Zandala 1
Zandala rushed through the forest at full speed, avoiding the tree roots sticking out from the ground, her eyes constantly scanned the area for a moving or hidden form. She had her bow out with one of her arrows notched but this arrow was not a usually one. It was not made to kill something; instead a small pouch of dye was tied to the end. Anyone who got hit by the thing would be left with a colorful round mark. Zandala used it for her training when she was hunting her daughters. Today, she was doing the exercise with Kanika.

Kanika 1
Kanika ran and ran, deep into the forest of Yael but still within the borders that her mother had made for her. They were doing a special training today, Kanika had to be able to sneak up on her mother and not get caught. It was the hardest thing to do, she had to be able to get close enough but with her mother’s agility and skill with a bow it was harder than expected. Kanika was currently hidden behind a tree; she was keeping her breathing steady and waiting to get behind her mother so she could get her.

Zandala 2
Zandala slowed down and then stopped, bending down her eyes narrowed as she tracked her daughter. There was a smile on her face, Kanika had not been smart. While the Elaria had ran on the ground previously, now her daughter had left footprints on the large roots sticking out. Zandala glanced up, scanning the tree line. She also know Kanika was quite the little tree climber. The forest was quiet though, which meant Kanika had stopped moving. Zandala watched the foot prints, watched the foliage around to see if she could see which diection she’d taken before taking off after her.

Kanika 2
Kanika heard her mother moving, she really needed to concentrate to hear her. Zandala was quite light-footed for such a large Alkidike and Lumikani was impossible to track by sound. Both of her mothers were quite dangerous. Kanika pushed off of the tree and rounded the tree, she took off slow as she tried to track her mother but the tracks suddenly stopped. Kanika frowned before she heard the arrow and twirled out of the way. The arrow hit the tree that had been behind where she’d just been standing. Uh oh, Kanika took off running looking behind to see where Zandala was.

Zandala 3
Zandala smiled and took off running after her daughter; she was getting good at not bending down anymore when avoiding an incoming arrow. She’d hit Kanika in the head a few times to teach her that she could still get hit by an arrow if the assailant decided to take out one of her legs to slow her down. Kanika was not taking up the bow but she needed to learn how the user worked to be able to defeat them. Now though, she knew where she was and it would be a lot harder for the Elaria to hide from her.

Kanika run and jumped over things, she was leaving tracks behind and she knew it. Her eyes scanned upwards, she had a bit of a distance in front of her mother and so back tracked a little and then lifted herself up into a tree. She moved to the next tree and then made sure she was properly hidden so she could wait for Zandala to move under the tree. Something poked her and she ignored it thinking it was a tree branch. Zandala moved under the tree and Kanika was about to surprise her when something pinched her and Kanika yelped footing failing her.

Zandala 4
Zandala paused as she heard the noise. That had definitely been Kanika.
“Kanika?” Zandala called out, eyes looking around. She’d heard the sound from that direction right? Zandala took off but at a slower pace, eyes looking for Kanika. She finally spotted the Elaria on the ground and ran to her.
“Are you okay? What happened?” She looked for injuries, blood, bone, something, but found nothing damaging on her body. “Did you fall out of the tree?” Zandala made a face, if that was the case she was going to make sure her daughter worked out her arms a whole lot more these next few days.

“I’m fine, and no I didn’t fall out of the tree!” Kanika made a face, how could her mother possibly believe that was what had happened?
“Something bit me!” Kanika bent forward and showed her mom the red marks that we’re too sensitive to touch. Good thing she’d been quick on her feet and had rolled as she’d landed on the ground otherwise she would have broken something or maybe even sprained her back. Now that would have been bad.
“Look! That’s what bit me!” Kanika yelled, pointing to something she’d never seen before. “What is that?!” It looked like it wasn’t from around here.

Zandala looked up and spotted something she hadn’t seen in a very long time.
“That’s a… That’s a Maglardilla…” Zandala stood up, watching it as it watched them. “They’re from the mainland.” She helped Kanika up by extending a hand to her and pulled her up on her feet. “I didn’t think anything from the mainland could live out here. This is quite strange.” She didn’t know many people to keep such creatures and she was quite certain none of the sisters had one nor would a Yaeli have gone out and gotten one.
“I guess we’ll just have to get rid of it.”

“Well whatever it is, it bit me and is really creepy.” She remembered her mothers telling her about some of the creatures on the mainland but she didn’t remember this one. It was kind of easy to forget about such an ugly thing though, who would even want to keep one as a pet? Kanika made a face.
“We should just get rid of it.” Kanika concluded. “Shoot it into oblivion.” At this distance the thing would be sent flying into the air and out of their space. It needed to go back to whatever hole it had crawled out from.

“I guess I could do that.” Zandala notched her arrow again, yup with this kind of arrow head it was going to be sent a distance or at least knocked out of the tree. Zandala got as close as possible and then released the arrow. She was with amusement as it was hit with the arrow with an audible pop before disappearing into the tree tops.
“That should do it.” Zandala chuckled. “Alright, Kanika do you want to do one more course run or do you want to go back home?” Personally, she could go for another hunt and run against her daughter.

Kanika watched it soar with satisfaction. She didn’t ever want to see one of those things ever again even when she visited the mainland. Her back was still hurting when she moved but it wasn’t unbearable. It would take a bit more effort on her part, but she decided she wanted to do another run.
“Let’s do another one, this one kind of ended prematurely. I was definitely going to get you that time.” Kanika chuckled and smiled at her mother.
“Eight second head start as usual?” But she didn’t wait for her mother to reply, she took off into the woods again.

Zandala watched her daughter run off without confirmation. She knew she’d do that, didn’t expect any less if she wanted to catch her opponent off guard. She mentally calculated the seconds, counting slowly to give the Elaria a bit more time. This training wasn’t just for Kanika after all, Zandala wanted a bit of a challenge and tracking and hunting her daughter down was the perfect exercise for her too. Zandala took off, notching an arrow as she went and tried to read the signs her daughter left behind. She was more than happy that she’ decided to go for another round.

Kanika quickly climbed up into a tree to hide herself, she was sure she hadn’t left any traces behind at the end of this journey of her other to find her. She was going to wait and ambush her just like last time. She was so sure her plan would work that when she was hit in the back by an arrow she was stupefied. She climbed down and shook her head as Zandala came laughing loudly. Kanika turned in circle as she tried to see where she’d been hit.
“No fun mom!” She yelled at the Alkidike with a smile on her face.
