Romano's wasn't so bad, if you had to attend a school. Some parts of it sucked, others didn't. All the staff being officers, and thus not needing to explain some of the side effects of being one, such as loose attendance times and possibility of homework not done, was definitely a bonus.

Sharing a dorm with five other students was a big con. No privacy back in his room, which was stifling and why he was hiding out behind the school rather than doing something responsible. Like homework.

The end of the cigarette between his fingers glowed as he took a pull at it, exhaling a steady stream of soothing smoke. He was smoking a lot more lately than he had been, he noted, shaking the pack in his free hand to feel the cigarettes left inside the little box. It was becoming a habit. Any time he was stressed, or lonely, or angry, which was often, he had to go smoke.

This is probably how people ended up with life-long habits. He mused, running his tongue across his lips. At least it was an excuse to be somewhere quiet. If he was out here smoking, he wasn't in there listening to the inane chatter and wishing he was in his room at home. It felt like his life had been turned completely on his head and it just made him want another cigarette.

When the new General King had brought forth this plan - this idea...he had wondered about it. He had wondered if it would work and how he could help, being that he was still a college student himself. The answer had been easy, easier than he'd thought. He took the time off in order to teach, using it as experience that would help with his major. It had also had the added side effect and telling him that teaching...was not what he wanted to do. He would stick it out for the year though - he had to. But after the year he would return to college and find a new major, hopefully by then he'd have a good idea of something new - grading art assignments was driving him nuts.

He didn't have a lot of students, something he was somewhat thankful for, but he disliked grading art. Art was...it was art! How do you grade something like that? Not only that but some of the students! All they wanted to do was socialize or goof off, it made him want to grind his teeth...or pull a starseed. Figuring he didn't want to mess up his teeth...and that pull a students starseed would be frowned upon he did neither. It just meant he went out at night more often, when he wasn't busy with his civilian life, and found senshi to attack or people to drain.

Tonight, when he got home, he'd have more art to grade but that wasn't till he got home. He had to drop some things off at the office which meant he had to drive, yes drive, from where he taught to the school. That was one thing he was not fond of, not in the slightest bit, to teach art he had to do it off campus in a place he had to find and had to pay for. It was all on him...and now he had to drop things at the school so he had to go driving there to do so rather than walking from his classroom to the main office like teachers did at most normal schools!

Oh yes, tonight he was going to the red light district and ripping some starseeds. He was in one of those moods already, he could feel it bubbling just under the surface, and perhaps it showed in how he walked into the school because he did vaguely note someone, a secretary, jumping out of his way as he came into the school. Still in the some semblance of proper attire for teaching, he made sure he wore the school colors at least, his bangs were on the disheveled side from all the times he'd run his fingers through them on the way here.

Once he'd managed to drop off the paperwork, without biting someones head off, he headed outside and deciding it best to take a short walk about the campus before returning home to his boyfriend and elder cousin. The walk, and his nose, was what lead him to finding a certain student smoking and he felt a smile tug at his lips. "Matthew..." He called out, his voice low and perhaps not at all a good thing, as he made his way toward the other.

"Enjoying the cool air?" He questioned with atilt of his head.

He didn't hear the sound of feet until they were almost on top of him, leaving Matthew to scramble as he threw his cigarette on the ground. He stepped on it, effectively putting it out and hiding the evidence, but there was still the smell of smoke on the air that he couldn't do anything about. Hands shoved into his pockets, he prayed whoever it was either wouldn't note the smell, or wouldn't care if they did, because he was definitely not old enough to be buying cigarettes.

The blonde head that came around the corner was familiar, but not terribly comforting. He recognized his short General immediately and grumbled inwardly as he shoved his hands deeper, falling back to slump against the cool brick wall.

"Mr. Evans." Matthew greeted the general-turned-teacher, his eyes on his polished uniform boots (another reason to dislike this place, with its strict dress code). The fringe he'd cut his hair into fell into his leaf green eyes and he let it stay, taking comfort in the bit of a curtain it gave him between him and Alexander.

Had he done something to draw the general's attention? Something wrong with his quota? He'd worked hard to make sure he flew under the radar and didn't draw attention to himself, but maybe the lack of drive was going to come back to bite him in the a** now.

