Mysterious Wreckage
Prompt 2

Solo or RP Format
Counts as 5 RP growth Points
Solo word minimum is 750, RP post minimum is 7

Rumors are spreading of a traveler who has entered the area. Apparently, this traveler has a strange item they claim comes from a different time. It's hard to believe what people are saying, and the only way to really know what is going on is if you see it with your own eyes. So, you make it a point to travel to where the traveler was last sighted, and as you approach you notice a crowd. The traveler is holding up an object, high above their head, and shouting across the crowd. Some approach to get a closer look, some appear fearful, but everyone can agree...this is something no one has ever seen before.

What exactly is the traveler showing off? Roll 1d6 to determine what strange item has been found using the guide below:

Rolled 1-2

The traveler pulls out a strange piece of metal, warped a bit on the edges and covered with an unknown language. It looked similar to what you've read, and you think you can make out words, but overall it doesn't make much sense.

Rolled 3-4

The traveler pulls out a strange piece of metal, wound around and almost bouncy in nature. It seems a bit sharp on the edges, but in general it looks like it could possibly be some sort of jewelry piece, if it was smaller.

Rolled 5-6

The traveler pulls two strange pieces of metal, which don't seem to go together outside of their color. One is covered in a language that sort of looks familiar, but isn't fully legible. The other is a winding spiral, which is too big to wrap comfortably around a wrist.

WC - 823

She was on her way back to her apartment after dropping off the dress and running into a very interesting person in the market when her long pointed ears and antennae seemed to twitch in tandem. They had caught the sound of someone with a loud tone calling for people to gather around him. Masika blinked a few times before she slowed her pace and turned her head to look at where the voice was coming from. When her dark gaze finally landed on the man that was speaking to the crowd that had gathered her interest was piqued. So, despite the hour getting late, she walked over to join the others that had assembled. To say that she wasn't at least a little bit curious would be a lie.

Several of the women in the crowd were murmuring to each other and themselves, asking what it could be that was worthy of being shouted about. Masika leaned to the side to see if she could get a better look at the man through the crowd. She didn't get much but she could tell he traveled a bit.

"A strange thing has been found that came from years ago." He started out, hoping to snag the viewers even more than he already had. "It could be one of the few remaining things left from that time." The man spoke like he was trying to capture the listeners in a story, waving his hands in the air for emphasis and everything.

Masika's eyes widened a little when she heard his words. Something from the past? Her mother had told her that there were old things from the past but she had never seen them. It had always made her think when she was young thing so now that she had a chance to actually see what it was the ancient people used she felt a surge of excitement. She bit down on her bottom lip and waited to see what the man had. Of course that meant that she had to sit through his hype.

"Behold!" The man finally said to quiet the people. "Things that were used by our ancestors!" There was a long pause between his words and his movements but he eventually pulled the cloth away from the objects that he had set up on a small table.

A collective gasp went up around the crowd and Masika moved closer to take a look at what it was. The first thing she noticed was the color. Both items were the same rusty sort of color. Did that mean they were metal? And if so then they had been exposed to the elements for a very long time. The hybrid knew that metals could flake and turn brow if they were left to wither in the water and sun. The second thing that stood out to her was that one of the objects seemed to look as though it had been a crude type of bracelet. Not that she could really say who wore it or even if they did. It was awfully large. Bulky was likely the better term for it. So perhaps it wasn't intended for that? Then what?

She eyed the thing with a designer's eye rather than a builders so she thought that perhaps it had been a decorative part to a vase? Masika had seen more than a few of the things with swirls and such around the outside to make the clay or porcelain look more interesting. Even that did not make sense to her though. It was a straight cylinder, more or less, and most vases she'd seen were a bit larger on the bottom. So that meant that it wasn't a decoration. She felt perplexed that she couldn't figure it out.

Then her eyes went to the second item that lay there and she noticed something strange. There were words on it. They were faded and looked a little familiar but at the same time different. Her head tilted to the side and she did her best to try and read them. Of course her eyes weren't the best from so far away and the harsh light of Oba made it difficult to make out each word. Masika gave up trying to decipher the wording and slowly fell back into the conversation that was happening around her.

"What are they? Did they really come from the past? Where did you find them?" So many questions were tossed at the man with the mysterious objects that she wasn't sure he would be able to remember them all. Masika wanted to stay and find out more but the sun was sinking behind the horizon and she needed to make it back to her tiny room before dark fell. So she gave a last look to the weird things then turned and made her way out of the forest of bodies so that she could hurry home.
