Rumors are spreading of a traveler who has entered the area. Apparently, this traveler has a strange item they claim comes from a different time. It's hard to believe what people are saying, and the only way to really know what is going on is if you see it with your own eyes. So, you make it a point to travel to where the traveler was last sighted, and as you approach you notice a crowd. The traveler is holding up an object, high above their head, and shouting across the crowd. Some approach to get a closer look, some appear fearful, but everyone can agree...this is something no one has ever seen before.
What exactly is the traveler showing off? Roll 1d6 to determine what strange item has been found using the guide below:
Rolled 1-2
The traveler pulls out a strange piece of metal, warped a bit on the edges and covered with an unknown language. It looked similar to what you've read, and you think you can make out words, but overall it doesn't make much sense.

Natalil could hear quite a commotion going on a bit of a distance in front of her, but over what, she couldn't quite tell. There was so many people talking and chatting and whispering excitedly to each other that it was almost impossible for her to make out any specific words or phrases at all. Frowning somewhat, Natalil rocked back and forth on the balls of her feet. She could try to go forward and figure out what in the world was going on, or she could just leave and forget about. But it sounded so interesting and she really wanted to know. Hm. Maybe there would be someone around that she could ask as to what was going on? Everybody seemed excited enough about whatever it was that she was sure they would be willing to ramble to her about what mysterious thing was happening.

Liylasa pushed through the crowd, trying to figure out what was going on. There were so many people and she just wanted to see what was going on! She'd heard there was someone with an item, and that could only mean treasure as far as she was concerned, but with so many people talking and crowding she just needed - ugh! She slammed into someone then, getting knocked off balance and tumbling over. Whoever it was had obviously not been paying a bit of attention.
"Hey! Watch where you're going, will you? I'm walking here!"

The girl was broken out of her thoughts by a small figure running straight into her back, nearly knocking her over with the force of the impact. She barely managed to right herself in time to hear the young voice express displeasure with her presence. She turned around and looked in the general direction the voice had come from, but she was sure that was totally wrong in wherever it was that the person was actually standing.
"Oh, I'm so sorry about that! Please accept my most humble of apologies. My darkened eyes are sometimes quite the hassle in large crowds," Natalil explained sheepishly, scratching the back of her neck. Hopefully whoever it was wouldn't be too mad at her once they realized that she really couldn't see what had been going on around her. Sometimes people understood, other times that didn't seem to matter to them. It was always a mixed bag. "I just couldn't help but venture over here to discover the source of such a large gathering being so excited. Do you, perhaps, know what is going on?"

"There's treasure lady, can't you see that? You have eyes don't you?" Liylasa grumbled, grabbing the girl by the hand. "I swear helpless older people these days can't see treasure or excitement if it came up and bit them." She continued to drag the girl along, hoping to get closer to the stranger to see just what they had. Maybe it was a magical item, or something super expensive. Oh yes that would be fantastic.
"Everyone else around here is too scared to go to look, but not I! The great treasure hunters never shy away from a challenge."

As the girl grabbed her and began to run off, Natalil had no choice but to try to keep up with her. That had not been the reaction she had been expecting, not at all. And wait, when was she an 'older' person? She wasn't that old at all! Whoever this person was must have been quite a bit younger than her to think she was old whatsoever. And yet this young girl called herself a treasure hunter, of all things. So that meant that whatever had caused all this excitement had to be something incredible indeed.
"There's treasure? Would you please describe it to me, impatient small one? I can't actually see at all," Natalil asked as the girl finally slowed down enough for her to say something to her. It was a little hard to focus on just the girl's voice as now she was surrounded by voices and people all talking to each other much louder than before, but she wasn't going to let that distract her from figuring out what was going on.

"Can't see at all? What are you, blind? It's so close I can almost spot it!" she exclaimed, hopping up and down trying to see over a particularly large creature in her way. Ohhhh if only she was taller she could have seen it. Some seemed frightened by whatever it was, but she refused to let it get in the way of her goals. She would see it and she would hopefully be able to get whatever it was. That's what treasure hunters did after all.
"It looks...weird," she explained as she caught a glimpse of it. She needed to get closer.

