This is not a monster fight but a spar with any PC that has been turned into an animal. We suggest two Chosen per turned PC!

Turned PCs do damage based on their weapon weight. This means that base damage and bonuses match the standard weapons:

Balanced weapons, or weapons of a middling/average weight, do a base of 6 damage.
Agile weapons, or weapons that are small and light, do a base of 4 damage but give +1 to your hit roll.
Heavy weapons, or weapons that are big and heavy, do a base of 10 damage but give -1 to your hit roll.

However, in this case, PCs always attack first. Instead of rolling init, the class of your weapon is used to determine HP.

Turned PCs with Ranged weapons have 60HP.
Turned PCs with Melee weapons have 70HP.
Turned PCs with Defensive weapons have 80HP.

Once Turned PCs are brought down to 5HP or below, they can OOC choose to submit to capture -- aka, taken back to camp and kept safe until a solution to the problem can be found -- or run away, at which point they escape the thread and recover all HP for their next battle. Either way, all parties who participate in the thread get standard Spar XP: 10XP for completing the spar, and an additional 10XP if they hit 800 words.

Until PCs have been captured, they cannot participate in any kind of thread except this one. After capture, they can do PRPs or battles with other players, but still cannot speak.

The remains of the tee shirt, jeans, and boots were tattered across the ground between the group of kids, splatters of blood across them and a slight trail leading away from the group as a black wolf darted from the mess. A silver band around the wolf's neck, an emblem with a moon engraved upon it hanging from it as the creature ran in a blind panic into the bayou, trying to find safety from the restraints, from the panic, and the pain.

The emblem of Artemis clinked against the silver band, muffled by the thick fur of the wolf that maneuvered through the trees and underbrush. Panting heavily, the creature came to a slow stop, nose twitching as it sniffed the ground. The black wolf shook, causing the charm to clink louder against the band. The sound made the wolf jerk, and with a snarl, a back paw was raised and claws scratched against the band, trying to push it off. The band wasn't wide enough to allow it to move through the fur, staying stubbornly in place.

A whimper of defeat, and the wolf sniffed the air again. Ears twitched, mind whirled. The scent of those people lingered on the wolf's fur, a gut-twisting scent that made the beast snarl anew before continuing on at a brisk pace. Distance. Distance from this place. Distance from this bad place. Nothing made sense to her. The scents felt wrong, the sounds harsh to her ears. The world looked wrong.

Unease made the wolf pick up the pace, a jittery walk turning into a nervous trot. Her ears perked forward, tail up, panting. Nervous energy raced through her, and she couldn't remain still. Go. Go away. Where? Not here, was the only answer she had. She snapped at the empty air, and let out a lone howl. The notes hung in the air between the branches as the wolf continued on, only knowing she needed to get away. Find safety... and that definitely could only be as far from those people who had trapped her as she could get herself.

Misha chirruped in annoyance as she skidded to a halt just beside the pile of torn clothing. She looked up in time to see a few dark-garbed teenagers running off in the distance, fast disappearing around a corner, and growled menacingly. The hair along her back rippled and her tail fluffed with anger and threat. She suddenly wanted to bite something. Bite it really hard, too. Of course, she would probably end up tasting Hot Topic and despair.

Calming herself by force, she lowered her head and used her muzzle to poke around at the shredded fabric. She sniffed. Familiar smells, someone she knew. She could not place it but... The cut of the shirt made her pause and her golden eyes go huge. Tara. Oh, god, Tara! She whined, loud and long, hoping to get those who had come to the town with her to get back to her ASAP.

Questioning the teenagers hadn't gone too especially well, but that was to be expected. Brian walked with Misha and Beth as if there was nothing strange about following a wildcat through the town, and he was so determined to pretend it wasn't that he nearly missed Misha's little churr. It was a sound he hadn't really heard from her before.

"Wh--?" but before he could finish, he saw it. A pile of clothing had been dropped on the street. Dread filled his chest. That only meant one thing to him. How would someone have turned in the town, though? As far as he knew, all of the transformation had been done in the woods.

Someone in town knew. Someone in town was changing people. Could it really be those stupid kids?

It struck him then that the clothes were familiar... really familiar. His own eyes widened. "I think they have Tara." No, no, not they had her. "I mean, I think she may be in trouble." Not that Beth necessarily knew who Tara was. He hadn't had any idea himself before today.

"Do you think you can find her?" Brian asked the cat beside him. Suddenly the charade of normalcy was less important. Yes-or-no questions had also been going well thus far.

Beth wandered after Brian and Misha, the glassiness of her eyes somewhat displaying how absent her mind was. She stopped automatically when Brian did, but didn't really comprehend the scene--until Brian's voice raised in tension. Then she blinked, returning to her surroundings and the dreadful reality of transforming people. Which it looked like they found evidence of. She gasped, placing her hand on her chest. "Oh no!" She didn't know Tara, but Brian did and that was enough for Beth. Though she didn't relish the thought of going into combat, she was starting to be comfortable with the idea that they were meant to be saving people, even on of their own. Tom had gone down even without her using her whip. Perhaps Tara could be persuaded as well.

