It had been a while since Jhin had agreed to go with his father on a trading run, but the boy was rather enjoying it. "There's a slight chill to the air." He commented with a small grin as he broke away with the caravan who were resting for the night. Despite his comment though Jahuar was for the most part warm - far more so than the chilled air that Sauti received from the tall mountains of Zena to the north. Still there was something about tonight that the wind boy just couldn't quite put his fingers on - perhaps a hint of extra shadows to the darkness of the trees?

Or even the small sound of paws skirting about the giant tree roots and tall grasses? Such a noise caught his attention and determined to find out what was behind the brushing in the grasses, Jhin moved forward...

Sabra Knight

Taka and her older tribesman had been tracking the beast for some time now. Taka had been given the task of capturing a Perzi that popped up around the camp. For some reason the recent outbreak of beasts not natural to the area had the elder concerned, so it fell on the hunter in training to find it. She was too young to go on her own, so the elder sent another of her kin to go with her, merely to watch and give her pointers. I mustn't disappoint them. She thought to herself.

When she entered a clearing, she saw an earthling boy. She blinked, then scowled. Had she been tracking the wrong thing? She looked at his feet. No... Those are certainly not his tracks. She sighed in relief. "You there." She approached the boy. "I advise you leave this place, there is a dangerous beast lurking nearby. I've been tracking it for some time now."

She twitched her antennae, keeping a feel out in case it was nearby.

Jhin blinked as the alkidike suddenly appeared. Had she been the cause of those noises? No, surely not. From what he knew of the warrior women they never scurried through it shuffled about in the underbrush. Though the thought of the one who had just appeared as someone scurrying made him chuckle. It would definitely be interesting to see someone who was currently speaking boldly and towering above him scurrying.

Was her dangerous beast then the scurrierer? Jhin blinked thoughtfully, "A dangerous beast you say?" He crossed his arms as he surveyed the area, "How so? I haven't seen anything yet..." Heard plenty but not seen it at least, "Do you know what sort of beast it is?"

Why, the poor boy didn't know about the creatures of the woods. "Just because you do not see doesn't mean it isn't there." Taka scoffed. "Of course I know what I hunt, but I need not tell you. Just know that you have been warned."

Taka turned away to see her guardian shaking her head. Taka frowned. Did I say something wrong? Was it because I didn't tell him what lurked around the area? She didn't feel that information was important for someone who wasn't in the hunt. Why should she be punished for that?

Taka ran through the brush and continued to follow the tracks. Once her guardian felt they were far enough away, she said, "A little politeness goes a long way, you know. We may not be like the other races, but you never know who might be a great ally, Taka. Remember that."

Taka sighed. "Yes, sister..." Her embarrassment showed in her twitching antennae. Of course she was in the wrong. Oh well, I have better things to focus on. This hunt could show my tribe my skills, and maybe I'll be able to hunt on my own after this... I just need to not botch it up. She smirked a little while continuing to follow the tracks, and sense the movement in the air. It's just a Perzi after all... How hard could it be?

She could feel it getting closer though, and excitement arose in her mind. It won't be long now!

"More likely that I'm questioning the dangerous aspect." Replied Jhin with a faint smile. Who knew what type of creature it could be? He would much rather have it described to him rather than someone simply telling him to steer away. Still, he only nodded politely towards the alkidikes as they ventured away. While others may have felt a bit intimidated the boy only felt a small sense of awe. It always was intriguing to watch how the different species moved - thankfully he had been in Jahuar enough to see them a few times before. Though that girl was a stranger to him...

Shaking his head Jhin prepared to move forward until noises caught his interest again. It seemed whatever 'dangerous' beast it was kept circling around him. Frowning, Jhin resisted the urge to grab his own bow before going forward - I won't shoot until I see that it actually wishes to attack me. Perhaps it was a foolish notion, but still one that the boy preferred to stick towards. Was that a tail he saw in the bushes?

Darting over a root, Jhin began to race forward...

Taka came into a clearing and saw the beast. It was the Perzi described to her before she left the village. It darted into the nearest brush and started running.

Taka quickly reacted and began to chase it. The hunt begins!

