The Oban sun was rather hot today. His eyes narrowed against the light, Kieran pulled up his hold so that more of his face was hid. While he, himself, had gotten more used to the mainland the Yaeli realized that it was still strange for most earthlings to see his race walking so openly about so the cloak stayed. It also helped protect him from gaining a worst burn than what he already received from all his time out in this desert country.
A hiss near his ear got his attention and the man raised a hand to run a finger along warm coils, "Ssh, Aia. I'll get you water soon." He knew that the keldari hated constant heat and so he tried his hardest to continue giving her water while sheltering her from the sun - save for those moments when she would bathe in the light. Unfortunately due to his latest adventures - which may or may not have almost created a new ravine in the desert through an underground cave system - the Yaeli was all out of water. So it was now that he walked towards a city where he could hopefully find a spring or well so that he could refill his water pouches.

She tried to be good. She tried to be nice. She tried to be quiet and modest and perfect. She didn't want anyone else getting hurt because of her. However, even Aaricia had her limits.
It was another dinner party. Another attempt by her father to display her for future "sale." One of the men had gotten too touchy with his large hands during their dance, and Aaricia had slapped him. Before anyone else could react, the offended man retaliated with those same hands with a solid punch to her side, Aaricia crying out as a rib cracked.
Good girls do as they're told. Good girls don't make a fuss. Good girls keep their heads down. ...Good girls also don't cry when they get punished for bad behavior.
She was sent away from the party on her own, escorted by a servant who absolutely refused to speak a word or even touch her to help her walk. They moved slowly, Aaricia quite out of practice when it came to dealing with injuries. Passing the water fountain of the town market, she asked to sit for a moment. Receiving only a nervous look in reply, she held her side and tried to push on. No more getting anyone else in trouble...

Ah, a water fountain. Satisfied to have found a source of water, Kieran allowed his keldari to slither into the waters while he refilled his waterpouch...
Normally the Yaeli was relieved when foreigners - well technically he was the foreigner here- walked past, but something about this particular scene bothered him. The girl obviously seemed to be in pain while the one with her didn't even bother to offer a hand. Was there a reason for that? In the back of his mind Kieran pondered over any curses or other superstitions that perhaps could have been the culprit before stopping himself - this wasn't Yael.
So why be so cold to a girl obviously in pain?
There are still a few things I need to learn about Oba, it appears. What better way then to do so than by sticking his nose into this situation? Smiling faintly the cloaked stranger tucked his refilled water pouch into his sash before moving forward, "I promise I wasn't trying to take all the water. If you needed it you could have sat at this fountain as well." He called out after the two mainlanders.

Aaricia looked up at the gentle voice, eyes widening slightly at the cloaked figure. The man's features were in shadow, but.. were his eyes glowing a little? No. That must just be the reflection of the light... She turned her head as the little servant ducked behind her with fear at the stranger's approach. Sighing, Aaricia shook her head. "I apologize if I seemed to turn away at your presence. I must get to.. somewhere.. and I don't really have time to rest." She couldn't let the poor dear behind her get snarled at for taking what could be considered too long. And tell some stranger who wasn't a doctor about her problem? How inappropriate that would be... "Thank you for your concern."

Kieran took another step forward. Just let them go, don't be a fool. There was just something though about the whole situation which bothered him, "Is there someone waiting for you?" He asked quietly, "Some dire situation which would make a lady such as yourself hurry there despite your pain?" The Yaeli frowned as he studied the other girl. Each step closer brought a bit more of his shadowed face into focus, but even then he tried to keep his hood up...at least for a little longer.

Aaricia held her side, eyes shifting away bashfully. The man could tell she was in pain, and was actually concerned? "There.. are people waiting... They're expecting us back sooner rather than later. They'll.. be upset if I go too slowly."
Despite his fear, the little servant was a curious young lad. He leaned around to squint at the stranger under the hood. He gasped with surprise and fright, squeezing Aaricia's waist for support. ..Of course, that only made Aaricia cry out as pain flared through her ribs. She bent and hugged herself while the servant gave a terrified shriek about demons and ran back for home.

"Shouldn't they be more upset if you came back while in pain?" Protested Kieran despite himself. If there was one thing about the normally introverted stranger, it was that he was raised to care for those in need. Despite being a mainlander, this girl also seemed to be in need of a helping hand. His concern for the girl made him lower his guard enough for the servant to get a good glimpse of his face something that despite losing a lot of its glow still looked frightful to a mainlander who was not accustomed to glasses glinting off of a dark pair of silver eyes...
Not worried about the yells of demons, Kieran instead focused on the cry of pain. Instantly he moved forward and wrapped a concerned around around the girl's shoulders, "Tell me what hurts and where? I can try to help you if you would like..." It looked as if it were her side, but there could be multiple causes for that. He knew of intestinal pain, of organs not working properly, of sprains, of fractures, or even of broken limbs - his mother and his own antics had covered plenty of injuries after all. His hood had fallen back to reveal his obviously Yaeli features with his tan skin, lavender hair, and more importantly - his softly glowing eyes.

Most would call her a cry baby for how easily the tears fell at the pain. She wasn't a fighter though! She wasn't used to this! Face flushed with embarrassment and pain, Aaricia breathed deeply before she could open her eyes again. They finally opened as she slowly straightened up, and her mouth slacked open. What... what was he? Purple hair and glowing eyes... "It.. It's... my... side. ..My.. ribs are.. broken..." she murmured, still gawking in very unladylike shock and awe.

