For a single night, strange bats descended on Destiny City after construction disturbed their nest! They flew over Destiny City's Fall Festival and a few nearby locations, descending on the local populace and attacking anyone they could. Being bitten by these bats leaves two small marks that will itch for a few hours. Then, anyone bitten will feel exhausted and fatigued. They become extremely sensitive; skin feels like it becomes overheated in sunlight, and bright lights are painful to the eyes. The victim will feel constantly cold and hungry, no matter how much they eat or drink. They may also be prone to agitation and bouts of violence. These afflictions may last only a few hours or a few days and then suddenly disappear. Destiny City can find no explanation for the sickness, and it has been unofficially dubbed 'The Vampire Sickness'. If you were bitten, how are you handling this? Is someone you know suffering the affliction? Are you convinced it's a conspiracy or joke, and just media frenzy?
Robert Bastion had left the festival early, once his brother managed to run off in search of that little dog he seemed so fond of. There was no point for him to hang around too long, anyway, as he had not really been intending to have a family reunion just yet. Maybe some day soon, if he managed to get power enough to be able to do the things he wanted. This was a life’s worth of bitterness just waiting to be cleansed, after all. There was no rush.
Now that he’d tracked the man down, he had no reason to hurry. He knew where Tony worked, and even had his son in his employment at the antique store. It would be all too easy to get them in place, when Robert decided the moment was right.
Halloween was just too cliché, he decided. And, really, it was one of his favorite holidays. He did not want to ruin the one good memory he had with his family with blood.
He was home by the time the news hit of the attacks. He was curious, thinking it was something related to the Negaverse, but it was hard to understand the misinterpretations of people that did not understand what they were looking at. The way the news spoke about it, they almost seemed like they did not want to report on it in too much detail. Mostly because they did not seem to have details. Just vague stories of attacks, of how and where to get treated for bites, of news concerning the symptoms of an apparent illness that followed the bites.
Vampire? What a ludicrous name to use. He was tired of fear mongering in media, despite it being one of his favorite tools to use in a personal setting. One on one, though, was much different to pretending some lies were facts and sharing them with everyone like they were supposed to believe it. If they had any idea what they were being fed, how the news was constantly manipulated to tell only the stories that could benefit someone. Whoever was paying the most, he supposed, or whoever had the most power to flex. That was what he wanted. Power.
He had money. He had status. He had a successful business, and a fulfilling side business. But he did not have power. He did not have a way to get his revenge. He wondered if Tony had gotten bitten by one of those vampire bats. Maybe someone out there was doing a little of his work for him, and he could take something away from this night after all. He would have to stop by the library the next day, to see about the status of the librarian.
See if he was allergic to garlic, or something silly like that. Still, he regretted not being there to see the attack. It probably would have been a good time to gather energy and steal some starseeds for his quota, and to keep his General appeased.
If that were possible.
