Welcome to the Tropical Safari Zone! At the Safari Zone we have begun to hold capture contests! As the name implies it is a contest to see who can catch the biggest, rarest Pokemon out there! The contest is simple, in the Safari Zone you will find many different kinds of Pokemon, from all over the world in fact! We give participants three Safari Balls to use and attempt to capture the best Pokemon they can, or you can use any three Pokeballs of their own, if you do, we do not give you any Safari Balls. [You may use one of yours and two of ours and so forth. You are only allowed to use three Pokeballs total.] You are allowed to take just one of your own Pokemon into the park to use to weaken a wild Pokemon for capture, so don't let it get knocked out! Pokemon are judged on their quality, rarity, and how well the capture was roleplayed. So are you interested? Then sign up, take your Safari Balls, and hit the grass and find the best Pokemon you can!

Also, the Pokemon available is always different. The zone we'll be hunting in this time is the Isolated Island Zone! An isolated tropical island located between Kanto and Alola populated by a mix of Pokemon from both regions due to shipwrecks and it once being used as a rest port.

How to Participate:

The rules for the Safari Contest are simple. Pick one Pokemon to use in the contest, and when you post your character looking for a Pokemon use the random number generator to find out what Pokemon your character finds. Set the lowest number to 1 and the highest to 100 for the main area and 1 to 50 for the side areas. Once your post goes through, check to see what number you got, then, look at the list of available Pokemon, at the bottom of this post, to see what Pokemon appeared.

Then, in your next post once the Pokemon has been decided, begin battling it all in one post. But before you post your battle, use the Random Number generator again to see if the capture was successful, setting the lowest to 1 and the highest to 10, however, different Pokeballs have different success rates depending on what Pokemon or area you are using them on/in. Consult the list below to see what Pokeballs benefit this area.

----------

[Safari Ball] 50% Success Rate on any Pokemon.

[Pokeball] 50% Success Rate on any Pokemon.

[Great Ball] 60% Success Rate on any Pokemon.

[Ultra Ball] 70% Success Rate on any Pokemon.

[Net Ball] 70% Success Rate on Bug and Water type Pokemon, 50% on all others.

[Dusk Ball] 70% Success Rate on Pokemon found in caves, 50% on anything else.

[Quick Ball] 80% Success Rate on your first Pokemon encountered only, 50% on all consecutive.

[Timer Ball] 80% Success Rate if it's your last Pokeball only, 50% on any prior.

[Repeat Ball] 80% Success Rate on a Pokemon if you encountered the Pokemon in your previous post, 50% if not.

[Heal Ball] 80% Success Rate on a Pokemon if you failed to capture it once already, 50% if not.

[Fast Ball] 80% Success Rate on a fast Pokemon.

[Heavy Ball] 80% Success Rate on a heavy Pokemon.

[Level Ball] 80% Success Rate on a first stage Pokemon (Grubbin, Yungoos, etc.), 50% on all others.

[Love Ball] 80% Success Rate on a Pokemon with only a single gender, 50% on all others.

[Lure Ball] 80% Success Rate on a Pokemon fished out of the water.

[Friend Ball] 80% Success Rate on a Pokemon that evolves with happiness.

For success rates of 50%, you must receive one of the following numbers from the Random Number generator to capture the Pokemon: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

For success rates of 60%, you must receive one of the following numbers from the Random Number generator to capture the Pokemon: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6

For success rates of 70%, you must receive one of the following numbers from the Random Number generator to capture the Pokemon: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7

For success rates of 80%, you must receive one of the following numbers from the Random Number generator to capture the Pokemon: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8

For success rates of 90%, you must receive one of the following numbers from the Random Number generator to capture the Pokemon: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9

----------

As long as you still have Pokeballs you may continue to hunt and capture Pokemon until you get one you are comfortable with. If you catch a Pokemon, but then choose to catch another, you must release the first Pokemon you caught before keeping the second. Once you run out of Pokeballs your time is up and the Pokemon you last caught will be the one judged.