Slipping over a large branch, Jhin finally got sight of the 'creature'. It was just a perzi after all! He was used to seeing such creatures on the shoulders of their owners or lazing in the sun. Even a companion of his father had an older female, scraggly thing that she was, who just hissed if anyone came too close. Other than that she never did much harm.

"Just because it looks strange, does that really make it a threat?" He called out as he pushed himself to run towards the Alkidike apprentice, "I actually have a way to catch it that would prove no fighting is involved!" He finally added, "If you would dare to believe an earthling that is?"

How dare this earthling get in the way of her hunt. "Wha- Get out of my way! You'e letting the beast escape!" She tried to brush past him to chase the animal.

His challenging comment made her stop, though. "If I dare...?" She turned around and crossed her arms. She knew he was playing on the pride of her race, and yet she couldn't help but to take the bait "Hmph... Fine then, what is it, oh mighty earthling, that you propose?"

"I have my reasons." Jhin reached a bold hand up to touch her arm, "Just take a moment to hear me out." The last thing he needed was to see a poor perzi getting beaten up by a raging warrior to be.

Nodding at her acceptance to listen, Jhin couldn't help grinning slightly. It seemed he had struck some cord with the woman, "I propose that you allow me to catch this creature my way. If my technique doesn't work then you can do whatever you propose to me. Sound good?"

What he was asking was for him to do her job! The nerve of this earthling. Didn't he know how important this hunt was for her? "You ask me to just let you capture this beast? And what of me? This is my task given to me by my elders!"

She squinted at him. "I'd wager you won't be able to do it anyway."
PostPosted: Mon Jan 09, 2017 10:18 am

"Well then you can say you assisted or that you did the capture." Jhin nodded, "I won't tell if you don't. Plus, wouldn't it be best to bring back a living creature rather than a mauled one?" He shook his head at her antics. Honestly, it was just a scared perzi...he had seen plenty during his travels through Oba with his father. This one surely was no different.

"You wager?" Jhin raised an eyebrow, "Then I suppose that means I can tell you to do something then if I do succeed." It was only fair after all since she could punish him if he failed.

That stated the boy slowly sank to the ground so he could dig through his satchel, "Just stand still and wait." He murmured as he laid out a cloth he had on the ground. Inside was dried meat which he left a pile on the cloth -tied with a string- and the rest he made a trail through the bushes. That done the boy let out a sharp whistle before settling back on his hunches.

It may have seemed a bit crazy, but a few moments later it seemed that the bushes were rustling and that a small figure was emerging. A perzi's figure to be exact...

She gave the proposal some thought. "Very well... We do it your way." This isn't going to work... She snickered in her head. Soon she would have a perzi to bring back to her village and not a care in the world.

She watched him set up the trap. "Fine... If your set up happens to work, which I'm sure it won't, then I will do as you ask." She lie in hiding, waiting for the beast to come out of the bushes. She heard ruslting, and tensed up with anticipation. What...? This can't be!

"I wouldn't be so certain." Replied Jhin quietly as the bushes began to rustle. As the perzi settled in around the food, the boy began to slink forward. He wanted to see if the strange looking familiar would be truly vicious or if it simply was lost. Letting out a soft sound the boy slowly approached with a hand out. In it was even more of the dried meat, which the perzi had devoured.

"Here, little one." Jhin was almost angelic as he held out the food. While it had hissed and backed up a few steps at first the creature noticed the food. Sniffing it took a step forward, stared at Jhin and then as he didn't move finally continued on to his hand.

Shortly enough the boy had his arms around the wild creature who attempted to fight before settling down due to exhaustion from being chased all evening in the jungle, "Soooo...about your dangerous beast..." Jhin glanced over towards the Alkidike as he settled the perzi down into the cloth bag he had shaped, "How hard is it to capture again?"

Taka stared, mouth wide open. As he put the cat in the bag, she closed her mouth. "This is... un-buh-lievable..." She blinked twice and frowned. A slew of emotions, mostly anger, swirled inside her as her cheeks flushed. "Well, whatever, the beast is captured... What would you have me do...?" She sighed.

I can't believe this... Outsmarted by a mere earthling! Shows me for underestimating them.
