Quote: This opponent is difficult solo, and pairs are suggested! You venture a bit out into the swamplands, following a strange sound in the distance -- and before you can get too far, you spot a very large-sized animal, floundering around a bit among the trees. As you approach, you notice something strange: some shredded fabric still clinging around one foot, or around its neck, like the remnants of some long-destroyed clothing. At this point, it occurs to you that this might be a transformed human being. Maybe it's even one of you. And you must capture it. Except it doesn't seem to want to be captured. Your approach spooks it, and it attacks you in blind fear. Hit Points: 60 HP Damage: 5 HP each time you attack If you bring this monster down to 5HP or below, it is injured and can be captured and brought back to the campsite for safe keeping until you can figure out what to do. However, if you drop it below 0HP, you kill it. Either outcome, once finished with 500 words each party involved in the battle gets 15XP and rolls 1d100 to collect loot according to the following: 1-5: You are bitten during the attack, and are turned into an animal! Size is determined by your weapon: agile weapons become small animals, balanced become medium sized, and heavy become large. 6-25: You gain nothing but the victory of having beaten this opponent. 26-95: Moly Flower: a small white flower with a dark root. You're not quite sure what it's for, but decide to keep it. 96-100: Fine Wine: Why would an animal have a bottle of wine? Considering all that's going on, we strongly suggest you don't drink. If you act rashly and do, though, please PM and be blue for consequences. Finding Cas, it turned out, was easier said than done. For one, neither had recently seen the man. Marisol was positive she had seen him before they'd broken up into groups. After that, she'd only seen Rose. And thus it was hard to even know where to look for him. They'd agreed to start by making their way back to the camp and leaving the bear carcass behind them. In the distance, however, a loud roar echoes and the search... "I'm sure Cas is fine," her voice sounds more confident than she feels. "If that's a Chosen..." she trails off, knowing that the blonde will catch her point and agree with her. As unfortunate as it is, they can't just ignore it. Especially because it doesn't sound like anything tiny or even native. How right she is, she only knows when the leathery face of a impossibly black gorilla comes into sight as it runs forward. <********>

"We'll manage, my liege," Rose hummed softly to Marisol, trying to extend a sort of comfort to her, if she could. "If our valiant knight is absent, we'll be no worse the wear for it." They were hardly damsels that couldn't stand up for themselves, and though it would have been nice if Cas could join them, there was a distant sense of comfort that his absence meant he was safe and not in the thick of things.
As unlikely as it seemed, anyway.
Their discussion cut short by the foreign sound, Rose turned her alarmed blue eyes towards the form that raced towards them...

...and she wasn't going to let Marisol charge ahead this time. Not this time. The bow fell fast into her hand, arrow slung across easy and familiar, blue eyes narrowing. "My King, if you'll allow me," she remarked playful, almost entirely unphased by the fact there was a gorilla in the bayou of Louisiana. Poison pooping birds? Chosen changing into creatures? What the hell was a gorilla any different where it didn't belong?
The arrow was let loose, lodging in the primate's charge, crippling the initial momentum where it speared into its back leg. "This way, darling," she called to the gorilla as she moved, fleet of foot, drawing its attention.

Marisol turned green eyes towards the blonde, lips turned up as she found the positions changed. King and Queen were surely devoted, she thought, as she watched the beast focus on her girlfriend. Unfurling the whip, she waited to get a little bit of distance before striking out. The leather snapped against the gorilla's back and it snorted, turning a glower on the dancer but she only smirked. "You can't tango with me, big boy," she chuckled. Marisol's Health: 47 - 5 = 42 HP Gorilla's Health: 54 - (50% x 4) = 52 HP

The creature turned and Rose felt that mild sort of irritation creep back through her shoulders, the arrow knocked into place before she even realized it. "No," she answered in agreement, "her dance card is filled." The bolt was let loose, hitting the gorilla so hard in the neck that she actually thought for one horrible moment that she'd broke it. The angry roar that returned the shot told otherwise, however, and unfettered, she lightly flit over a tangle of roots to get her bearings and ready her next aim.

The ferocity of the archer's attacks was a mixture of invigorating and terrifying, in the fact that she absolutely never wanted to be on the wrong side of the arrow. The fact her own safety was apart of the reason for it--a tingle stroked down her spine and she had to fight not to shiver. Now was really not the time for exhilaration of the more private kind. Danger, she told herself, as she sprung forward and lashed the whip against the beast's shoulder. It was a solid thwack that sent the beast turning in her direction. The gaze of startling and for a moment she froze. And then it turned, bracing itself on its knuckles. s**t. Marisol's Health: 42 - 5 = 37 HP Gorilla's Health: 40 - (100% x 4) = 36 HP

Alarm rippled through her as the gorilla seemed intent on focusing on Marisol (and part of her - a part that should not have been heard at all in that moment - asked who could really blame the gorilla?). "Marisol!" Rose called in warning, aware the dancer could see what was happening but helpless to say anything else. Be careful and watch out seemed a bit contrived.
Her next arrow skimmed the beast, as it charged just as she fired. Blue eyes flared with a heat of an impossibly hot fire, lunging off to the side to make sure her next shot wouldn't be as superficial.

