Itotia was wandering through the edge of Oba, taking a moment to examine the area as she thought over an important decision. Soon enough, she'd need to let Aseara know if she would stay, or return home. Already, she could tell from her bright close and dimming eyes that she had been here too long, and she feared upon her return others would see her eyes as a curse and not a symbol of strength.
The mainland was a world of interest, and not as scary as her childhood stories foretold. She could see herself settling, maybe even finding a way to ensure that others who decided to dwell here would find safety in a new location. The thought wasn't terrible, to consider maybe a home for Yaeli who wanted to journey across the sea; especially with the recent rumors of the bug-girls breeding and spreading across the land.
And surely, the gods must be able to see beyond the limits of their island.
As she thought about this, she rounded the corner to a long pathway between the walls and the homes, glancing about to see if any might cross her path.

There were few times that Tes could recall ever feeling happier than he did recently. He was pleased with his successful detachment from dependency on his former masters, pleased to feel like his own person doing what he wanted to do in the world, pleased to have a woman willing to put up with him- Well, less so that. Sometimes Dris'rynne's moods were quite lost on him. But it was satisfying to be needed and useful, all the same. And especially rewarding to not have to struggle with any new skills like actually working.
He hardly knew how to do anything except take care of people, and that was hardly a job. It was even more enjoyable with Dris'rynne... usually. Unfortunately, Tes was also accustomed to a little more than one person companionship and a one-room rent-a-space.
So he found himself wandering the outskirts of their current establishment, talking to the neighbors that Dris so disliked and finding ways of entertaining himself. If they thought he was needy, no one said as much to his face.
This day in particular found him swinging around the back of the five-story building, chasing away the loud and rambunctious pets of his neighbors. Really, it seemed rude to keep anything larger than a fishbowl in an establishment that already housed so many. Teslaron growled softly as he hauled himself up and over the fence, only to plop in an undignified heap in front of one of the most peculiar individuals he'd ever seen before.
That wasn't to say he'd never heard of the Yaeli islanders, but their appearance in his life was so few and far-between that he'd never once been so close. Long, purple hair, dark skin, and those eyes. He blinked. Then immediately righted himself, suavely moving to rest his weight against the fence he'd just scaled and fixing the woman with his most coy grin. "Hey sexy, what brings you around?"

If Itotia was startled, she didn't quite show it. Her ears twitched with the sound just a moment before the body fell before her, and instead of opening her mouth in surprise she simply pursed it in displeasure. Her eyes narrowed, still sharp despite not having the same glow she was born with. Really, she knew how dangerous a situation could be, and she was well through being a victim after seeing how weak some mainlanders really were.
But it seemed this wasn't one who would prove her wrong, at least not in terms of being a threat. As he moved to stand and smiled, she simply let out a breath of air through her nose, and began to move past him without a second glance. After dealing with the men of the establishment (and some women too) she knew when one was trying to 'play a game'. This was familiar ground, but instead of returning the attention as was her job, she could easily just ignore him and moved further down the street.
With any luck, he'd get the hint and let her pass.

Wow. What an unnecessarily rude, peculiar foreigner. He let her pass with that fixed smile never leaving his face. It wasn't as if Tes minded being blatantly ignored, except that- Oh, wait. It was that. He hadn't done anything so unsavory as to merit such a response, and really, as an outsider, she should appreciate that he'd taken notice of her at all. It wasn't his intention to stalk after her. Teslaron had his own matters to attend to, and all.
But he did, anyway.
"You in some kind of a rush, or something?" He asked as he slipped up to the woman's side and kept pace with her. Curiously, he peered around her to get a better look at the Yaeli's face. What a strange woman. Those creepy, dark-scleraed eyes looked as near to demonic as could possibly be reasonable. And as far as he could tell, all Yaeli just looked like they'd been kept in a dark box all their lives, with little access to the sun. Real weird. Otherwise, though, she really wasn't all that unattractive. Probably even by her people's standards.
"So you're a long way from home, huh? And mad about it, if your expression is anything to go off..." He stepped in front of her and very loosely brought his arms out to either of her sides, not touching, but fairly close. And such that she would have to back up to not touch him. "Look here, I can understand that, you know, no reason to be rude, though. You shouldn't ignore friendly passerby."

As she got past the man, she had a long moment of thinking she had gotten past such an interaction. But then, his voice spoke up and he was following her. A huff left her lips and her eyes rolled upward, unimpressed as she wished that maybe this interaction could have been avoided. Instead, she crossed eyes with him and scowled. She wasn't in the mood for conversation, but apparently he was keen to make it happen.
So, she halted herself as he moved before her, preferring to interact with him here than let him follow her back to the Red where he could interact with her any time he wanted.
"I am not mad," She said coldly, "about being from my home, but more about being around mainlanders like you."
As his arms came up, she smoothly took a step back and moved a hand to brush her hair away. Her chin was up, and her lips pursed before she relaxed her features.
"The only friendly people are those you know. A friendly stranger is one that has an ulterior motive. Tell me, why would you want to speak with me?"

