Despite having access to his parents credit card Aiden knew how much of a hard worker Alexandre was. Rarely was he ever without a job. If not at the tea shop or in class, Alex was at the new school teaching art classes to his students; a notion that Aiden was still having a bit of difficulty parsing.
For the years the two had been dating his boyfriend had never really struck him as the teaching type. Which is why Aiden had been taken back a bit when Alex had approached him several months back in regards to his degree. Fortunately he was at a point in his education where it was easier to change your major than those who decided to make a switch in their junior or senior year after haven taken so many of the prerequisite classes.
At the time Aiden had been supportive but also wary of Alexandre’s decision and rightfully so. One semester later Alex had talked to him, not long into teaching, and told him that he was rethinking going back to his art major as the idea of grading people's imagination and creativity truly bothered him and dealing with a class full of teenagers was not as he expected it to be; military school or not, they were still overwhelming and unruly at inconvenient times.
While the decision to change his major back to his original plan Alex had made it clear that he intended to finish out the school year at Romano, not that he had a choice. In the following weeks Aiden did his best to support the other him as much as he could especially if he noticed if Alex was acting more frustrated than usual.
He was hoping, as his key slid into the front door and he turned the knob, that Alexandre had a good day and that there would be nothing for him to grade so the two of them could relax and watch an episode of something on Netflix or something since their time together had been very limited as of late.
Upon opening the door, the first thing he noticed, other than Cadha at his feet barking for attention, was the house was warm and the fireplace was going. It was nice considering it was getting colder each day it seemed.
Other than Cadha’s claws tapping against the hardwood floor he didn’t hear anything which was odd because Alexandre’s SUV had been parked out front indicating he was home. There was no sound of water running from upstairs, nor feet treading upon squeaky floor boards or rustling of fabric; if anything the house was eerily silent.
Removing his shoes and placing his keys on the table by the front door he went to put his coat in the small coat closet before stepping into the living room properly and taking a look around.
That was when he had his question answered. A blond head was resting on the arm of the couch, and upon further inspection, Aiden found Alexandre to be laid out across the couch sleeping. For once, the burning wood in the fireplace was only smell filling the house as flames crackled and popped and wood was devoured by the hungry orange glow. The warmth was calming, soothing, and likely had helped lull the other to sleep as he no doubt was tired from work anyway - he worked hard.
Moving to grab a light blanket from the back of the couch he draped it over the other before moving to head upstairs and drop his school things off, he could do some reading on the couch while the other slept.