The sudden charge left her with precious little time to try increasing the distance. Even as her feet tried to move back, she could feel the unevenness of the ground. But there was no time to turn away and it likely wouldn't have prevented the way the slight heel of her boots slipped into the crevice between two tree roots. And as she fell backwards, the gorilla's fang impaled her calf. Marisol barely managed to thwacked the giant in the face as she scrambled to move. She didn't notice the bite, didn't even feel the pain, not yet. Just knew that she had to get back and onto her feet as quickly as possible. "Chosen or not you do not -- " load, " -- hurt -- " aim, " -- my girlfriend!" Fire.
The arrow plunged into the gorilla's side, the shot so hard it knocked the beast off its feet and made it roll a few times, the butt of the shaft sticking out from what she could only assume was between its ribs. She could scarcely see the bolt, and yet, there was very little in the way of sympathy in her just then, darting over to Marisol to stand half in front of her, half at her side. "Are you okay?" she asked softly, anger keeping the fear from darkening her otherwise bright stare, the likes of which would not move from their query. If it charged again, Rose would make sure to take the hit while the dancer recovered.

"I'm fine, as long as you're here," she reassured Rose with a smile. It took little effort to climb back to her feet as she stood though she paused momentarily to press a quick kiss to the siren's cheek. Cas was going to be terribly upset to have missed out on so many perceived favors, once they found him. Turning her attention to the gorilla, which seemed unsteady, she flicked her whip. The crack as it connected with the creature's chest made her wonder just how much damage the leather could do--at the very least it hurt like hell. "I don't think it'll last much longer," she confided as it seemed to have trouble focusing on them though they stood together and still. The kiss seemed to mollify and abate some of the songstress' self-righteous fury, her own lips pursing tight as she watched the beast falter. They weren't without their own wounds from the exchange, but Marisol was right -- the turned Chosen was seeming to calm down, or at least, show signs of being worn down.
Lowering her bow, she carefully tread over towards the tired creature, hearing the labored breaths, and gently, she played a gloved hand on its shoulder. The shudder was obvious; Rose glanced over to Marisol to confirm.

It was clear the gorilla was nearly spent and she followed in Rose's wake, whip at the ready should it decide to lash out. The eyes looked far more remorseful than angry or fearful. And in an offering of peace, she wrapped the whip around her waist, careful to slide it through the belt loops. "We don't want to hurt you," Marisol confirmed, "we just want to take you back so we can make you human again." She reached forward and placed her own hand against the former human's cheek. "Will you come with us?" Marisol's Health: 27 - 5 = 22 HP Gorilla's Health: 8 - (200% x 4) = 0 HP

"Look at that," she hummed softly. "You made a friend." Rose chuckled, pausing only long enough to glance down and pick up another Moly Flower, tucking it with the others as she moved to the opposite side of the gorilla. "Alright, friend. Let's go back." Blue eyes cast an apologetic glance at the bolts sticking out of the gorilla and the flayed pieces of fur and skin from the whip, but...they did what they had to do.
She looked beyond the gorilla to smile at Marisol, relieved, a light promise of a good close to the evening once they washed up. Or while they washed up. No counting out the possibilities!

"I have a strong magnet pull," Marisol teased as they began to lead the former human back towards camp. And as they moved her mind turned to the idea of a vacation. She was going to leave as soon as she was able to prevent being pulled on another mission when she had other things she wanted to do. They were making good progress as the tired gorilla seemed to be in its right -- potentially human -- mind. It continued to follow along but Marisol found herself feeling strange as she moved forward. The sting from the battle was almost overwhelming as sweat and a not-cool-enough breeze disturbed the wounds. It was only when a shock of pain stopped her that she paused. Bending down, she found there was a deep gash in the side of her calf. The blood flow was rather weak but the more she looked at it, the more she felt this was bad. Standing up, she turned towards the blonde and trying not to look as concerned as she was, promptly began to shake. "Rose?" the voice quivered as green eyes began to dart around. The transformation itself was relatively quick as the brunette shrunk. A quaking ball of fur swam in the flowy tank top as a fearful yowl swept up into the air. And then a head, only slightly larger than that of a domesticated cat, popped up, ears flat and eyes reflecting a fear that was too easy to understand. There was a moment, brief, where it seemed like the creature was considering-- A shot or perhaps a thud sounded in the distance, shattering the moment. The margay that had once been a woman bounded off into the surrounded swamp land, nothing but a tail disappearing into the brush. Rose... Marisol wanted to scream but all she could do was think of the need to hide. To find safety. Survive. 3: You are bitten during the attack, and are turned into an animal! Size is determined by your weapon: agile weapons become small animals, balanced become medium sized, and heavy become large.
