Lika was blind. She had other ways of seeing, yes, but she didn't know the colors, what patterns were on her sweatter, or what a cloudy sky looked like. She saw through into a diffrent world, one of spirits, wrapped up in secrets and choices she didn't all the way understand. When at the orphanage, the other children were nice, but not exactly accepting of Lika's obnormalities. She would stare at things that no one else could see and talked to an empty room. Lika grew quiet with her time in the orphanage, and when talked to, she would more often wisper into her long hair, attempting to hide from the physical world she could not see. Like was not abbandonded at the orphanage, she was accomidated and had all the same oppertunities as all the other children, but she needed more to make up for her sight. Often Lika worked twice as hard for the same result, compared to other kids. It frustrated her, and slowly, she started to grow appathetic.

Abrus had seen the children running around on halloween. They were in groups of children playing together and trick or treating in groups, there were parents and children that bonded over the fun of haloween. It got Abrus thinking. He was going to school to improve his preformance, a preformance that was already quite sucesfull, but was that all he would have in life? Just living the showbiz life, being the star was loanly. As if absentmindedly, Abrus found himself having wandered right to an orphanage. With a shrug, the kirin walked in to talk to the matron. Talking to the matron, he offered to preform his act for the kids. Excitedly, the kids rushed to circle Abrus as he preformed his sword swallowing act, juggeling of flaming torches act, and various others. The children laughed and cried in joy. Abrus smiled, until he noticed a little girl in the back, who didnt appear to be paying attention at all. Abrus cocked his head and approached the child.

Lika heard a stranger come and preform or somesuch. She heard his voice, felt the heat of the fire from his torches, and was able to get the jist of what was happening by the excited yells of her peers. She fidgeted with her long hair while waiting to see what would happen. Suddenly a bright flash in the other world startled the small deamon. The children also made "oohs" and "ahhs", indicationg that something had happened her as well. Curiosity captured Lika, and she found herself keeping track of the stranger by where his voice was coming from. Too shy to really go up to the stranger, she fallowed him with her ears, trying to learn more.

Abrus had really gone all out, and preformed a pretty spell at the end of his act, to really impress the kids. Their wows and yays added to the kirin's ego, and he bowed with a flourish. His act complete, the kirin spent more time simply talking with the kids. An itch caought his tail, and he swished it as if a fly was botheing him. Abrus looked around for the source of the feeling, and found a small little girl staring at him open mouthed. Abrus leaned over to the matron and asked about her. Collecting her name, Abrus walked over to the little girl. "Hello, enjoy the preformance?" the kirin asked with a grin,

Lika noticed her mouth was agape and closed it quickly, using her hair to hide herself from the stranger. "Umm..." Lika fidgeted with the hem of her sweater, "I, im blind... " Lika looked down at the ground apologetically. For some reason she always felt it was partly her fault for her disability. She personally wouldnt change her eyes, but everyone else always seemed to pitty her for it. It made her feel that maybe she was worth pittying, clutching the hem of her sweater again, she mustered some courage. "Um.. What was that... Thing at the end of your preformance?"

Abrus frowned. If she was blind, how did she see the flashy magic he had preformed? There had to be something curious here. "Hummm," Abrus tapped his chin, his tail swishing as he thought, "So you cant see, but you saw the spell i had cast at the end?" Lika tilted her head to the side, and Abrus continued musing, "Very curious... Can you see this?" With that Abrus preformed another illusion spell. Lika jumped, suprised at the bright light she was able to see. Abrus patted the girl's head. "Looks like you are something special my dear, tell me about it."

Lika was surprised by the hand on her head. It felt warm and comforting. The nightmare shifted from foot to foot, embarrassed. She had never gotten attention like this before, even if it was rather shocking and made her think about her life in general. Lika smiled, this was going to be a good thing. Her new caretaker seemed like a friendly, and as such, nice person.