He'd seen what happened to people who got into that front lines fighting, who took their 'job' too seriously... and he wasn't inclined to become one of them.

"I'm rather surprised you transferred here...but how are you finding it so far?" It was easier for a Negaverse officer to transfer here, more likely to be accepted, but it meant things were monitored more and there was a higher expectation. Teachers were more than just that, some were superior officers while others you might be higher than. It surely made for an interesting hierarchy in the school, something most wouldn't see or know of. He imagined his cousin, who taught here, would feel it at some point. Being only a lieutenant his cousin might wind up teaching a Captain or a General, someone who could pull rank, and yet have to get them to submit as a student. It wasn't something he worried about, he didn't face the issue, but he was sure it would come up somehow for someone.

Tilting his head a bit he took a moment to finger comb the fall of ashen bangs on his left side, tucking them behind his ear, as he glanced the other over.

"If you're going to smoke on campus, which mind you isn't allowed, find a better place to hide it. I'm sure you are capable of that...given other activities." He said alluding to their night job. "Although....you have been fulfilling your quota you do seem to not be active outside of that..." He added while giving the most calm and disarming look he could. He didn't say more, he'd let the other talk and say whatever came to him. There was no need for him to say more at the moment.

"It was here or Hillsworth." Matthew said as he glanced away, shoving his hands deep into the pockets of his uniform pants. "And here is going to have less questions about me coming and going."

It hadn't been a choice that he'd been happy about, but after being expelled from Meadowview, it had been the better of the two options.

He stiffened as Alex brought up his smoking and he frowned, his face set into stubborn, petulant lines. And of course, the conversation took a swing exactly the way he didn't want it to go and the teen was forced to finally bring his fierce eyes back to his general.

"Is there some sort of requirement for more than Quota? ...General." He barely kept his tone from being disrespectful, but only just. "I'm careful to make sure I do what's required of me and I fight when I need to. Its not like anyone asked me if I even wanted this... or like I had any sort of martial arts training at all before being yanked into the deep end."

There had been no 'hey, wanna join the negaverse?' when that a*****e Bischofite had shoved a hand into his chest. No explanation. No offer. No promise of glory and whatever else it was that made some of them fight as fiercely as they did. It was tempting to ask why he should give more of a ******** than that, but he kept it behind his teeth. Alex was a teacher and a general, after all. And Matthew wasn't one to seek out confrontation with the higher ups.

"Of course, why Hillsworth though?" That that he had an issue with that, he was curious though. Why had the other needed to change schools and why the two choices? Hillsworth had a reputation of sorts...on where and why the students were there, all trouble makers of one sort or another.

Ignoring the tone, which he could have taken exception to, he let it roll right off his back as a duck did with water. Some others might not, others might have called the younger out on it, but it wasn't a concern for the blond. "No, I just would like to see more from my officers...I want to know you can hold your own in a fight, you have been lucky to not found yourself against one of the other sides stronger members while out filling quota." He worried for his own, and he wanted them doing more....helping more.

"I'm aware of that and I apologize for that. There is however nothing which can be done, unless you wish to give up your life, memories, and family and change sides." Though from the sound of it he didn't think that was a good idea, he didn't make his voice sound like a warning against it. He wasn't harsh or anything like that. No, he just made it sound like something you didn't want to do - to give up and lose everything.

"Perhaps, you would like to come a few nights with myself for training and patrols? Or something else?" Something else to get him active, to help him. He wouldn't force things onto him but he did want to get him doing more - progressing.

It was really hard not to grimace when Alex asked about Hllsworth. Matthew reached up to rub the back of his neck, his fingers tangling up and through his hair.

"Because none of the other schools will take me. I got expelled. For fighting." He admitted, and hated that he had to admit. Even if he wasn't ashamed of the fights he had gotten into... there was something about saying the words out loud to his superior that just bugged him and made him young and stupid.

"I know how to throw a punch and I know when to get my a** out of trouble. I don't stick around if the other bigger is bigger and meaner than I am." Mathew angled a look at Alex with a frown, taking in and then promptly dismissing comments about giving up life and memories. He wasn't entirely sure what Alex was talking about there, but ******** if he planned on any of that.

The suggestion that he give up a few nights for training very nearly made him groan out loud, but he was pretty sure even this general would take exception to that.