Laughing quietly to herself, Natalil leaned down so that she was on one knee. "If you wish to raise yourself to greater heights to get a view of this magical, mysterious thing that is so enchanting to you, you may borrow my shoulders, little one," Natalil offered. She was just as curious as the girl was to figure out what it was, and so far, she seemed like her best shot of getting any sort of decent description of it. Besides, while she may not have been the strongest of people in the world, she had excellent balance. She was sure she could handle having someone sit on her shoulders for a time, especially if they were as young as she assumed her new companion was.

"Yes, yes, yes!" Liylasa exclaimed, rushing to climb atop the older girl's shoulders. This way she would be able to see everything! Well, almost everything. There were still large men taller than her, and she would have to strain to see pass them. In reality they just needed to get closer, but her being taller was still a great thing. She could see so much more from this height. Like the fact that most had shied away from the weird object. What was it??
"Forward old lady! Onward! Fast fast!"

Natalil slowly stood up, trying to make sure she could keep her balance with the unfamiliar weight on her shoulders. After a few moments of adjusting and making sure she wasn't going to fall over after taking a step or two, she slowly began to walk forward, counting on her sense of hearing to keep her from running straight into the back of anybody else. She was sure they only needed to venture a few more feet to be able to get a clear view of whatever the mysterious thing was, so she didn't go too far. Hopefully it was enough that the young girl would be able to get a good view of it, because this was her only chance to perhaps figure out what it was.
"Well, can you spot the item? Whatever is it?" Natalil asked, her own excitement at finding out what it was making her voice rise in pitch just a bit.

"Nooooooo. Closer, lady, closer. It's like you've never walked before, come on," she whined, grumbling to herself more than to the woman she was sitting on at the moment. They moved closer and closer, Liylasa having to tug on the other girl in an attempt to steer her out of harms way. Was this what it was like to watch small children? It was a handful! Finally coming upon the traveler, Liylasa pulled her to a stop and scrambled down, running up to the traveler with the so called item.
"Show me, show me, show me," she chanted, staring at the man.

"Don't just run up and demand things of people!" Natalil called after the young girl after she scrambled down, but she highly doubted that she listened to anything she had said. Regardless, she took a few steps closer as the traveler who had the mysterious item began to describe it's 'wondrous' appearance to the two of them. Hmm. A piece of metal with a strange language on it? If only she hadn't lost her sight so very long ago. Maybe she could have figured out more about what this thing was. But now, all she could do was wander about what it may possibly be. It was just one piece, so surely there had to be more of it somewhere. What in the world could it possible mean, though?

"Really? That's it? No shiny treasure? No fancy jewel? That's not very exciting at all," Liylasa grumbled, turning back to Natalil. "Come on, lady. This isn't even worth it. Who needs a weird piece of metal. Certainly not a treasure hunter of great renown," she sighed, incredibly disappointed by the item. She grabbed hold of her arm once more and began to tug her along, despite any resistance the girl seemed to have. Liylasa was a very determined youngling and would not be stopped.
"That's just so very laaaaaaame," she whined more.

"You never know," Natalil started, letting herself be dragged along by the young girl. It was already obvious that there was no stopping this small force of nature when she decided that she wanted something. "Perhaps it is a piece of a large, mystical treasure that could change the very foundation of our world? Maybe it's a piece of a map that leads to a mountain of the most glorious treasure anybody has ever heard of. Maybe it could lead to something even more fantastic that that," Natalil teased lightly. She really couldn't help herself. The girl seemed so obsessed with treasure and shiny things.

"Ahhhhh I've got to go back and find a way to get it you could be right, bye lady don't run into anyone I gotta go," Liylasa shouted, scrambling to run on back to the traveler and leave the blind girl behind. Perhaps one day she would find out what it meant if she tried hard enough and became an even greater treasure hunter.
