It took only a few moments for Lysithea to reach her homeworld, and when she did, she continued clinging to the small youma in her arms, taking another few moments to make sure that he was still with her before opening her eyes and looking around.

Well…

So this is what Lysithea was like.

…It was beautiful. Lonely…lonely and quiet, but beautiful. There were gentle rolling hills as far as the eye could see, and the grass—plants? Whatever was covering the hills was a pale blue violet color. “Oh…Oh Evan…it’s so beautiful…”

The sky was a very pale blue and the clouds! The clouds were a shimmering silver color and the place just seemed…

“Magical…Evan…this…this is my homeworld…I guess…This is Lysithea…the place, not the person…I’m the person, clearly…”

She paused looking at the youma in her arms and sighed. “But for now, I think you need me as Cambria, so…” She let her henshin fade and stood there as Cambria, hugging the youma close. “I’m sorry for getting in a fight with Sanidine…but…ah. I’m just sorry, Evan. I love you.”

Evan was absolutely petrified; he hadn't had the wits to run when Lysithea grabbed him, and if he'd had skin to see he'd have been pale as a ghost. He clung to her, half out of fear and half because he knew she was his friend.

...Even though she'd just kidnapped him.

He had no idea what had happened, or where they were. It was a beautiful world, but he was too stunned and afraid to really appreciate it. His fear was momentarily numbed and he found himself cocking his head to the side as he scanned the area.

While Evan couldn't speak, and while he was sometimes overwhelmed by youma tendencies and acted silly, he still understood. He still processed. There were questions he had that he couldn't ask--what's a homeworld, how did she get here, how were they getting back, what was going to happen with Sanidine...

He nodded weakly, more reassured with Cambria here than Lysithea.
He loved her. He just didn't understand what had happened.

And he was afraid--of what she was doing, and what Sanidine was going to do.

Cambria plopped down on the ground, sighing and running her hand down Evans back. “It’s nice up here…I didn’t think it would be this pretty, honestly. I’ve never been up here before…if you want you and I can go exploring a little, I don’t think there’d be any harm in that, right?”

It was more awkward than she thought it would be, trying to hold a one sided conversation with a youma, and while she wanted to hug Evan and reassure him…she was honestly starting to wonder if bringing him up here had been a bad idea…he looked so scared…and that hadn’t been her desire…scaring one of her best friends wasn’t her desire at all.

“Well…don’t you worry about Sanidine…he can’t get you up here…I’m gonna find a way to help you okay? I know he said that he’s going to help you…but I think he’s going about it all wrong and honestly, I’m quite annoyed with him so I’m going to start helping you from now on…after all, I’m…I’m the senshi of unicorns…unicorns are supposed to be great healers…”

…even though she still hadn’t found a way to help Merlinite…

Even though she honestly hadn’t found a way to help anyone…and she was kind of useless…

But…maybe she wasn’t quite so useless any longer…after all…her attack had seemingly hurt Sanidine, hadn’t it? Maybe that was proof that she wasn’t such a terrible fighter anymore…and proof that she could hold her own…if she had to. “It’s going to be fine, Evan…soon you’ll be back to your old self, and you and me and Zack can cuddle and eat Mac and Cheese and just have a good time again…you’ll see.”

A part of Evan did desperately want to explore, but he couldn't imagine leaving her side. His ears folded low when she mentioned Sanidine and not worrying about him, but after a moment he just moved to crawl into her lap.

He didn't protest, he just nodded. He was tired, and still a little afraid. He wanted to explore the world, but he wanted to know that at the end of the day he'd still be able to go back home. Being in space, away from Earth...it made him feel even smaller than usual.

But Evan wanted to be fixed. He hadn't yet lost faith, but his self esteem and hope was low. There was so much that he wanted to say, but every time he opened his mouth (and he tried here, just in case space language was different than on Earth), only little chirps came out.

Trying to communicate left him frustrated because he knew how hopeless he was with it, so he just flopped against her and talked as best he could. Eventually, his chirps started to sound more complacent and relaxed. He finally fell quiet and then just nuzzled Lysithea.

He couldn't do much, but he hoped that he could at least communicate that he wasn't mad at her, that he wanted to be close, and that he wanted her help.

Now, he just needed to figure out how to tell her not to be mad at Sanidine.

He let out a solid sigh and looked up at her with pleading eyes, and if those alone could speak his thoughts for him.

Cambria liked that he was nuzzling her…honestly it made her feel better about this whole ordeal…because quite honestly, she was feeling kind of rotten about it all right now.

“Thanks buddy…I’m glad you’re not mad at me…or maybe you are, I don’t know.” She really wanted to cry, to be perfectly honest. Cry and just rage at how unfair all of this was, how unfair losing one of her best friends was, how unfair it was to Evan that he was like this…how much she missed his cooking and his stupid smile…

“I wish you could see how much Zack missed you…because he does…a whole lot…you’d be so surprised I pretty much think you’d just keel over and die of blushing or something if you knew.”

She sighed pulling at a hunk of the light colored grass and absently yanking it out of the ground, exposing the soft purple earth beneath it.

“I really wish you could talk, Ev…I miss our conversations something awful…”

A tired, sad sort of smile seemed to cross Evan's face, and his ears folded low. He nodded, agreeing with her. He missed being able to talk. He desperately missed being able to communicate. He felt like he was stuck with all these thoughts--trapped with them, with no way to get them out.

He understood what they were saying, though. He knew they just couldn't understand him. Still though, he could communicate with some body language. The idea of Zack missing him...

He looked like he was squirming, and like there were stars in his eyes at the very idea. It made him feel better to know that he was missed--that people were worried about him. He nuzzled closer to her, trying to be reassuring and hoping she would understand--and then he saw the purple earth and had an idea.

He stared at it for a long moment and then paused, pulling away from her just slightly. He reached down and grabbed two handfuls of grass, pulling them out. He kept pulling until he'd cleared a patch of dirt. He patted it down quickly and, happy with his work, he promptly looked up at Lysithea and smiled brightly. Immediately he tried to write something, and while he looked satisfied with whatever he'd written, it looked like nothing more than scribbles.

He blinked, tilted his head, and then looked up at her curiously. They felt like they were words, but now that he'd written them, he realized that he couldn't actually read them.

His smile turned into a frown and he hesitated once more before patting the dirt flat. His finger poked at the dirt for a moment longer and then he drew a picture of two people hugging and smiling. He flicked the dirt off of his finger and then pointed to his chest, and then Lysithea's, and then the picture.

He wasn't angry. He wanted her to know that.

He'd find a way to communicate the rest of his thoughts with her, but he needed her to know that first.

She was his friend, and she was trying to help him.

She wanted him home as much as he wanted to go home.
