Sagasu

What shall we do with a drunken sailor
What shall we do with a drunken sailor
What shall we do with a drunken sailor
Early in the morning…

Sagasu missed waiting for the right tide to return to her old home, waiting for the thin passage that only appeared in the sea at specific times. Sagasu and her “sisters” often waited for it to be become a solid rocky path that they could use to reach their pride safely.

The pink lioness’ bright coat was shining under the pale moonlight and the mermaid sang with a voice that was as beautiful as it was eerie. This time she was alone near the water's edge and she waited for other voices to join in with the most perfect timing, giving the song all the more impact... and they never came.

Sighing, the lioness moved away from the shore with graceful steps, watching the lands that stretched before her eyes with a narrowed gaze that was both uninterested as it was tired. This was her new home now, she'd decided and it was filled with strange new things and great opportunities - at least that was how she chose to see it.

User Image"Our anchor we'll weigh,
And our sails we will set.
Goodbye, fare-ye-well,
Goodbye, fare-ye-well.
The friends we are leaving,
We leave with regret,
Hurrah, my boys, we're homeward bound."

His voice was nothing to sing home about, if anything it was rough and salty, it sounded of the waves that he had lived beside his whole life. When you were born by the sea you got used to mouth falls of saltwater when you caught fish, a throatfull when you swam in big waves and sand in every oriface including your nose and throat, it made the voice rough but also gave character. Triton had character in spades. He was after all descended of one of the oldest lines in the Bahari, a long line of guards and captains whom had always protected the shore line.

The sea, this place, the pride it was his home and he couldn't think of a better place to live. Of course he had also gotten other things on his mind of late. The unusual events at the crowning of the new king, his mothers words about him being a grown adult now, but mostly, the soft pink pelt of the female he had met at the celebrations. He couldn't get her out of his head that was for sure and that, was problematic. He'd spent the whole of his young life making sure he was throng and tough like his ancestors so he could be the very best guard he could be and now he was feeling distracted. The song he worbled down the sands was a reminder that he was home, that it was his dusty to protect it. It just so happened that maybe there was something else he needed to protect that wasn't just 'The Pride'.

Shaking his head from his reverie the pale male lion stopped in his song and his tracks as the soft pink female materialised right in front of his eyes. "I was just thinkin' about you lassy." He blurts his pale cheeks flushing pink in an instant. He really hadn't meant to blurt that out. Well it was out there now. "Uh I mean I was thinkin' about how you're settling in..obviously." He clears his throat turning his ice green eyes away, he didn't want to stare after all, he was pretty sure she wouldn't like that.

Sagasu frowned slightly when she was suddenly pulled out of her thoughts, not particularly happy about finding herself alone with a male without his sister around or being called a word that the pirates had often used when addressing females. But it was hard to stay annoyed at Triton when this particular male was so very non-confrontational and his kind words went straight for the hole in her chest. Well, it wasn’t the first time she was alone with him anyway and Sagasu wouldn’t lie to herself either. The green-eyed male had played a large part in her reasons for staying in the pride.

“I miss home.” She admitted aloud, slowly moving to sit by his side and facing the ocean. “But I think I’ll like it here.”

Triton smiled lightly, his ice green eyes falling on the petite female as she sat down beside him. Resting his own hindquarters down in to the sand. Lowering his head his dark mane touches her pale pink shoulders.

"I know being around me makes you uncomfortable." He whispers tilting his head in a comical fashion. " I wont be angry if you walk away." He lowers his body further towards the sand his belly resting on the soft grains.

Turning his nose upwards so he was looking up at the lovely female instead of staring down at her he smiles a wide grin. "I hope you think of this place as home one day. I'v never felt home sick, I'v never even gone past the borders of the Bahari." He lets out a gentle sigh. "I suppose that doesn't help. I'v never wanted to leave here though so maybe you can make it home."

Sagasu's eyes softened as she looked down at the male, her smile amused. He always seemed to know the right thing to do to put her at ease, didn't he? It was really hard to feel intimidated when he was looking up at her like that with bright eyes that seem see right into her soul. Those eyes would be the end of her.