When everyone is done (a specified time will be given when the contest will end, regardless if others are done) all Pokemon caught will be judged. Each Pokemon will be judged individually in separate posts where a random number will be used to judge their quality, between 1 and 5 and the number it lands on will be its quality. The other stat taken into consideration is the Pokemon's rarity, its species. A rather common Pokemon like Grubbin won't give as much points as a Pokemon like Froakie would give much more. However, with quality, a Grubbin could beat out a Froakie.

Contestant Prizes:

Prizes will be given out to the top three contestants. The top three are allowed to either keep the Pokemon they caught, or take a prize of Snag Coins. The first place contestant may keep both the Pokemon and take the Snag Coins, if he/she so chooses to do so. Note, that the Pokemon still counts towards your rank limit.

1st place prize: 16 Pieces of Candy or 20 Snag Coins AND one Snag Emblem (Regardless of Candy or Coins)

2nd place prize: 12 Pieces of Candy or 15 Snag Coins

3rd place prize: 8 Pieces of Candy or 10 Snag Coins

All participants who did not place receive 3 Pieces of Candy or 5 Snag Coins as a consolation prize as well as their captured Pokemon.

Also, if you use a Pokemon that's not fully evolved that Pokemon will earn Evolution Points at the end of the contest depending on how many Pokemon it knocked out. Posts that are incredibly short (Pikachu used Thundershock and knocked out the Poliwag.) won't be counted. But that doesn't mean they all have to be novels, just put in some effort. You can also gain Purification Points in the same way. Don't worry, the Safari Zone is protected by an Immunizer so no virus spreading here!

And that's it! Get out there and have fun!

Ryan arrives with both Rico, his Lotad, and carefully calls out Ursula, his Remoraid. Ryan clutches Ursula close as she struggles against him. He really couldn't purify her fast enough.

They start wandering through the maze to hunt down his choice target this time.

Amaranth wasn't sure of just what possessed her to try coming to a place like this, let alone in the Abandoned Pasture, with an extremely agitated Shadow Pidgey flying beside her. It was taking a lot to avoid it trying to peck her eyes out, still not used enough to her or to the idea that some things weren't a threat to take out immediately. Needless to say, navigating the pasture was easier said, even without the threat of infecting everything here.

It appeared the Pumpkin Patch was not exactly to her standards for Pokemon, as she soon found with a Sewaddle that was desperately trying to chew on a leaf stuck to her shoe. Shaking her leg until the little bug was sent flying, Aria would trudge forward more. She needed to find herself that Heracross.

It appeared the vigorous shaking had not been enough to dissuade the Sewaddle from attempting to make friends with Aria, the Pokemon now slowly creeping along behind the woman as she ventured into the patch. The Bug type would do its best to get noticed by her or die trying.

And there it was. The lively cactus known as Maractus. It was definitely interesting looking. And the idea that Sub had given him was rather clever.

Ryan looks down to Rico. " Astonish." the channeler says. Rico nods, then proceeds to dance his way over to the Maractus before striking it. There would be no flinch as the move came with zero element of surprise. Ryan just shakes his head.

The Maractus was not amused by this and fired back with Pin Missile, hitting Rico 3 times. This just upset his dancing fool.

Ryan shakes his head. "Use Rain Dance to sustain." he would say with a bit of frustration. And that would also get worse as Ursula would bite him. It caught him off guard and caused him to drop his Remoraid.

Ursula would use this opening and throw herself at the Maractus with Shadow Blitz, doing quite a bit of damage to the cactus.

This only angered the Maractus even more and smacked Ursula with a Needle Arm. It would send Ursula skidding to Ryan's feet. Before she could flip herself back into the fight, Ryan recalled her. This was going to be tourture for pokemon and trainer until Ursula could be rid of that shadow virus.

Ryan turns back to Rico. "Get dancing!" he barks at his Lotad. Rico snaps back and does his Rain Dance, which he makes into a very smooth salsa.

The Maractus goes to hit Rico, but this time is drawn in by his dance and mimics his moves. Oh my.

