Rob was expecting a quiet night in after returning to the Prytaneum from the swamps of Louisiana. He stopped noodling around on his Les Paul (the volume on the small portable amp turned way down out of consideration for his fellow Dionysus Chosen in the dorm building) and picked up the bottle of wine he'd been working on, taking a deep swallow of the rich red liquid. There wasn't the compunction this time to drink himself into oblivion, not like there had been after the adventure in the Alps with the Stymphalian birds. For one thing, the worst that had happened to him this time was being temporarily turned into a small goat. No need to get blind drunk over that.

Setting the bottle back down on the floor, he sat back on the bed and began playing his guitar again, no song in particular, just noodling and processing. While this trip hadn't been as traumatic as the Alps, it still required some decompression. It was his belief that evil people still had some kind of motivation for what they did, some reason -- that was why he hadn't wanted to punish her, well one of the reasons. Yet it seemed that Circe had just done what she'd done for larks. What was her reason for changing people into animals?

He was puzzling this over when he heard a scraping at his dorm room door. Putting his hand on the strings of the guitar to still them, he looked up. Who could that be? He wasn't expecting any visitors, and his room was in no shape to receive company. Clothing lay strewn on the floor, the bed was unmade, and there were bottles, full and half-full and empty, all over the place. He really hadn't had time to make his room homey yet.

Still, someone wanted to see him, so he set the Les Paul on the bed and stood. "Come in?"

Rob grinned. "Mercy!" He quickly crossed the room and held the door for her, as she seemed to be fairly loaded down. "What brings you here? Sorry the room is such a wreck, I still need to do the laundry from the swamp. Pain in the arse, laundry, but it needs doing."

Sitting back down on the bed, he patted a spot next to him, all the while eyeing her burden, a couple colorful boxes and what looked like an electronic device of some kind. "So whatcha got there, love?" he asked. He then remembered she'd mentioned food and he realized it'd been awhile since he'd eaten anything. "What did you bring to eat? I'm suddenly starvin'. Want a drink?"

"Hmm, let's see, what goes well with chicken, rice and veg?" Crossing the room to the small wine fridge, Rob opened the door and poked around a bit. "I don't think beer is appropriate… what about a nice Riesling?" He pulled out a bottle and held it up for Mercy to see. "Kind of sweetish white wine. I think that'll complement nicely," he nodded with a smirk. "You'll like it."

Shoving some clothes out of the way with his foot, he grabbed a corkscrew and a couple plastic cups and joined Mercy on the floor. "I'll warn you right now, I'm not much of a gamer," he said as he removed the cork from the bottle of wine. "Always been too busy with music and such to get much into it. I can watch, though, and learn." He eyed her collection. "Um, what games do you have there?"

Mercy might as well have been speaking a foreign language as far as Rob was concerned. He listened and studied the game packaging as she reeled off the names of what she'd brought, absolutely clueless about what he wanted to play. "You know what?" he finally said. "I think I'll let you pick. Nothing too hard, easy enough to play for someone who doesn't know what the hell he's doing."

Rob poured the wine into the plastic cups and set one down on the floor in front of Mercy. Picking up one of the food containers she'd brought, he opened it and inhaled the delicious aromas. The kitchen staff sure did feed them well here. Retrieving the provided fork, he started shoving rice into his mouth, not waiting for Mercy to eat. "So, whatchu think?" he said around a mouthful, then pointed at Minecraft. "What's that one about then?"

Sputtering on his food, Rob choked down his mouthful of chicken and rice and grinned at Mercy. "Now where d'you get off callin' me a limp d**k, love?" he teased back. Was this her idea of awkward hard-to-get? He wasn't offended or angered by the remark, though; rather, he was more amused by it than anything. He couldn't wait to get her drunk and see what else would come out of her mouth.

"I remember Legos. Had some as a kid. You build s**t with 'em, yeh?" He watched in fascination as Mercy set the game up using just one hand. Girl knew what she was doing. "Is that what you do in Minecraft then, build s**t?" He chuckled. "That sounds easy enough, even for me."
