The shocked expression, the look of horror...
Even now, he could remember it.
Jake was scared of him.
It... it was mistake to show him his "true" form.
There was... there was a reason why he preferred this form, but... since the time he had been broken leading up until now, it was... evident that he himself had gone through changes as well, mentally AND physically.
Chester looked down at his hand and flexed it, the tips of his nails glowing a bright green. Black tendrils trailed up his fingers, and he sighed.
It almost made it look like he was... tainted.
He hated it.
I did not wish to be born a monster.
If he could have chosen, he wished he was human. He wished he never lived the life he did. Even if he couldn't remember it, he...
Chester closed his eyes.
Why was this so JACKING complicated?
Jake... Sherry...
He had honestly wished, no, HOPED, so desperately that it would work out.
They seemed PERFECT for each other. They balanced each other out.
They were... made for each other.
... or so he thought.
But it was very clear Jake was extremely emotionally unstable right now, and... as his partner, he could not take that risk.
For his sake, and Sherry's sake, he had to end this.
Permanently.
Even though he hadn't told Jake what he was up to, the hunter had trusted him whole-heartedly.
Or perhaps, he was just too exhausted to care. The moment they got back to their room, he had collapsed in his bed and passed out.
Maybe he'd get mad if he should find out what Chester was up to. Perhaps not. It was hard to figure out what that hunter was thinking now, and.. it scared him.
He.. he would deal with that later.
For now...
Pulling Jake's phone out of his pocket, he sighed once more.
If there truly is a god in this world... please save these two.
