The cool air nipped at his cheeks, coloring them a light pink hue, and a slight breeze tugged at his hair but otherwise the chill of fall didn't touch the ashen blond as he made his way across the city via roof top hopping. His uniform consisting of many layers of fabric, enough to shallow him up at times, did a good job of keeping the male warm.
Jumping to another roof top, landing with well practiced ease, he moved slowly across the roof top. The sounds down below carried up to him, honking horns, cars, and the general human traffic you found in early evening. He was headed toward the cities main park, knowing it was a hot bed of powered activity.
While he was a General, had been for years now, he still had an energy quota to make and he was planning to fill it tonight with a walk through the park. Maybe he'd get lucky and yank a starseed from a senshi or a knight even, a nice little trophy in his opinion. He would, soon, take some of his newer recruits to the park with him for a night trip to gather energy. He wanted to wait till they each had a bit more training before doing a group hunt in such an active place. He had too many lieutenants with a wide range of how long they'd been under him...but it was the newest ones he needed to work with - work them up to this.

Whisler still wasn’t feeling his best, even though he had done everything he could think of…and had even talked to Arias about everything…but maybe seeing Ashanite wasn’t the answer, and maybe Arias wasn’t the answer either.
Maybe he was just getting the flu. After all…it was coming up on flu season, wasn’t it? Ugh. Gross. He didn’t want the flu, and was just thinking about really thinking about making a doctor’s appointment, when he felt the aura of someone from the Negaverse coming towards him. Not just someone from the Negaverse…but a General. Oh no. Ashanite was here, and look at him, looking far less than his best.
Quickly, the blonde fixed his hat and tried to adjust his cape and the rest of his clothes, before flopping on a bench and trying to look as casual as possible, without being too over the top about it.
He plastered a smile on his face and waited for the General to come into the vicinity, though frowned slightly when the General appeared. It wasn’t Ashanite at all. When would he get it through his thick, stupid skull that there was more than one General in the goddamn city?
“Oh. Hey…Benitoite. What’s up?” For a moment, he had a thought of the last time he had seen this General…and how he had been curled up in his lap, with Benitoite stroking his hair…
s**t.

he'd wanted a knight, any rank really, so he could claim their starseed. A senshi, of any rank, was also a pleasing idea - he really wasn't picky. He didn't like taking starseeds from civilians, unless they were the sort most people didn't want around (drug dealers, rapists, that sort), so senshi and knights were the source for any starseeds he pulled typically. It was the knights aura which drew him closer to them and toward his former officer...how cute.
He took the time to look them over, taking note of the uniform, and shook his head. Still a knight - what a shame. He had offered to change that for them, to give them their old name back, and he still would....if he could. Those glowing markings told him he couldn't, that the knight was out of his reach forever.
"I see someone has changed their minds and made some rather...permanent choices in life." He kept the dislike for this, his displeasure, out of his voice but the words were drawn out and trailed off as he spoke. Tilting his head a bit he made his way slowly toward them, a sort of graceful stalking, as his boots clacked against the pavement with each measured step he took. Crossing his arms over his chest he managed to look down the end of his nose at the other, some he even managed with those taller than him somehow.

“Ah. Well, it wasn’t really…a conscious decision, I suppose.” Whisler pulled himself off of the bench. He didn’t mind being causal when it was someone that he was comfortable with…but this General…well. He didn’t like when people took his leaving the Negaverse personally, and…and his subsequent transcendence, even more personally.
It wasn’t something that he could really control…honestly both of the things that had happened were out of his control. He wasn’t one hundred percent sure why he had really left the Negaverse, but given the dealings he had seen now, it didn’t really surprise him that he would leave…but the transcendence…that wasn’t…planned.
He had planned to go back. To be with Ashanite…but…
But that hadn’t happened, and he really was glad…even though it put a big, glowing target on his face. And hand.
“I um…How have you been, Benitoite?” He was glad that he was taller than the General, and honestly, the look he was receiving wasn’t making him too comfortable…but he didn’t want to look away, in case the look turned into action…he didn’t want a fight. Not today…Not ever, really.

Really? It wasn't a conscious choice...that was interesting, good to know. But didn't everyone have some bit of choice, even if it was near minuscule? Time to see if he couldn't find anything else out from the other. "Somehow I doubt that you had no conscious choice in the matter." Now to work this to his favor, to gathering a little bit of information.
"Tell me, how does such a thing happen? Seeing as you claim no conscious choice in the matter. I fail to see how that is possible."
If the other expected him to back up, or to be on guard because he was standing up and showing the height difference Whisler would get no such thing from him. He had grown up, climbed the ranks, while being shorter than most others. He had fought against and even killed those who were bigger than him. Height, even rank, didn't scare him at this point. How vicious a person was...that could, for obvious reasons. But size - never.
Looking up at the other, while somehow looking down at the other, he let his eyes lids drop a bit to look almost tired or lazy and relaxed. If this turned into a fight he could handle it, though he still thought Whisler too weak to start a fight. "I've been well. I've found myself a few more children to bring into my embrace." He answered easily. He didn't say the words out right but it was obvious what he meant - he'd been corrupting people.
"So sad that you won't get to be big brother to them." Not that he sounded sad in the slightest bit.

