Practically bouncing off the bus she'd rode into town on, Cordelia couldn't stop grinning from ear to ear. Since waking from her stone slumber, the Basilisk had taken things slow like the Lab recommended and slowly but surely she started looking and feeling better. She wasn't yet one hundred percent, still finding herself tiring easily if not careful, but for the most part she was finally getting back to what you'd call normal for a Raevan.
As she floated down the street away from the bus stop, Cordelia had to stifle a giggle. She just couldn't help it! It had literally been forever since she'd seen any of her friends and today, she was going to see Zul! The Baphomet had always held a special place in her heart. He was the first of their kind she'd ever met and she felt it only fitting he get to be the first one to see that she was back and doing much better.
She slowed to make her way down a small side street before stopping completely in front of a door. It wasn't hard to find out where Zul had set up shop. No, what was hard was not telling him. It took every ounce of her being not to text or call. She wanted to see the look on his face when she showed up unannounced. He was bound to be ecstatic! That thought alone is what got her through with her secret plan without any slip ups.
Delia smoothed down her long black hair which was loose from its ponytail today, but held in place with a simple green headband. A feat more troublesome than one would think as her excitement kept making the ends of her hair billow with her essence. Once she was satisfied that her hair wasn't going to get any better than it was, Cordelia raised her hand to knock on the door. She took a deep breathe before actually knocking and opening the door, the silver and emerald bracelet she'd swapped her bracers for making a tiny clinking sound as she did. "Ello? Can Zul come out and play?"

He didn't immediately turn when he heard the door open, carefully situating a small glass jar on a high shelf that only those with wings could reach, the phosphorescent, liquid dust within it swirling as it settled. The demon typically was engrossed in his work but would make time for his customers, especially if they sought his special brand of wares, but he couldn't just drop everything and tend to anyone who came through the door; dropping certain items or being careless could result in a rather catastrophic reaction, and that wasn't exactly good for business.
But the jar settled, and floating backwards, he tilted his head to the side to make sure it was where he wanted it - perfectly, as usual - taking in a breath to greet the individual at his back. Something caught in his throat, though - a familiar smokiness, a thickness that had volume and life and stirred old memories. Zul turned with a mixture of politeness and perplexity in his brow, fully intending to greet them professionally, but her voice reached his ears as he was turning and his eyes fell upon her as she quipped her words.
Cordelia. It was his Delia. His Stormy.
Zul froze visibly, expression rigid save for the widening of his eyes. Then, quite suddenly, he let out a sharp whoop of joy, the freeze thawing rapidly in a quick, crooked grin and an exuberant lift of his chest as he drew in his breath again. The Sigel vaulted over the counter and with a grin bordering on manic, he wrapped his arms tight beneath Cordelia's wings and lifted her in a tight, affectionate embrace, kissing her cheek and practically nuzzling into her shoulder. "Stormy!" he finally choked out a greeting, glee and excitement painting his words, "My most beautiful and wonderful friend, how are you? Where have you been? It's been -- " A lifetime. Too long. " -- ages!" He pulled back enough to look her face over -- happier, healthier than the last he'd seen her. "I've missed you!"

There was no answer at first as he was tending to something that seemed rather delicate and fragile at the moment she'd decided to show up. But then he turned, his movements slow, like the Basilisk was watching a movie and she couldn't help but feel a hitch catch in her breathing. That tri-horned creme and flame hair with those piercing icy blue eyes that seemed to see you straight to your core...Zul was still a sight to behold and in that moment, to Cordelia, he was even more so.
Though slow to start, as if he'd seen a ghost, the Sigel was fast to recoup and was bounding towards her like someone's life would depend on it. Though this was the reaction Delia had been hoping and expecting, her own reaction she had not anticipated. The tight, almost intimate embrace threw her for a loop as tears began to swell in her silver eyes and she too hugged him back fiercely. She'd been missed. Someone missed her and that's when she realized she had been harboring doubts of whether anyone had truly been sad she was gone.
Pushing the tears aside, Cordelia giggled happily instead. Yet as soon as the smokey laced laughter had began, it stopped. He didn't know? How hadn't he known? Were others kept in the dark too? Is that why no one came to see her? Her slight, newly born mistrust of humans was starting to scratch at the back of her mind then, but now wasn't the time for that.
A slight frown gracing her features then, "W-what do you mean, 'where have I been'? I've been stuck in stone for the last couple years. Didn't the Lab tell you? The Doctor? Surely Alex must have at least mentioned it to you." After all she worked at the Lab right?

He hummed, a delighted sound that rolled into a near purr, smiling at her like a pleased feline -- until she spoke of why she'd been gone, until she brought up Alex. Zul's own smile faltered and then fell away, expression torn between shock and a distant sort of hurt that hadn't quite healed. "Lex isn't at the Lab anymore," he said by means of apology, settling Cordelia back down but not letting her go. If anything, he looked more ready to whisk her away to safety.
"No one at the Lab has spoken with me for...two years, now," he remarked, careful in his choice of words. "I didn't know...I'm so sorry." Gingerly, he brushed some of her hair from her face, concern knitting his brow. Ebony hadn't said anything - or if she had, maybe Alex just hadn't understood, given all she'd gone through. What he'd gone through seemed so small in comparison of being turned into solid stone. "Are you alright? You look -- you look good, you look great, I'd have never of known you were..." Immobile stone. For years.
Zul hurt a little, wishing he'd known. It was a small gesture, but he could have visited, even talked to her stone countenance...just...not left her alone all this time.

"Lex isn't at the Lab anymore,"
He'd said it so matter of factly, monotone bordering on sadness. It took her by surprise. Something major had happened, she could tell. His eyes at first shining joyfully with their reunion now was dulled by some distant memory or emotion. Cordelia's mouth opened to speak, but no words came then. Once upon a time, she would have pushed forth with whatever thought that came to mind, but things within herself were somewhat different now. She was more prone to thinking before she spoke these days.
Words failing her for the moment as she was not sure how to even bridge this gap that had suddenly sprung between them, the snake gently placed her chilled hand against his warm cheek and smiled fondly. Whatever happened could wait to be told later when he was more prepared to, right now all she wanted was to see him happy.
"Hey, it's okay. If you didn't know, you didn't know. You're probably not the only one. The Lab was probably being extra delicate with the matter. You know, maybe not wanting to put others in a panic in case it was something that was contagious or whatever." Delia gave an awkward laugh then. It seemed plausible right? She'd been a catalyst of an epidemic once before, putting her in quarantine would make sense. "Luckily that wasn't the case and everything worked itself out. Zeke told me to take it easy though so I have been, but my granddad is driving me a little nuts lately. I'm sure he's afraid I'll fall apart at any moment."
"But I'm perfectly fine! See?" With a smirk, she twirled out of the demon's embrace and spun around to prove she was right as rain. At least on the outside, on the inside the Frei was a chaotic whirlwind of doubts and emotions. Her smile faltered some then though as a thought occurred. "Although...things are rather overwhelming. So much has changed since I've been...gone. Like this shop! When did this happen?"
