Last year he’d gone and done the shopping for Halloween, picking up decorations and candy. This year was no different, though he was perhaps a bit late to do the shopping, Seung had gone out to the local Halloween store intent upon getting more decoration needs.

After stepping into the Halloween store, Spirit Halloween, and after gaining some help in the form of directions to where the decorations were Seung had no problem in loading up a cart with things. He needed new fake cotton webs, he’d thrown out last years, some spray paint, so he could add color to things.

The decorations were simple, not bloody and not made to scare really. He didn’t think his parents would appreciate it and he sort of wanted to have fun with the holiday, since it was only the second time celebrating it. He didn’t want to dive into the gore, blood, and scare of it all. He wanted to enjoy it, though he had heard about haunted houses and was interested in them.

As he put a few brooms into the cart he grabbed a few more decorations, he would be reusing the light strands from last year, he made for the candy aisle that he’d passed on the way to get decorations. Last year they’d had a good number of children, and oddly enough not all from their apartment building. It seemed that locals thought appartment buildings were safer for their kids, as opposed to walking house to house and such. He’d even heard of trick or treating at the mall - how odd.

Pushing the cart down the candy aisle Seung too to inspecting bags and wondering what would be popular, as well as things his own family might eat if they had left overs. Chocolate candies were an obvious but then he grabbed skittles and something else which looked like some fruit flavored candy.

The bags of candy went into the cart, gently, and the cart was turned around as he headed for the check out. While he headed there he could hear what sounded like adults and children all talking and assumed it was children here for costumes? He’d heard it last year as well, but hadn’t watch all the madness; as it had sounded like that.

This time he went to observe as children, who had just gotten out of school, and their parents took to looking over a large expanse of back wall where all sorts of pictures were. Each one displaying a costume they could get. The pictures were, from what he could tell, sections off by age group and gender. The children were thus all flitting about the same area jabbing little fingers at pictures while parents tried to offer up other ideas, in some cases better ideas. It was all a lot to take in as it seemed only more children were arriving with their parents, or on their own as teenagers started to filter into the back of the shop.

The workers were dressed up as well, some even with minor face paint, as they talked into walkie talkies to place orders to the backroom. Picking things up at the decorated entrance to the backroom. As costume bags were handed over to waiting children who hurried to fitting rooms to try things on. Some things were returned some kept, and often held to the children chest, he found himself a touch jealous that these children had celebrated this and he had not grown up with it or his cousin. Although...she was perhaps old enough to still enjoy it and dress up like the teenagers were?

He did remind himself that he had taken part last year by dressing up, and handing out candy, though he wasn’t sure if a cosplay costume counted. It had still been fun.

Shaking his head he turned and pushed his cart back towards the check out. Maybe he could help Terry and his family decorate, if they did, for Halloween?