"But you are mad," Tes retorted coyly, as he tried to keep any too-obvious offense from his features. Mainlanders 'like him.' Obviously this woman wasn't familiar with his peoples' history if she thought he was anything like the worst of the population. Still, it didn't seem his place to instruct her, and there probably wasn't reason to add even more of a sour note to the conversation.
Instead, he folded his arms behind himself and leaned forward into the space she'd just vacated. "But I assure you, there is no one quite like me. Intelligent, charming, charismatic, humble." He beamed. "And just a little bit devious, hm? Enough to keep things entertaining."
"And curious, obviously," Teslaron added as he cast the woman a sideways glance. Obviously, indeed. If she was accustomed enough with mainlanders to hate them on sight, she couldn't possibly not have imagined that he might be interested in her kind, at least enough so to want to speak with her. "I've never met a Yaeli girl before," he admitted. "Or boy, but that's neither here nor there. I thought you might be a little friendlier, maybe even grateful to be staying in our beautiful country. But you're kind of mean for no reason. And if you're going to be sour about seeing people that lived here before you, you really might as well just leave, you know?"

Her silver eyes showed how unimpressed she was with his behavior, and she debated if it was worth touching him to shove him out of the way. Had she been any younger, any more foolish, she might think touching his sky-colored skin would be welcoming a curse on her being. But now, she knew that most mainlanders were pathetic and weak, and easily brushed aside like a strand of hair.
"There are plenty like you," She responded with a short, mocking laugh, "little boys who think they are the gods gift to this earth. Full of pride, lacking in logic, and utterly foolish."
Her voice was low and mocking, and her face showed a bit of pity, "I'm surprised you have room to think of others, with how full your head is of your own thoughts. Tell me, when you cross paths with mirrors do you grow distracted like a little girl playing with her mother's makeup? Or do you practice your coy statements with hopes you can swoon a stranger you cross paths with in the street?"
She shook her head and moved to pass him, her eyes turning to look up into his own, "I have no apologies, as I'm not the one stalking a stranger in hopes to turn her into a new toy...but do forgive me, for I assumed even a mainlander would be smart enough to see when someone doesn't want them around."
As she moved past him, she suddenly stilled, silver eyes narrowing as something scuttled in her way, followed by another of the same size.
She didn't say it, but she hoped these creatures would be less of an annoyance than the overzealous stranger to her side.

There was no telling what put her in such a sour mood. Because it certainly wasn't him, as he'd done literally nothing to her. But perhaps all Yaeli behaved as such, as in they thought they were being wronged when anyone so much as spoke to them. Those were surely one of the least appealing people in existence and not worth his time or curiosity.
And yes, the Shifter woman that was the current focus of his long-term affections hadn't exactly been warm and welcoming when they'd first met (or anytime after), but even if Dris'rynne was dismissive and a bit cold, she wasn't mean for the sake of being mean. It was different, was the point he was trying to make.
Though maybe just all women were rude.
Tes flicked a swamp-colored bang from his face and stepped to the side to get out of her way as she moved past him, still smiling, of course. Though his eyes were very marginally narrowed, golden irises darkened with newfound distaste. "Not once have I claimed to know you, as you seem so keen on doing to me. You've no idea what I'm like and have little reason to suspect the worst of me, when I've done nothing but try to talk to you. You don't know my intentions. Don't act as though you do."
"And as I live in this neighborhood, I'd hardly say I was stalking you, so don't flatter yourself." As much as he loved to push and taunt and tease and make light of a situation, neither did he care for hateful people.
He didn't notice the giant insects scuttling just behind his back. Though if he did, it likely wouldn't have been pleasant.

She merely waved her hand back at him, in dismissal, half listening to him prattle on like a little child trying to prove their worth. Instead, she continued to look at the bugs, wondering if this was some sort of street creature most Obans interacted with. However, when she shriek was heard and another bug flew from the wall after someone, Itotia knew this was not a common occurrence. These creatures didn't belong, but they didn't seem that bad. She'd encountered worse, after all.
Letting out a bit of a sigh, she glanced over at the man beside her, all put off by her less than seller interaction, and smirked.
"Then don't act as if I welcome such actions from you. The way I see it, you are the one pushing into my personal space. Maybe it is you that needs to learn some common courtesy, hmm?"
And she moved forward, slowly walking toward the chattering bugs with a fascination, "Maybe these creatures will have better common sense?"
And she slowly pulled out her blade, ready to strike if they decided to spit poison, or reveal fangs. If anything, life on Yael taught her to always be prepared, and even the smallest creature could cause the most devastating damage.

Yyyep, that was pretty much that. With the state of his home life currently as it was, Tes couldn't really afford to be in a foul mood because some strange woman from an unimportant foreign country thought she had the right to be rude and presumptuous of mainlanders who actually lived and enjoyed it here. Really, he'd only complemented her, which seemed like it would've been more well-received than, 'holy gods, what the frick are you supposed to be?' Alas, his charm was wasted on her. He rolled his shoulders, stuffed his hands in his pockets, and moved to stride back in the direction he'd come from.
He really did have his own business to attend to, anyway, and-
Someone shrieked from hardly a handful of paces off, and Tes tossed a glance over his shoulder in time to catch a large wings insect leap after a young woman before the pair of them disappeared from view. He stilled, staring at the spot where the two had vanished, before frantically casting his golden gaze everywhere.
What was that thing? Where did it come from. Why was it here. Were they in the houses? What if it was in his house. He decided it didn't matter that the woman before him wasn't phased. Gross, Yaeli jungle-dwellers probably had enough experience with such things.
Tes did not. Nor did he want any, and it didn't really suit him to pretend to be amused by any of the proceedings. "I'm leaving. Which is what you want. Don't try and continue on talking to me when my back is turned."