"It's not you, you know. I'm just not used at being around... males."
She finally admitted, avoiding his gaze. "There were only a couple of males in my former pride and things were very different there. But... I've decided to stay. I'm not going anywhere."

"Do you think the little ones will be alright? Your rulers seem kind." She changed the subject none-too-discreetly. It was still hard to talk about her pride and thankfully there were plenty of things to distract her and talk about like the little Sea gifts that had been rescued during the celebration.

'Males'? His ears twitched at the word, it was said almost like she was frightened of the word. It made him sad for a moment, he didn't want to upset her after all but if his gender pained her, well, he didn't want to do anything to hurt her. He opened his mouth to say something and closed it again in an instant. It wasn't him, she had said so still he felt the need to say something more on the subject before allowing her to change it.

"I thought maybe you were frightened of me because of my size. My family we are descended from pridelanders and Firekin, my great grandfather, he always tells me how large everyone is from there." He smiles a goofy grin. "I'm glad you're not frightened of me." He rumbles.

As she spoke of the cubs from the sea he turned his ice green eyes to the waves. "They will grow up knowing only love and protection here. The Bahari has always been about caring for its young. I suppose that is why so many of us never leave.." he pauses for a moment turning his eyes back up to the soft pink female "I'm glad you decided to stay, I promise I'll protect you." He clears his throat "I mean, we, we will protect you, of course, you don't need to worry about any males here. I'll make sure no one bothers you if that's what you wish." He grins sheepishly, he really wanted to stick with the 'I' but he wasn't sure how she would feel about him offering his protection.

He seemed to think of her as a gentle female and Sagasu wasn't too keen on setting him straight by explaining exactly how vicious the Mermaids had been to males who got in their way especially when they had the Sea at their backs. Even Sagasu had nearly drowned a particularly pushy leopard who had followed her for several days but she didn't feel too too keen on sharing such things. For reasons she was trying not to think about too deeply about, Sagasu was acutely aware that she didn't want to say something that would make Triton feel disappointed in her.

"I've heard of the Firekin." She said quietly instead and decided to focus on the little ones - who she planned on watching over in the future. "Who says I need protection?" She chuckled at the pale male, offering a wide, amused grin.

"I like this place. I liked your celebration and your ruler... I believe the little ones were a sign..." She liked to see the little hints of his interest in her and unlike most Mermaids, Sagasu wasn't much for little games so she dropped to the sand by his side and leaned slightly against him. "But you know that's not why I stayed... right?"

The big male smiled as she lay down beside him, his pale green eyes dropping over her. He felt he had over stepped his bounds. Lowering his ears in to his mane he looked her in the eyes an embarrassed look crossing his gaze. "My great grandfather, he always says females don't need any protecting, that they usually protect us." He tilts his head gently "I didn't mean to underestimate you. I'm sure you can protect yourself." He says sincerely flickering his tail to land over her hind quarters.

"I'm glad you like it here." He sighs turning his gaze to the sea for a moment, he had a hope he was almost afraid to say it. "You're looking for home right? A place to feel loved, to feel safe?" He settles his eyes upon her a questioning tilt to his dark maned head.

Sorry for the delay, I was away for the weekend. <3
Also, I think Triton is going to have some competition! Little Riff is going to be following Sagasu whenever possible asking her to marry him, lol

Sagasu blinked, repeatedly, glancing sideways at the male next to her. Was he an idiot? Obviously, part of what had attracted her to him was the fact that he wasn’t conceited, too full of himself or had that sense of entitlement that so many males seemed to share. He was respectful, non-confrontational and you could tell the type of male he was when you saw him interacting with his family.

“What I am trying to say is that I do like the pride and the respect you show for the Sea. And I can’t deny my interest in the little cubs but someone else caught my interest during the celebration…” She grinned wickedly, tone suddenly teasing. “I mean your sister is a very interesting character.”

