Talisia had finally managed to make her way to Sauti. The hybrid stood on a cliff overlooking the landscape below. Had it truly been that many years since she had last crossed this country in order to leave her own? Her gaze was solemn as she stood and allowed the cold breeze to blow around her. The feeling of cold and of winter was something she hadn’t experienced in a long time. Even if Jahaur got chilly it was nothing compared to the winters of Zena and Sauti.
But here she was. Smiling the beast tamer reached out a hand as a loose leaf flew through the air. It was the perfect time to travel – right before the harsh weather came for the year. “So nice.” She had to admit as she slipped down the ledge. It was definitely refreshing to be cool and not sweating for once! In her observations of the land, however, Talisia hadn’t realized that she had stumbled into a den of things. Things that ended up having scaly bodies and tongues that flickered out as warning hisses filled the air. “Whoops.” Smiling awkwardly the girl attempted to veer away from the openings along the cliff where the creatures perched.
Unfortunately for her the slip up wasn’t easily forgiven by the creatures. Had she run into another nest? Groaning, Talisia quickly dropped down from the last few feet of the path and as she tumbled towards the ground noticed that three of the stubborn creatures had continued flying towards her. I suppose it’s better than having to face a whole horde. Could they not be calmed somehow? Honestly, she didn’t know much about the scaly creatures save for that one woman had mentioned something about sailscales in the cliffs before. Okay, so that might have been a main reason that Talisia was here in the first place, but she hadn’t been intending on fighting them!
Wild creatures always so eager to fight or flee. Talisia rolled her eyes before dodging a flying shape. Her whip hanging loosely and dropped to the ground, but the hybrid tumbled towards it. Reaching out a hand her fingers touched the handle barely. Just a bit more if she could stretch…cursing the hybrid rolled again as another screech warned her of more attacks.
Fortunately though she was pretty capable of dodging these things thanks to training with the boys. Though the thought made her heart clench Talisia had to clear her head. Less moping about losing that little bit she had and more focus on fighting to make sure she could walk away for the future! Not that she should worry about such little creatures – surely they weren’t so bad? Though the stinging pain she felt in her arm as one sliced her in a dive made her reconsider things. Perhaps it was best if she acted quickly.
Tossing her whip out, Talisia snapped it loudly in the air before beginning her own attack. If they thought they could just fly by and not get anything in return then these creatures were foolish! Talisia pursed her lips in concentration as she just waited and waited. Then as her eyes closed she heard it – the returning sound of those wings cutting through the air. Whack! Her whip connected with one that let out a screech before falling into the ground nearby while another one prepared to dive again. Let’s see how lucky I can get with this. She was patient as she waited and worked on preparing herself to attack before they could fly away.
Soon enough the girl had swiped her whip out enough times to knock another onto the ground and then the final one she actually managed to grab with her hands. Its flailing forced Talisia to her knees but she held on with determination. “I just wanted to study you!” She protested as the thing tried to bite at her. Grunting, Talisia twisted her legs so that she could shove the creature into her lap. One hand on its neck kept it from biting towards her while another ledged the wings with their talons under her legs. Thank goodness for thick leather. She was so thankful that she had changed clothes from the fine silks she had worn on occasion in Jahaur. Anything like that and she would be not only naked but cut to pieces.
Still, as the sailscale stopped struggling and the other two lay there for a ‘nap’ Talisia had to look over the thing. So this was the sailscales that the woman had spoken so much about…

The one sailscale in her lap wiggled as she studied it. The scales were a beautiful blue with silver outlining. Talisia smiled as she gently touched its neck, “Ssh, little guy. I’m not going to harm you, promise.” The other two had flown off, but Talisia had kept this guy in her lap for study. He actually seemed pretty injured. Not from her their tousle she hoped. Frowning the hybrid brushed a strand of hair away from her eyes as she leaned over him and studied his neck. Was that why they were so angry at her? Had she interrupted a fight between this guy and the others? Pursing her lips Talisia tightened her hold on the sailscale before slowly making her way to where her satchel was lying on the ground. She could bandage him up nicely and maybe even had an ointment to help heal those bite wounds.
Despite the occasional hisses the creature was a rather decent patient – considering the others she had taken care of in the past which included a radaku who had almost tried clawing her eyes out in its pain. So this guy was definitely not so bad. However, Talisia was worried. If she let him back out like this who would change his bandages and make sure the wound healed properly?
“I’m sorry little guy. I’m going to have to take you for a bit and then if you want to leave that’s fine.” She pulled out another cloth satchel from her bag and after a little bit of a fight managed to secure the sailscale inside, “Alright, let’s go.” Smiling Talisia lowered a hand and patted the mostly closed bag, with a little opening or two for air, before walking back down the path towards her camp…
