After spending some time at home with his family, and letting them get over the shock of learning that he was still alive, he had gone in search of Kani. Gael had thought that she would be home or even training but he learned that she had gone in search of him. To Oba.
At first he wanted to shake Kani senseless for doing such a thing but then a fear set in. He didn't want anything to happen to her. So he gave chase. He made his way to Oba in search of her, hopefully following in her footsteps. The Matorian male had hoped that he wouldn't have to come back to Oba so soon but he could make an exception here.
After days of looking and asking around Gael managed to catch up to his beautiful girlfriend. "Hello gorgeous." He said with a smirk as he stood behind Kani. His first reaction had been to scoop her up into his arms, but he figured that with his short hair and beard she might not realize who he was and start to panic. So it was a cheesy line of greeting instead that she got from him.

Gorgeous? After traveling to Oba and being harassed by all sorts of individuals, Kani was expecting to hear it despite it being unwanted. Her first instinct was to ignore whoever it was that was speaking to her, but against her better judgement she decided to turn around and confront the person. She might not be the strongest, but she could take care of them if she needed to. She had been training to handle things in Oba after all. "Who exactly do you think you're speaking to, sir?" she questioned, trying to be somewhat polite. She could do that for the moment at least. She was expecting some Oban annoyance or someone looking for a fight, but instead she came into contact with a bearded Matori man. "Do you need help or something? Or just felt like calling me gorgeous?"

So it was as he thought it would be. Kani did not recognize him. The scars likely didn't help either. Gael couldn't help the chuckle that came from him though. She had changed. She was confident. He admired her for that. "I do need help. You see, I am looking for my girlfriend. I'm afraid I left her in Matori for far too long and I owe her an apology." What could he do to show her that he was himself? "Maybe you have seen her? She is a beautiful Matori woman who uses a magic staff. Her name is Kani." He straightened a little, hoping that at least the tattoo on his neck would help her recognize who he was. He watched her though, waiting to see if it sank in.

Kani was shocked into silence. She spotted the tattoo, processed what he was saying, but believing it was another matter entirely. Of course she was hoping this day would come. It was why she had set out to find him in the first place after all, but she imagined busting into a building and rescuing him from the clutches of evil. Not nearly decking him for being called gorgeous. He just casually walked up to her!
"Where have you been?" It was all she could think to get out. He had been gone so long, she'd searched everywhere. What else was she supposed to say? She couldn't just act like nothing had happened. He looked completely different! Seemed completely different. Then again she supposed she was different as well.

Ouch. Gael cringed a little at her words. Not what he was expecting but he supposed he deserved it. He stepped closer to her and brought one hand up to push her hair away from her face and eventually caress her cheek. "I'm sorry I didn't come back to you." His trip was supposed to have been a few days at most but it had turned into much more than that. "If I had been able to get out of the chains then I would have." What else could he tell her? On the streets was not the place to go into detail about everything. "Why did you come to Oba, Kani? What if something happened to you?"

"I am capable of defending myself, thank you," she grumbled, shaking her head. She shouldn't be so frustrated. It wasn't his fault. He, well something had happened to him. What it was, she wasn't sure, but she was sure he would tell her about it. Perhaps not here, but soon he would. In private. "I'm sorry. It's, well it's been a while. You uh, well you look different. All your hair is gone. It looks like it has all migrated down to your face," Kani chuckled, hugging him hesitantly. She wasn't sure if it was just the outward appearance that had changed about him, and that was what worried her the most.

He blinked. "I never said you couldn't." Gael noticed that she seemed defensive and he thought about taking a step back from her but then she hugged him. It was a hesitant move on her part but he wrapped his arms around her without even thinking. "Ah, yeah. I got my hair cut but I didn't have much time to shave." Gael laughed a little creating a deep rumble in his chest. "If you don't like it I can shave when we get home." And he could always grow his hair back out. Though that one would take a bit longer. Then he realized that he was also shirtless and that left his scars on display. "I can cover my scars too if they bother you." He said to her. Anything to make Kani happy Gael was likely to do. "If you still want me I will do everything I can to make up for being gone so long."

"Don't change yourself for me, Gael. It's just different. It'll take a bit for me to get used to. I just....hi. How uh...how are you?" How was one supposed to act towards a long lost love? He had left for a reason of course. It wasn't like he had just abandoned her. Things should just be the same for them. Not weird at all. She just needed to speak normally. Deep breaths. Then words. Good words hopefully. "How are you? Oh wait. I said that. I'll just. We should get inside somewhere. Standing out in the middle of the road is probably a bad plan." Now she was rambling. That wasn't what she had planned. It was like she was meeting him again for the first time. Though this time was more awkward.

He nodded at her when she said that they should move inside. Of course he wasn't sure where exactly they would go. It wasn't like either one of them knew any good places in Oba. Well.. He could take her to Nera's but he didn't think that would go over too well. So instead he focused on her for a moment then brought his calloused hands up to brush over her cheeks lightly. "We can head back to Matori now." That was the only solution he had. But just in case Kani was not ready to return he looked around. "I think there is an Inn around here if you want to stay in Oba though." And with any luck they would have something good to drink.

"Staying in Oba a day or two longer might be nice. I haven't really gotten to see much of the area so far. Not since I was here the first time. Things really have changed quite a bit," she chuckled, resting her hands on top of his. The gentle touch of his brought familiar feelings to the front as well as more that she hadn't really noticed before. She had been so focused on her search for him that she honestly didn't know how she would even feel about him once they met back up. "Whatever uis easier for you, though. I don't wish to trouble you even more than you already have been."

He reached up and rubbed a hand through the scruff on his face before nodding. Gael didn't want to disappoint her so he looked around as his hand went to his side. "Well, I'm sure we can find a room or two at the Inn to stay in." He wasn't sure how Kani would feel about sharing a room with him so he mentioned the option of getting separate rooms just to be sure. "I don't mind staying a few days. There is a great food vendor near here actually." He wanted to share the good things about Oba with her so that she wouldn't focus on the bad; namely him being held for a while.