He could really take the hint, darn it! What else did she need to do to show her interest? Lick his nose? She was already leaning against him when they were alone! Or – and this was a worrying thought – was he used to females seeking him for little gestures of affection? Sagasu realized she was feeling jealous for the first time in her life – and against imaginary rivals, no less - and finding the didn’t like the feeling, at all.

hehe no worries! That may be quite hilarious ! He may need a kick like that to make him realise the truth XD!

Triton opened his mouth and closed it again . His ears vanished for a moment in his thick curly mane, his soft green eyes closed for a moment and he took a deep breath as a cool breeze rolled off the sea.

"It's getting cold." He mumbles turning his gaze on the soft pink female. He was inexperienced in these things. He ha dog course watched his mother and father his whole life. He knew they loved each other and he had even asked his father about the ways of love. His father had always told him just follow her lead. He had no idea what that meant. He could feel himself becoming frustrated. He had no idea what he was supposed to do.

Moving his massive head the pale male let out a little laugh "Yes my sister is. You should meet more of my family. My parents are equally interesting." He chuckles he hadn't even noticed the tease, he took pride in that the pretty female found his family interesting.

"I'm sorry, I know I'm an idiot. My mother tells me so often, she says I can't take a hint even if it hits me like a tonne of fish." He lets his chin fall to his paws. He tilts his head looking up through his wavey mane. "I don't.. I don't really know how to speak to girls that I'm not related to." He grins a foolish, innocent grin. "I hope you can forgive me."

Lol, Sagasu is not one for misunderstandings.
xD

She was feeeling quite frustrated now, not really doubting his interest but very much annoyed that hers wasn't obvious by now.

"Yes, you're an idiot." She said lightly but with absolute certainty. "A very oblivious idiot. I've been trying to tell you that, as interesting as I found your sister, I stayed because a male caught my interest." She flushed and looked away but knew she had to make things as clear as possible in order to avoid misunderstandings. "I only stayed because I met you."

She really didn't like feeling unsure.

"I want to get to know you better if that's alright..."

Yup that will do it XD!

Unfortunately for Triton, his cheeks were pale and therefore his embarrassment could not be hidden, a deep blush rose accross his cheeks and nose and his eyes looked entirely too stunned for words. "I uh.." he stumbles, suddenly his lips and tongue felt very dry and he couldn't form a complex sentence.

Taking a deep breath the big dark maned male grinned a wide sheepish grin. "I'd like that...I'd like that more than anything." He manages his ice green eyes settled happily on the pink female. He had really been smitten since the second he had met her but he was so unused to females being flirtatious. With a slow dawning herealised how much of a fool he had been making of himself.

"I'm sorry you you had to spell it out for me. I'v liked you since the day I met you, you're just so.." he paused searching for the perfect word his mind picking up and throwing away a plethora before he came up with just the right one "Perfect." He breaths.

Sorry for the wait! Probably her last post.

She could see the realization dawning on him and his reaction made her feel almost smug.

"Well, I like that I had to spell things out."
It meant he wasn't used to being chased around by females. Sagasu coldn't help sending a mildly paranoid look around as she considerd it as if expecting a lioness to be sneaking up at that exact moment. Honestly, this was so unlike her usual behavior!

It was good that her colored cheeks were masked by her natural colors. Sagasu leaned comfortably against the male, sighing deeply. Hopefully, he would still like her when he realized she wasn't perfect.

totally sorry i forgot you'd replied to this! Probably this is wrap post but im up for another rp?

Triton smiles a very goofy grin as she leaned against him and without a moments thought, for once, he placed his maned head over her shoulders. He hoped she wouldn't find it too uncomfortable because it felt like the right thing to do.

He had never really done any second guessing in his life and she, well Saugus was making him second guess everything. He felt like the biggest fool in the world knowing she had needed to spell it out so clearly for him. He had never really spoken to any female out side of his family unit though it was a strange and wonderful sensation.

The big male closed his light green eyes and let out a deep breath feeling a weight lift off of his shoulders. This was something so very right he just hoped she wouldn't get fed up of him being so naive.
