June was admittedly curious. The jellyfish die-out was the current buzz of the town since Ashdown was relatively quiet and June wanted to check out just how gnarly it actually was. Unsurprisingly, there were quite a few people down at the beach doing the same thing she was.

She had Captain on a leash since she figured it was a good way to walk him; early morning before work. It was one of those rare days that June had felt like waking up early and doing something with her time instead of sleeping in.

What she'd expected to find was a lot of jellyfish and maybe some seashells, not a fellow coworker.

The cloudless rain along with the reports of strange jelly at the beach had Shun feeling a little suspicious. The former was odd enough as is, and it made him wonder if this was another leak from the other world, the place where it never stopped raining.

The ooze... could be a direct product of that. Or if it really was a jellyfish die off, something indirectly, due to something happening within the sea.

He made his way to the beach to take a look for himself. A quick investigation of sorts before heading towards the police station. Apparently, someone else had the same idea, as he quickly spotted a certain secretary with her dog around here as well.

"..Are you not worried your dog might try to eat some of the s**t on the ground?"

June started at the noise, not having heard Shun approach. He was kind of a quiet guy and she wasn't really paying attention. When she realized it was just him she let out a sigh of relief.

"Oh gosh no. Captain's totally scared of stuff like that." He was an easily frightened dog, on a leash and well trained. She didn't have too many worries. "How are you this morning Mr. Kuroda? Out to see the jellyfish?"

"I am well," he shrugged. Not really. But it was good enough of an answer for now, "Yes... the jellyfish..."

Or whatever it was.

"Some of it may have been cleaned up by now, but I figured I would come check for myself. It seemed about as good of a time as any."

"That's good to hear," she said in reference to him being well, with a tiny smile on her face. She looked out to the squishy blobs and said, "It's a little scary, don't you think? That all those animals just died." Her body gave a little shudder in response; so creepy.

"Would you like to walk with me and Cap?" she asked before assuming; Shun seemed like a bit of a lonely guy who preferred his solitude. She wanted to invite him to her company rather than make any assumptions with such a touchy character.

Eyeing the blob a little further off, Shun walked up to it and crouched by the goop. He wasn't about to touch it, but he did want a closer look. Maybe it resembled something he had seen in Other Ashdown. But... so far, he wasn't coming up with much. Except... maybe a murmur.

It was hard to tell, and he wasn't about to touch it to see if it had similar effects to one of those wisps. It was a thought, though. However... if these were actually the murmurs, he had to wonder what that meant exactly. Those things seemed to contain memories. If they were destroyed, did that mean there was no way to access those memories any longer? He had no idea if each murmur was unique in that regard.

"I suppose it could not hurt for the time being. I have not much else to do here," he murmured.

Captain was running circles around her feet, trying to corral her away from the jellyfish. She swore in his past life he was a sheepdog.

June bent over to unhook his leash so he'd stop being a pain. Even unhooked he was calm, never straying more than a few feet from June. He really was well trained.

"This beach only allows dogs off the leash on the waveslope, but I think that's where most of the jellyfish are so it should be okay." She wiggled her toes in her sandals, already sinking into the sand a bit. June was oblivious to any part of this being anything more than a walk down the beach. "Do you ... like jellyfish?"

Shun watched Captain for a moment or so, taking note of how well behaved the hound was. It would have been a pain in the a** if he had to chase after the dog because it ran off upon being released.

"Jellyfish is good with sesame and chili oil," he commented.

Not that he wanted to eat this goop. No, that seemed like a horrible idea.

She blinked a few times at such a comment. She'd never had jellyfish before, but now she had a serious desire to try some. Was it like salty jell-o ...?

"I don't think you should use any of these poor guys- they've already had it hard enough," she said with a tiny laugh.

June took a step to begin walking down the beach, looking at Shun to follow. Captain trailed closely behind, keeping a good distance from all of the goops. "They're kind of pretty ... in an abstract sort of way." She looked out to the shoreline, feeling oddly at ease out here. Maybe it was because she couldn't just hide away in her office. "Anyways, how have you been Mr. Kuroda? We don't talk much at the office."

"I doubt these are the edible sort anyway. I do not advise trying to eat them."

Shun examined the blob a little longer, but he couldn't make much from it. Letting out a breath, he straightened up and started to walk along the beachside, keeping his eyes out for other blobs.

"As I said already... I am well," he muttered. He really hadn't been fine for the most part. Right now, he was in a more neutral state of mind, but there were still some lingering bits of doubt that ate away at him.

"Oh. What have you been up to lately?" Surely Shun did things outside of the office ... not like her.

Shun gave a shrug.

"Just the usual sort of s**t. Nothing particularly spectacular," he said. It wasn't a lie. He was training himself. With greater intensity than before but it was there.

"I have a rat now. That is the biggest change. "

"Is it a magical rat?" she asked out of curiosity. She wasn't so stupid as to think everything revolving around Shun was magical, but it was coincidental timing.

At that, Shun just kind of stopped and stared at her.

"No. A regular, normal, rat," he said flatly.

"Oh." Was she maybe a little embarrassed now? Maybe. "Well that's still exciting. Pets are great." Captain looked up expectantly at the word pets. She looked down at him with a disappointed kind of look. "No bud, no pets for you, no no no." But she leaned over and gave him a few pats before sending him on his way.
