Liira stretched from her spot in their shared bed. The light was just starting to shine through the open window and the hot Tale day was already starting. It had Liira plopping back onto the bed with a sigh.
It wasn't as if she didn't like Tale, she did... it was just so hot. It was miserable.

Tau felt the bed shift and shimmy under him and he rolled over across to Liira's side of the bed. With his eyes still closed he grinned and stretched and arm out, completely crossing over Liira and pulling her in tighter.
"What's the sigh for?" he questioned with a teasing tone in his voice. Liira was always cranky about something, but it was something Tau came to accept, and even enjoy. It meant he could tease without fear of pissing her off since she was continually pissed off.

Liira felt her husband's arm wrap tightly around her and she was engulfed in his heat. Ugh, he was just so hot, it was like baking over a fire. "Ughhhh. Get offa me. You know I hate that." She groaned and complained, pushing herself further away from Tau.
"It's too hot already. Why don't you people ever have winter?" Liira complained.

Tau tugged Liira closer as she squirmed, laughing at her obvious discomfort with their situation. Lucky for her, his grip slipped and she got away and pulled herself off of the bed. Her complaining took the turn he always expected it to take.
"Lii... you always say this. We've been here together for over a decade now, Tyyn is old enough to play on her own. You know better." He verbally wagged a finger at her, laughing to himself. Every year, around this time Liira got squirmy. She knew what it was like to have seasons change, and now was the time that they should happen. They had had this talk a million times. Tau could recite her argument by heart.
"We always end up having the talk." And by the talk Tau was talking about their constant discussion about moving back to Zena to be with Liira's family.

Liira could feel Tau taking in air, getting ready to shut her down again. Liira sighed and just let it happen. When she could get a word in edgewise she cocked her head and her ear twitched in aggravation.
"So you're telling me you still won't consider it?" She sighed. She had been trying to get Tau to move for years. She wanted Tyyn to know Zena, where she was from, how to hunt in more dangerous terrain than the flat dry sands of Tale. Zena might even be fun for her. "You know Tyyn has only seen her grandparents - my parents - twice since she's been born? We don't go there often enough." She threw her hands up in exasperation. "I know you don't care, but sometimes I like to have to wear clothes."

Tau sat upright in bed, the sheets pooling around his legs. He held out a hand to Liira, wanting her to come in closer. "Lii. You know how long it takes to get to Zena from here. It's a trip. It's hard to make very often, not when Tyyn doesn't want to sit still for anything longer than two minutes. There's a reason we haven't been able to make it back."
He tried to reason with her. "What would we do in Zena anyways? Your father's busy, your mother runs the inn, there's not much time they can give to us."

Liira eyed Tau's hand suspiciously before she sat back down on the bed and brought herself closer to Tau. "Well, Tyyn is older now. She can behave herself better than she could before." Liira started.
"She's also old enough now that she wouldn't have to go with us if she chose to stay. Your mother could watch her." Liira furrowed her brows at Tau's comment about her parents. "Don't even. They would take time to spend with their granddaughter. They always do, you're just making up excuses."
Liira rubbed the back of Tau's hand. "You know. Maybe we could take a break... a little vacation." She started. She knew Tau hated it in Zena, he was miserable every time they went. But if Liira could sacrifice and stay in Tale for the sake of their family, Tau could damn well do the same for her for something as short as a vacation.

Tau felt Liira's body close to his, the skin to skin contact stirred something in him that had him pursing his lips in his own plots and daydreams. It was only when he saw the look on Liira's face that he slouched his shoulders. She was up to something.
When she mentioned the vacation - without Tyyn - he cocked his head to the side. "You know how much I hate Zena." He all but whined to his wife. "Don't make me go back there." He was pitifully begging now. He hated the cold. It was insufferable. And no matter how well build the housing was there, he could feel like there was a draft reaching all the way down to his bones.

Liira smirked now as Tau whined. "You know, I live here. Don't I?" She threw back at him. He should have enough decency to realize what she does that she doesn't like to do.

Tau saw the smirk and then the venom coming from Liira's voice. "Well - I... you wouldn't do that to me though..." He trailed off.
"You stayed for Tyyn, that's your own fault." As soon as the words left her could feel how stupid it was to say.

Liira could feel herself puff up, her anger rising. He might have been just being silly, but Liira didn't appreciate what he was implying. "Whoa there. Now listen here, bub. I stayed because you got me pregnant, not because I had a baby. She could have just as well grown up in Zena and loved it there. She would have known no different. It was YOU that I stayed here for. And YOU owe me." She didn't think she could make herself any clearer.
Tau owed her big time, and they were a family dammit.

Tau tried to back pedal right off of that particular subject. He could feel the heat radiating off of Liira, she was nasty when she was angry, and Tau did not feel like starting the morning that way.
"Okay okay. Hold on." He said, his hands in the air in submission. "Alright. I'm dumb, you're smart. What I said was lame and held no truth." He was really quick at showing his belly so to speak and making sure he didn't receive the lashing that Liira was known to give out when agitated beyond her edge.
"Okay, so how about this: we can take that vacation together. Just you and me. And we can go ahead and feel just how miserably cold Zena is together." He nearly choked out those last words. The cold just cut through him, he didn't have thick enough blood for that.

Liira nearly glared at Tau through narrowed eyes, yeah, he better have something to say to make up for that piece of garbage that came out of his mouth.
She pointed a finger, jabbing at his chest. "Here's what we're going to do." She started, jabbing again. "You and me. We're going to pack up, and we're going to take this trip, and you're going to like it. Because the seasons are just starting to change and by the time we get there, they'll have their first solid snow. And it'll be wonderful." No ifs, ands, or buts. Liira wasn't putting up with excuses. "You might as well pack now, because when I say we leave - we're going."

Tau was used to being spoken to like this, and he already knew that when Liira got like this with him, it was out of some deep weird love for their family and their situation.
Tau chuckled at the finger being poked at him and with one swoop grabbed her poking hand and pulled her in, planting a firm kiss right on her big, nagging mouth.
When he pulled away he grinned. "Yes, dear."

Liira was still ranting when she felt herself getting pulled in suddenly and interrupted by Tau's soft lips.
He really knew how to get on her good side, and she still really enjoyed when he was on her good side. He leaned away, whispering 'yes, dear' into her ear and she could feel the goose bumps travel down her arms. "Yes, dear is right." she reminded Tau before dragging him in for another, more seductive kiss.
"Now keep this up and we can heat up Zena on our own." She teased, hovering just out of reach from his lips.
