Dyakida had many friends, but few who had remained as constant as Bhima. While not close, the woman was still... there. Through war and turmoil. A loyal Alkidike to the bone. Other than that, Dyakida knew little about her, aside from rumors. The woman had, she heard, taken a Shifter lover, a Shifter wife, and there were some that murmured and muttered and asked questions like why. As if love could be so easily explained. Didn't matter much to Dyakida of course – a Sister was a Sister, no matter who she loved or how many other races Aisha had put into them at their blooming. What did matter was that Bhima had done her a solid favor by helping her purchase the crystal, and Dyakida would return that favor in the way they had discussed.
Peyla hovered nearby – presumably eating berries and shoving them into her mouth, because she shoved a few into Dyakida's mouth as well. The gift was accepted graciously with as much dignity as could be managed in such a situation.
Dyakida set out the crystal for the blades.
It was always best to take crystal from the same source for dual blades. Different sources could be done, but when taken from the same source they were more likely to be 'in tune' with each other. As dual blades should be. She began to chisel the blade planes free of the crystal, carefully etching the shape she wanted and then chiseling it away. In this case, she would have a single block that she could then shape and split into two.
She knew Bhima wanted simple, usable blades. That Sister was practical, Dyakida knew, and wouldn't appreciate something frilly or overly decorated, she'd said as much when asked. However, simple still required hard work, especially with raw materials.
Assistants helped her split blade crystal's and shape raw materials, fortunately. But over the course of several days, she personally worked on Bhimas blades. She worked on other commissions, too, and prepared other raw materials with her assistants. She knew that she would need to take a break, at some point, to allow herself to rest her hands in warm, scented water and ease the soreness that built up after such heavy chiseling work.
Eventually, the simple blades were formed, their wooden handles securely attached onto them, their hilts glued and carved into a slight curve. She sharpened and polished them until they were both balanced and sharp, and then put them into scabbards to await delivery. She would try to give them to Bhima personally, and see what she could learn about that stalwart sister.
