User ImageMai was actually starting to feel good about herself. She remembered when she had first come to the academy. She had been afraid to make a bother of herself. She had relied heavily on Vanna and if he hadn’t been there to hide behind she was content to fade into the background and be a spectacular wallflower. Well maybe content wasn’t the right word to use. The point however was she was a shadow of who she currently was.

Vanna had been a good chunk older by at least seven years, so it made sense that she wouldn’t be able to hide behind him forever, and when he graduated she wanted to prove to him that he didn’t need to worry about her. She started trying to be more open to people. Smiled and helped people even if half the time she wanted to run away. It had been a long and slow process, and then when she had gotten that letter from Ren she realized she didn’t just want to be a person Vanna didn’t have to worry about, she wanted to be a better person for herself. She started actively trying to make friends.

She asserted her opinion more and started standing up for herself more. In fact she no longer had to stand behind Vanna when meeting people, she wasn’t afraid of them seeing her any longer.

Sure she still had issues, and she still was overcome by bouts of shyness but she was slowly changing, and she liked that change. She was proud of herself, and she’d keep on trying to be a better person and one day, one day maybe that wallflower girl would be something.
