It was a thought that had passed through his head a few times already. He didn't care about things like marriage or even romance, but the thought of having a family was.. intriguing. He was around the age where society expected you to begin settling down, too. He had a stable job, and a decent place of his own. He'd already hand-raised Fennekit pups, how much worse could a child be? Not to mention he knew his magic was dwindling, and eventually he would lose his ability to imbue stones without aid, and the thought of asking other people to help was something that troubled him, as there would have to be.. some kind of an emotional connection, due to the nature of the ritual of imbuement.

And while he'd of course read about the Nightmare and Daydream early life development in books, it would still be fascinating to document it first-hand.

And there was another thing. He knew it was risky, and widely considered irresponsible, but the Hallowed were a group of people that also intrigued his inquisitive mind. But was it worth risking the child's life, to imbue when the Curse was active? Perhaps he could get a stone or two, and wait until after October to actually awaken them. His offspring's health and well-being were of great importance, after all, and there was social stigma attached to Hallowed children and their families. It wouldn't be good for someone in his position - a university professor - to do something so widely scorned upon.

He simply wanted children of his own.