"I have homework, and I still have to fill quota..." He hedged, eyeing Alex from behind his fringe of hair. It wasn't quite a No, but he really hoped the general would give up on that idea. More training and involvement with the Negaverse was exactly the opposite of what he wanted, but after all he'd seen, he really wasn't dumb enough to put up too much of a fuss... where someone could see him.

Listening to the other he hummed once, a rather low sound, and nodded his head once slowly. Slate eyes focused on the other, looking the other over. Well, at least he admitted to why he got expelled and he was here now instead - which was good. "You're here now, at least people who are similar are here." Other officers of the Negaverse, like himself. It was a...safer environment, at least for the officers, it made walking out to patrol easier for them.

Shifting his stance, relaxing perhaps too much, as tilted his head up to look at the other and smiled gently. He was, if nothing else, good to his own and looked out for them. He wouldn't let the war, and their duties, ruin their civilian lives. He'd make this as painless as he could for the other.

"I know, trust me I'm well aware. How about a deal of sorts? I'll assist with your homework, in whatever manner I can, and I will help you fill your quota, I'll go with you to grab energy and we can get it done faster that way?" It might keep him out longer, since he'd have his own to fill as well, but if it helped the other he would do it. He just hoped he could explain it to Aiden somehow, the big problem of having a clueless partner - damn it.

"I'll try and make things easy for you, as easy as I can, as I know you have a civilian life to maintain and I don't want to harm that too much. But training is a needed - especially after the events of last winter." With the invasion. They'd lost too many people and needed to rebuild, to grow stronger.

Staring up at the other, waiting silently, he wasn't going to push him to answer right away or in some way threaten the other. He was trying to show as much calm as he could so he didn't, in some way, upset the other or make him feel rushed or harassed.

Matthew sighed and his shoulders drooped, but he nodded as he straightened up. There wasn't going to be a way to avoid this... so he'd just have to suck it up.

"All right... fine." He said as he shoved his hands into his pockets, giving the shorter General a look over. Persistant man... but he was probably better than some of the other generals, and definitely better than being saddled with Bischofite. Who knows where he would have ended up there if he hadn't been dumped by the half-youma on Alex's literal doorstep. "Let me know when and where and I'll come."

At least it should help him be a better fighter, which wasn't a bad thing. He did enough of it, and edge could be helpful. And less likely to find himself getting his a** handed to him.

"Is it okay if I go... sir?" He nearly forgot, but managed to tag the honorific onto the end. He nearly even said 'General' but out in public probably wasn't the best place for that.

"I'll let you know. I'll go over your schedule and find out what your homework load looks like." Like he said, he didn't want to drown the other in work and duties. He wouldn't do that to any of his officers, he knew they had lives - just like he did. "Once I know how that looks I'll figure out times to go out for energy grabs. As for homework, let me know. Just send me a text." Already he was pulling out his phone and offering it to the other after unlocking the screen and pulling up his number.

"I'll do my best to assist you if it's needed." He was serious when he said he'd help in anyway he could - dead serious. He was willing to let his officers text and call him whenever they needed, and he'd do his best to jump and answer them. He just hoped he could juggle everything. Alexandre figured he'd been an officer long enough, and bounced jobs, that he had experience in balancing everything in his life. He should be able to maintain his life and fit in everything he needed to, even if it might be a bit hard and take time to adjust to.

Smiling at the other he nodded his head. "Of course." At least the other had his information and could contact him now. "And when in private...you don't need to use sir. Alexandre or Alex is fine, even Mr. Evans." Sir was just too formal for him. He understood it's need around others but that was it; he didn't want it used in private.

"Be safe and we'll speak again soon." He'd let the other go, figuring he had things to do. He had a home to get back to and things to do as well.

Matthew heaved an inward sigh of relief when Alex took charge of finding them a time to do everything he had been proposing they do. One less thing the teen had to pretend like he was pleased to be doing. It might end up being more of a pain later, letting his general decide, but later was for worrying about... later.

"If I need something, I'll let you know." Matthew said. He offered something of an abbreviated salute, because first-name-basis or not, he didn't much feel like taking a chummy tone with this man.

With his dismissal accepted, the young man sidled around the shorter one and beat a hasty retreat, while trying not to look like he was running away from anyone. He was going to have to be more careful about where he took his smoke breaks from now on.
