The caretakers were excited to have planned a trip to the beach for any student who wished to tag along. Alexandria found themself tagging along on this trip to the beach, but they were a little hesitant. Getting sand in their tail was never fun and the water would weigh it down a lot, but the beach was an interesting place with neat things to look at and interesting places to explore. The caretakers lead them all onto the beach and urged them to grab a safety buddy so that they could play, have some fun, meet new friends, and stay safe. Alexandria hesitantly looked around, spotting the closest kid to them, and approached them. "Uh, I'm Alex... Wanna go together?" They were itching to get away from the crowd of people.

This was Tolaram's first trip to the beach, he was very curious what treasures he would find walking along the shore. He listened to the caretakers, but he wasn't sure who he should pair up with. Tolaram blinked as a soft voice as him if he wanted to go with him. Tolaram wasn't sure what they sounded hesitant since Tola didn't really think of his eyes as anything weird so that almost never crossed his mind. Though perhaps the freshling was just shy. "I am Tolaram, and yes I would go with you as my safety buddy." Tola said calmly "I would like to collect stones and shells."

"That sounds like fun... I like to bring back stuff from trips with me to remember them by." They were fiddling with their fingers. They started walking off towards the beach, motioning for Tolaram to follow. The sooner they weren't surrounded by everyone the better. The others were gradually starting to disperse as the caretakers shouted their last rules and the boundaries they would be allowed to play in. Once they were in the sand, Alex took their shoes off and put them in their bag. They finally felt a bit better with the sea breeze and less people, and then they remembered they had their safety buddy with them. "Oh yeah, my who name is Alexandria, but I like Alex so... Yeah." Alex finally got to look over Tolaram, "Your eyes are really red, are you ok? You're not allergic to Imp fur, are you?" They hugged they hid their tail behind them as they spoke.

Tolaram held up a blue bucket that he intended to use to collect rocks and shells for his collection. Tola followed the freshling having not gotten their name yet. Tolaram listened to the rules though he wasn't too worried about them, he figured he would be alright as long as he stayed with his team buddy and near the caretakers. Tolaram nodded and said "Nice to meet you Alex." Then he blinked and said "Huh?? No I'm not allergic to anything, these are just my eyes. Why is there something odd about them?" Tolaram bite his lip and thought a moment his eyes were normal to him, be it as they were what he looked in the mirror at every day. Then he looked at Alex and shrugged "I like my eyes the way they are." Then Tola went back looking down to hunt for rocks.

"My friend who was allergic to vesper cats would have red eyes kinda like that... But you's aren't quite like that I guess. They're different." They shrugged, "Didn't mean anything by it, I just don't want you to be hanging around me if you were allergic or something. But it's good that you're not so that we don't have to get other safety buddies." Alex said all this flatly as they picked through the soft sand. If they had to get different partners, then it would cause a lot of trouble for the caretakers. "Here." They picked up a flat, thin black rock. "You can have this and add it to your collection."

Tolaram blinked still confused by this freshling, he couldn't think of anyone else pointing out that his eyes were wrong, oh well. Tola still thought he was fine since no one could really prove to him otherwise, his eyes didn't itch and it wasn't hard to see really, maybe a little blurry, but that was Tola's world. He would likely need to sit at the front of the class at school or get some glasses to help him see better. "I'm fine thank you." He picked up a shinny purple rocked to exchange for the shinny flat rock. Tola didn't see a reason to get worked up over what Alex said they hadn't done any harm after all.

Alex hadn't expected to get a rock in return. They took it and looked it over in the light. "Thanks." The hybrid slide the shiny purple stone into their bag to add to their collection at home. It was safe to say that anyone who laid eyes on their collection would think they were being a bit of a hoarder, but that still didn't stop Alex from collecting. Maybe less things, but collecting nonetheless. "Now when I look at this rock, I can remember Tola gave it to me at the beach."" They nodded, patting their bag. "Do you plan on making anything out of the stuff you get today?" The hybrid inquired curiously as they continued to comb the beach.

Tolaram smiled softly and then turned putting his new black stone in a safe place. Before looking for other pretty stones and shells for his collection. Tolaram smiled and then said "And I will remember that Alex gave me this stone at the beach." Tolaram shook his head "I don't make anything out of my collection I just catalog them and display them in my dorm room, what about you?" Tola picked up a white shell with a shiny pink and purple inner part. Tolaram thought it odd to think about making the stones and shells into anything else, he liked them just the way they were.

Alexandria watched as Tolaram picked over the beach, adding other shells and rocks to their collection. The hybrid never did much with their things besides pour over them from time to time, but they did know that others liked to make shell necklackes and things or the sort. "Oh, yeah. My collection..." Tola's collection of things sounded so organized. Alex's stuff on the other hand, was not. "My stuff is in a big box in my closet." They sighed a little at the thought. "It's starting to spill over a bit..." Getting a dedicated shelf to display all their treasures and going through their things would help a ton, but Alex never got around to doing things like that.

Tolaram picked up a few more rocks and shells for his collection before the caretakers called out that it was time to go home. Tola was sad he didn't want to go home already it felt like they had only just gotten there. Oh well nothing could be done for it, at least Tola had a chance to meet a new freshling and collect some nice stones. "I can tell you how to organize your collection better on the ride home if you like." He said softly. He shook his head imagine someone just putting their collection in a box where no one could see it.

Alex was also sad that the day came to a close, but they would have memories of it. As they settled in on the bus, Tola offered to help organize the hybrid's growing hoard. "I'd like that." They smiled, rubbing their new stone in their hands as they made their way back to school.
