Amethyst's life was starting to feel stale. It wasn't that she disliked her life by any means, but something was definitely missing. She had seen so many of her classmates with families and lives outside of studying and work and here she was with nothing to show for it. She didn't even have a very good social life if she was at all honest. Most days she'd come home from work and just crash until she got up in the morning for more school. Life was becoming a never-ending cycle of the mundane. She couldn't help that there was this part of her that wanted fellow Nightmare interaction, someone to hold on to, someone to cuddle and to say goodnight to, someone to share kisses and love with.
The whole thought made her sadder than she wanted to admit. It wasn't that she wanted a significant other (well, she did want that, but that wasn't the point), she just wanted a family, someone that she could show all the love she had. She wanted people she could relate to, people she could love so she'd stop feeling so lonely all the time. Of course, she had all her wonderful familiars, but she wanted something more. Perhaps that was when the thought dawned on her that what she really wanted was a child. Maybe it was a stupid thought, but somehow the thought had calmed her, it made her feel complete and whole. She knew that having a child wasn't going to be easy, but it was the challenge that made everything worth it. If she wasn't okay with challenges then she would never have been studying to be a nurse in the first place.
She smiled softly to herself, moving to see the empty room that she had been trying to fill with a roommate. Maybe it was time to actually take that add down since no one had filled it, maybe she'd actually be able to fill it with a life that she created. Life wasn't about playing it safe and hoping things would eventually change, you had to get out there and change it yourself, didn't you? She could imagine the walls colored brightly, a crib in the corner, a bookshelf full of children's books. She could imagine the life that could happen, the life that she would love unconditionally. Of course, she wasn't the richest person in the Below, but she'd do her best to give her child the life they deserved.
That was settled then. She'd imbue a stone. She'd bring it into her life and make sure that child was loved beyond anything else. She'd work her butt off to give it a good life. Even though she was nervous, she was rather happy she had come up with this decision. She smiled as she entered the room, taking a piece of paper as she began to draw out the plans for the room and all the things she'd eventually need to take care of this child, her child.
