You're attacked by a group of three small animals -- your choice what sort, but they should be native to the Louisiana area. Their eyes are crazed, and their action are erratic, implying that there's no sense behind their actions. These are wild beasts, and they attack together.
Hit Points: 10 each, for a total of 30, but one dies for each 10 HP damage you do to them. Damage: Each does 2 each time you attack, for a total of 6 to start. This number goes down as you kill them.
If you successfully kill all three animals and reach 500 words, each party involved in the battle gets 10XP and rolls 1d100 to collect loot according to the following:
1-10: You are bitten during the attack, and are turned into an animal! Size is determined by your weapon: agile weapons become small animals, balanced become medium sized, and heavy become large. 11-40: You gain nothing but the victory of having beaten this opponent. 41-90: Moly Flower: a small white flower with a dark root. You're not quite sure what it's for, but decide to keep it. 91-100: Rabid Blood: these creatures have been infected with something that makes their blood potent. It can be vialed and used once to deal an extra 3 damage [after modifiers] on your next successful attack, after which it is consumed and leaves your inventory forever.

Lex was beginning to wish for a shower, a long on. And a whirl jet deep tub just to soak into afterwards. And bubbles. He wanted bubble bath and the softest and largest of towels he could find and some orange picks. Because the under bed of his nail was filthy. It was hot and he was feeling a bit itchy. And probably smelled a bit.
The Louisiana bayou was gross. He sighed, pushing his crazily fizzing hair from his eyes and kept going forward. “Anyone out there?” He called out. He stopped at the hissing, looking first up and then down.
Those were… weasels? Some sort of vicious slinky, and rabid and more reason to really, really hate Circe.

He was slipping a bit, overconfident? Tired? Worried? Lex shook his head, shifting about, managing to clip one, not as good as his first hit, but hee, least he can say he always managed to hit. It helped that his weapon was attached to his hand. Hard to lose it. After this though… he really should see about staying in one area and no moving for the day.
Maybe just go into town. Clean up and relax and explore a bit. Though he was bloody and battered. Wondered how well that was going to fly with the natives?

If he was going to go down, he was going to do it swinging. At the moment, it was sort of cathartic to roll his stress into fighting something that he didn’t have to worry about being gentle with. That was rabid and drooling and gone. So very gone, running on adrenaline and instinctive response to claw and bite.

He hummed slightly, moving slowly as he took in the slinky, quick moving weasels. They were faster than most of the creatures he had fought in the woods. Pretty to, if they hadn’t been ill and patchy in fur and muck. Lex grunted as they attacked, they didn’t weigh much but still were solid and had all sorts of sharp bits.
He hit out and shifted, frowning as the weasel twisted and fell on all four feet.

So very, agile. He shifted and smacked one in the belly, watching it arch and fall to lay limp. The last scratched over his shoulder, leaving stinging marks behind. Lex turned, keeping the quick creature in sight. Last one. He nodded to the creature, arms up and ready.

This one was also smarted, twisting as he went to hit it. The brass knuckles barely brushed the coat. He sported a new pair of claw marks over his hips and a mishmash of growing bruises. Okay, he really needed a bath and some pain balm.

A twist and a step forward, and a sharp crack of a good solid hit. Lex nodded watching it slid and come to a stop. He looked over the scratches, checking for anything deep or worry some before walking to the bodies and hunkered down, looking them over.