Ryan smirks. "Rico, Astonish once more!" the channeler orders. Rico flourishes once more, and this time, causes the Maractus to stumble back in shock from the attack.

Ryan pulls out a Safari Ball and tosses it at the Cactus to try and secure it before it pulled it's self back together.

Ryan sighs in relief as he picks up the ball. He taps Rico on his dish. "More fighting, less flirting, loverboy." Ryan says to his Lotad before recalling him. He then makes his way to the judging table.

It would turn out that Amaranth didn't get too many choices in what she'd be doing here. A Doduo would soon be noticed, minding its own business. It would've stayed that way too, had there not been any sudden rustling of the grass to catch its attention. Or the war cry of a Pidgey that decided to take care of the "issue" the only way it knew how. With a Shadow Rush, slamming right into Doduo and taking to the air soon after to go for another attack.
[Shadow Meter, Pidgey: 3/10]

To say an exasperated sigh came from the new mess at hand would be to give a reminder that the sky was blue. "Why does every one of these trips go like this...?" Amaranth asked herself, not bothering to answer her own question. There'd be plenty of time for that later, such as when a Doduo wasn't making angry noises and assaulting both of them with an Uproar. She tried to call out to Pidgey to get it to calm down for a second, but it wasn't having it. Luckily, it didn't swoop down for an attack just yet, giving Amaranth time to try a different tactic. She'd quickly take a Joy Scent out and spray it around, letting it scatter to the winds.

With its scattering, though, Pidgey would actually relax... if only slightly. It was enough to encourage it to come back to Amaranth's side, only for the both of them to endure more of the Doduo's cacophony. The two would look at each other, and for once, appear to be in agreement. "New plan. You make it quiet down, and you stop going for blood for a bit. You okay with that?" Chances were that the whole thing went in one ear and out the other, but maybe there was some sort of understanding in there? At least it was something, compared to her previous experiences with Shadow Pokemon.

Then again, she could also be a bit too hopeful for her own good, her Pidgey flying off to spin and smack both of Doduo's heads with a Wing Attack. The attack was hard enough to make both heads smack each other right afterward, but not enough to cause any lasting damage. Not physically, anyway, but the Uproar did stop for a second so Doduo could position itself and both of its heads to give Pidgey a third Uproar that threatened to blast out its ears right then and there.

"Pidgey, it's okay, just move out of there and-" Amaranth would be cut off as Pidgey slammed into Doduo yet again, this time with another Shadow Rush. Neither of the two looked too great afterward, leading to yet another sigh. "...close enough." Thinking that Doduo might be pretty useful, however, she tossed a Safari Ball and opted to try her luck at catching it.

The ball, however, would unfortunately break and fail. Doduo was released without any struggle to speak of, and it tried to do the one other thing that came to mind that might deal with Amaranth and a crazy Pidgey. It broke into a full sprint and ran away, chirping loudly all the while.

"Huh.... wait, get back here!" Amaranth yelled as she and Pidgey hurried after it, tossing another ball in the process before it could get too far away.

As if the battle was now becoming the sort of joke told at parties, the second ball broke as well. Doduo gave a slight struggle in the process, trying to bolt again. Pidgey was quickly going ahead of her to try and hit it with Quick Attack, slamming into Doduo with relative ease and knocking it down. It gave Amaranth enough time to try her final Safari Ball, a final attempt at trying to catch the runaway bird.

Amaranth would rush over to the ball right as she tossed it, seeing it wobble and roll around with as much fury and fear that Doduo could muster. Even in the ball, it was trying to run away as fast as its legs would allow. Pidgey would peck at it each time it got close, standing near it and determined to keep it from getting away again. It wasn't until she finally approached the ball before the struggles stopped, clicking and allowing her to pick it up. "Felt like I just got here and already we've got something like this... let's just wait, Pidgey. That took everything, so I don't think we're doing much more here."

Pidgey seemed a bit perturbed at the idea, but it was at least being tolerable and following. Amaranth could only hope it didn't take off after another Pokemon, already winded from having to chase it and Doduo down.