The blonde knight shrugged. “No idea. One minute I had a General King’s hand wrapped around my starseed...and the next I was glowing. I literally had no time to have some awful grand master plan or anything, so stop being so smug.”
When the General mentioned him being a ‘big brother’ to those he was corrupting, it was all Whisler could do not to roll his eyes, but somehow, he refrained. “I see. Well. Perhaps I could still meet them. Perhaps I could coax them out of your cold embrace and into the warm embrace of the light.”
He wasn’t afraid, not afraid at all. This wasn’t someone who caused any fear in him…but he didn’t want to fight. That wasn’t what he was trying to do either. This General had compassion in him…somewhere. Maybe. Or at least, he was a damn good actor pretending to have compassion…when he had held Whisler before, it sure felt like compassion.
“…You know, Benitoite, you don’t have to stay in the darkness either…”

So they had been going to be brought back in and it had failed, and resulted in this glowing knight in front of him - how nice. "If I wanted to be smug...I'd do it after I'd beaten you into the ground and made a bloody mess of you. Then I'd be smug." This was just arrogance and confidence, not that there was much difference with the petite General.
"I think not. My officers are quite safe in my loving embrace. I assure you that I'm not cold in the slightest with my officers." He kept them safe, and would kill whomever he had to in order to assure it. If he had to make a river of blood flow - he would. They were his officers and he had lost officers before, to death and to the other side, he would not lose any more and he would not see them harmed unless it was unavoidable.
Laughing he shook his head, and smiled. It was something soft, showing he wasn't all that old, though his eyes did speak to his years seeing a lot - too much. But he was still young...just an adult. "The darkness...you make it sound so bad. It's not, it's warm and comforting. There is power in it...for those who seek it anyway. You had it once...could have gained more. You left though." And now he couldn't come back, that was left hanging in the air unsaid.

Whisler shrugged. “Yeah, like you kept me safe, I guess.” The words were out of his mouth before he had time to even process them, and after a moment, he could have just smacked himself. Why did he sound so bitter? He did not want to go back to chaos. Not at all…but still. He felt a slight pang of jealousy at the officers that Benitoite so lovingly talked about.
Christ. He was talking about pounding Whisler into the ground, and that was just rude.
“I guess you just didn’t like me all that much. So whatever I did. I guess I’m sorry. Maybe if you had paid more attention to me I wouldn’t have left…so just…whatever. I’m out of here, Benitoite. Talking to you is depressing, and I don’t really like it.”
His hand rubbed almost unconsciously at the glowing mark that was upon the other one, as though trying to get it off…but it was stuck there. Most likely forever.
…And that was fine.

"You didn't leave due to some injury or being beaten in some manner. I had, due to my own issues at the time, failed to mentor you enough and spend enough time with you." Neglect, something he'd learned from and had improved upon. He didn't neglect his officers now - never.
"You did nothing wrong. You told me you would approach me when you needed anything, or wanted anything. I took that as you wishing distance. I suppose I should have gone to you and forced the issue, forced you under my wing as it were. However, I respected your request and time went on and I heard little from you. Then I find you've changed sides." It wasn't an excuse but it had been the case, as far as he thought. He hadn't wanted to push the other back then, he'd given too mush space and it had cost him.
"That is why I offered to bring you back - to bring you back into the fold." He had wanted to pay the other more attention, he should have forced it. But it had felt wrong to force something upon another person, he'd learned his lesson. And he watched now as the knight of Polaris left and he turned to go as well.
The other had once been one of his own but that was in the past. The chance for change - ashes. If the other knight crossed his path in a battle he would met the pointed end of his spear - former Lieutenant or not. He couldn't bring him back and fix the past.

Benitoite’s words resounded in Whisler’s head as he walked away…it was stupid. He wished that he could remember what had really happened…but…Benitoite didn’t even seen upset. Didn’t seem like he cared at all, really…and while he wasn’t looking for any sort of sympathy…maybe it would have been nice?
Or something?
Maybe it would have just been nice to know that the General really did still have compassion…but, maybe he didn’t.
The knight paused for a moment and looked back, half hoping to see Benitotie still there, watching him or…something…but no. He had walked off as well, and that was almost worse than the General attacking him.
…He didn’t like being given up on.
With a heavy sigh, Whisler broke into a run, not stopping until he was close enough to home.
What a disaster.