His face a little flushed at the obvious staring he was receiving the Yaeli gingerly moved the girl towards the fountain ledge where she could sit down, "Broken? Then you definitely need rest. Who in the right mind would allow you to rush across Oba in such a state?" He muttered as he focused on the girl, "I don't mind if you want to keep staring - don't mind me I wont' take your soul for this." He teased quietly, "But I do have some salves and bandages...actually..." He glanced around, "If the area is deserted enough I can attend to you here, but preferably I would rather wrap you up away from wandering eyes." He smiled shyly, "For both my sake and yours." Hard to tend to someone without being called a demon. Who knew what type of person would rush after him for taking advantage of a young lady like the demon he was? Kieran just shook his head slowly. He would never, but in this case her ribs needed attention...that was something he would not ignore.

Who in their right mind, indeed. Certainly not her father...
The mention of her staring made her cheeks flush even hotter, but she couldn't bring herself to stop. "M-m-my apologies," she murmured, blinking a little to clear some of her head. He had bandages and salves. "Are.. you a healer?" Her eyes had become locked onto the man's lavender hair. It was such a lovely shade... Was it truly natural? "May I touch your hair?" she asked quickly, face heating up even further.

"You don't need to apologize." The Yaeli spoke softly with a gentle expression, "Trust me - so far your reaction has been one of the kindest." Honestly he probably would stare as well if he had never seen something before - he had done a lot of that himself when coming to the mainland. It wasn't also as if the girl's own strange appearance hadn't caught his attention either. Out of all the Obans and foreigners he had encountered she was the first to look like this.
"Not technically, no." He replied honestly, "But I'm an explorer with plenty of bruises and broken ribs to my name. So I've learned a few things about patching up injuries."
His expression did, however, widen at the strange and sudden question. "My hair?" Kieran found himself frowning, not in offense but in honest surprise, before laughing. "I suppose if you truly insist. Just try not to pull it out?" He smiled teasingly, "I tend to be rather fond of it myself." The rather tall Yaeli gently bowed his head towards the girl, "But once you're done 'exploring' my hair let's focus on helping you. Then I can answer any other requests afterwards."

Kindest? But she was gawking like a child! She was still staring! ...He wasn't a doctor though. Head clearing a little more with each passing moment, she gave a small nod. "Okay.. I would appreciate your help.." Strange looking or not, he was already treating her better than the pure Oban doctor she had seen a couple times before.
The allowance of her silly question made her gold eyes light up. She felt so silly... but her hands rose and gently touched the lavender locks. Slowly, they petted and curled through. It felt like regular hair... "It's wonderful," she murmured. All at once, she yanked her hands back and looked away bashfully. Such a childish thing to do... "Where.. do we need to go?" Her gaze flicked back over. "Are there others like you here?" Trusting this man was one thing, but she couldn't help being nervous at the thought of more of them.

Kieran smiled gently, "Thank you for trusting me." Not many would have agreed to such things - but perhaps it was the injury speaking more than fear. Survival always tended to make earthlings do things that normally wouldn't be quite to their tastes. Pushing the pessimistic though aside, Kieran instead focused on the girl.
It was hard though considering how she was playing with his hair. A quiet chuckle left his lips, "Is it?" He teased lightly, "Perhaps I should feel yours to see how different it must feel." He had never seen someone react to his hair like this before, but then again those who stayed near him were always Yaeli. The other earthlings he kept his distance from while others instantly fled at the sight of him.
"My camp is towards the edge of town. As you can tell I try to stay away from populated places since I'm not completely welcomed by everyone here." He gave her a wry smile, "But don't worry it's simply me and Aia...who..." Frowning, the man glanced over towards the fountain where a soft hissing escaped under the bubbling water, "Whooo might not be the happiest with me." Reaching a hand into the water, Kieran laughed. "Don't be so bitter - you enjoyed the bath."
As the keldari slithered up his arm and around his neck, the Yaeil pulled back up his hood. "Can you walk easily? We can take it slowly and if you wouldn't mind I can offer support." He reached out a hand towards her, "My name is Kieran, miss, and I sincerely thank you for allowing me to help you."

Her hair?! Well, perhaps it was only fair... "You.. may.. if you wish..." she murmured bashfully. "I just.. the color of yours is lovely. I've.. never seen anything like it." There was much of the world she hadn't seen yet. She didn't see that changing any time soon though.
Aia? She turned carefully to look where the man had focused, her eyes widening with shock once again. Her heart skipped with a similar reaction she had to seeing the man; surprise and awe. Then the hood went up and the creature was hidden. "Will that bite me?" she asked hesitantly, staring at the offered hand a moment before accepting it. It felt so strange. Name? "Oh, my name is Aaricia. Thank you for your help." No longer star-struck with the stranger's looks, she was snapped back to reality by the onlookers. Many nobles had stopped to give her inquisitive and suspicious looks as she sat with the stranger. Her eyes dropped and she quickly pulled her hand away. "Perhaps.. it would be better for you.. to not help me.." she murmured.

Kieran just shook his head, "I'm more concerned with getting you somewhere safe first. Thank you for the compliment, but if you ever came to Yael you would be surrounded by hair similar to mine. Though I do have to admit I am sometimes rather proud of how it's wavy - the color may be similar to others, but my hair is my own." He teased lightly with a wink.
"Aia does not bite so you need not fear her. Mostly she'll just hiss if you get in her way, but she tends to be grumpy like that." Replied Kieran with a slight smile, "It's no problem, Aaricia." What a lovely name. Her sudden change of heart had the male frowning, "Are you worried?" He whispered as he gazed about, "I'm used to receiving strange stares -but no worries. I'm quite capable of holding my own against anyone who doesn't want to give me my space. Plus, I can always steal someone's soul if they truly want to try and cause trouble." An obvious tease as he offered his hand once more to the girl, "So please don't worry about me and allow me to help you."
