object. He felt as if it belonged to him -- or him to it. When he heard the large doors of the throne room break open again, Kelli knew it'd be his advisor coming back. "What is it?" he asked inquisitively, attention still latched to the object.

"That, my King, is the royal Trident. A powerful artifact reserved solely for the King of Atlantis," he replied slowly to the boy. "Once you've proven yourself capable. It'll be yours one day."

Kelli remained motionless, even as the words passed from his advisor through his ears. "The royal Trident," Kelli repeated to himself.
