It had been quite the shock to both of them when they had just been talking and all of the sudden a rubber tonfa had shown up to hover in front of Matt. He had reached out and grabbed in out of confusion more then anything and had ended up transforming into Siwa Oasis, Page of Uranus, thanks to it. Of course Matt had been surprised and a little freaked out thanks to is but Terry had powered up and explained what was going on to his older brother. By the time the explanation was over Matt had calmed down and both had powered down.
Now Matt and Terry were sprawled out on the floor of Terry and Seung's room, Seung being at class, and were doing their best to ignore the previous topics for something a bit lighter. In this case said topic turned out to be Mass Effect, both the trilogy and the upcoming Andromeda.
"This run is going to be number what now?" Matt asked in reference to the play through that Terry was going to be doing of the trilogy. He himself had played the trilogy a couple of times, mostly to see what the differences between classes and choices were, but knew that his little brother had played more times. Matt liked the games and loved to play video games but he didn't spend a lot of time on them since he preferred to get outside and be active which is one of the reasons why he has the job he does right now.
"Six. It's play through number six." Terry said with an unconcerned shrug. While he liked to go outside and spend time out there being active, video games were a passion of his and the reason why he had gotten into video game making in the first place. "I'm going to do the run through playing male Shepard, spacer background, biotic Sentinel class, paragon leanings, and eventually romance Kaidan." He said explaining a few of the choices he would be making in the game. Last time around he had played an infiltrator female Shepard with renegade leanings who romanced Garrus in the second and third games.
Matt gave his brother an amused look when he heard just who was going to be romanced. "So this makes it the second Kaidan romance?" He knew the first time Terry had played a female Shepard he had chosen Kaidan as the love interest then too. Not that he could blame him. If Terry favored Kaidan then Matt wouldn't care seeing how he himself favored Jack as his male Shepards love interest, Tali being his second choice in the line up. If he played through the trilogy another time he would probably pick Liara just to see what her story line would be like though.
"Yep. But to be fair it will be from male Shep's point of view this time so the romance wont actually start until the third game." Terry said with a smirk. He then looked at the tv where he had the Mass Effect Andromeda preview video brought up. "What types of romances do you think might show up in the new game? I'm betting that the Asari we keep seeing in the previews is going to be one at least." He said thinking over the very few characters actually shown in the previews.
Matt gave a small shrug. "Well if they are smart they will throw in all of the past romancable races, along with a few that hadn't been before." He knew that people would be disappointed if they didn't offer up some of the races such as Turian and Quarian like they had before while others would be upset that they still couldn't romance a Krogan. "Though I would just be happy if they gave us interesting characters again. Some of the ones in the trilogy are very lacking in character development while others are spot on. They need to learn from the ones that have the good development."
"Agreed. No more Jacob characters preferably." Terry said with a wince. That was one character he had no interest in trying their romance route seeing how it ended. Out of all the romancable character's Jacob was his least favorite, something his brother agreed completely on. "And hopefully no random one night stands like for Vega and Javik. Javik was awkward while Vega was just painful with how you manage to get him in bed."
Matt gave a nod in agreement as he thought over the different options. "I think they need to make sure they don't push romances on us as well, remember how easy it is to fall into one with Liara if you aren't careful just for trying to be nice to the poor girl?" And that just kept happening in every game of the trilogy, though in the second game it wasn't a problem. "It's awkward when you have Liara's father talking to you about how you better take care of her daughter and be a good partner for her just because you are nice to a friend."
Terry nodded as he finished customizing his new Shepard and started up the game. "That would be nice. I'm going to have to make it seem like I'm interested in Ashley this time around just so I don't accidentally romancing Liara." Something he always felt guilty for should Ashley be the one who was going to be sacrificed on Virmire. "That's another thing. They need to avoid giving two romanceable characters and forcing you to chose between which of them dies. That tends to cause tension between fans of both characters."
Matt gave an agreeing hum and moved to sprawl out so he could watch the game better even if he knew that there wouldn't be many differences to the game at this early point. "Oh well, guess we shall see just what happens when it comes out next year. You already pre-ordered it didn't you?" He asked, already knowing just what the answer would be.
"Of course I did." Terry responded with a smile then turned his attention to the game completely. For the next few hours the brothers enjoyed the game, making comments here and there, making notes on how the class Terry picked worked differently from the last one.