The young Artemis woman had a poor time trying to get any information out of the locals. She could only imagine that they didn't know what to do with a city girl like her, these backwater yokels who probably have never been outside of their little towns. A few of the loser goth teenagers in town even jostled Izzy as she turned around a building corner, smacking her in the shoulder as they hightailed it away.

"Rude!" Izzy yelled after them. She had thought they might fight her - she was kinda itching for it - but they slunk away without looking back at her. Izzy glared after them for as long as they remained in sight, and then downed about half of the Gatorade she bought earlier, crumpling a bit of the bottle in her grip. As she calmed down, she realized she could hear people talking around the corner, where the little shits had run from a few minutes ago.

They were people from camp! She didn't know them, but she could tell that much. Izzy jammed the rest of her water bottle in the pocket of her athletic jacket, and trotted to catch up. "Hey!" Izzy called out. "Did something happen over here?" She then caught a glimpse of clothing on the ground, and shut up fast and closed the distance as quickly as she could.

Character Name: Izzy Sandoval
Brief description of character: Izzy lives to be outrageous - she is a PhD astrophysics student who revels in her party-girl persona and in-your-face feminism. Izzy's core strengths include her sharp perception and intelligence, but her weaknesses include poor teamwork and her pride.

Misha nodded fervently. She did not recognize the newcomer in particular but she knew Izzy was another Chosen and that was enough for her. If Tara had turned, they needed to find her fast before she got too far away. Misha remembered the fear and confusion that had clouded her mind. If Tara was in the same state, who knew what kind of trouble she could find? Worse yet, if she had turned into something as outlandish as Chris the Gator or Griffin the Rhino, what was to stop the townspeople from getting out the shotguns?

Stepping forward, she gave Izzy's hand a quick nudge with her head. Then she moved to Brian and grabbed the hem of his shirt with her teeth. She gave a quick tug. The expression in her eyes when she looked up at him pleaded for speed. She took a step towards the edge of town. The swamp. Tara.

"One of the Chosen was turned. Misha thinks she can find her," Brian said to the newcomer. At this moment it didn't matter who she was so much as that she had a weapon and was liable to be Chosen herself.

All of those special cat senses were definitely going to work for them in this case. At least he hoped they were. It might take a long time to track down whatever she had become otherwise. That howl might have been an indicator.

"Yeah, I'm coming," he said, "Lead the way." He turned to the others then: "Come on!" and began after Misha the Cat.

Beth looked at Brian and Misha, racing off to follow Tara, and their new companion, wondering who to follow. So she compromised. "Hi, I'm Beth!" She chirped, giving a wave instead of a outstretched arm to shake. Then she set off after her friends at a slower pace that had everything to do with letting their new friend catch up and not because she was worried about snapping her heels by running full tilt.

The wolf kept a steady pace through the forest, ears twitching to and fro, nose sniffing at the air. Trying to keep a watch for those people... the ones that trapped her, hurt her. She had only the mind to run further into the woods, hide herself among the trees and underbrush, lose her trail among the waters of the bayou and vanish.

She'd yet to cross that water though. Her paws still hit ground, scent and sound a trail right to her. A trail that had been picked up, had been followed despite her intent. The wolf's ears swiveled, head turning towards new sounds that didn't match up to the echoes of the forest. More footsteps, strange scents. Her ears pinned back against her skull as one aspect of the scents became clear to her: humans.

The need to run mixed with fear of being contained again, of being hurt and pinned down by the grabbing and clawing hands. Bloomed into a heat through the wolf's body, the need to run shifting into a need to fight--for safety, for the chance to get away.

Silver emblem against silver band around the wolf's throat, the faintest tink... tink.... tink.... sound as the wolf began to move around the trees and underbrush. The maneuver brought the beast closer to the group of humans there in the forest that had followed her trail.

Blue eyes were bright as a snarl bared the wolf's teeth, head low, tail high, and fur along her neck and back bristled. She howled, near the group of humans--and one feline. A scent that was almost smothered by the scent of humans, but there nonetheless. A last warning before the wolf lunged.

Teeth snapped towards the large feline, the closest one of the group. The one whom had, unknown to the wolf, lead the group right to her.

Misha felt the wolf slam into her and yowled. That hurt! She managed to twist and turn and avoid any direct contact with the snapping teeth but the grazes she got stung more than a little. Without thinking, she lashed out and felt her claws just barely snag on some fur.

Then silver at the wolf's throat caught her attention and she drew back in a rush, almost falling over her feet. Grace momentarily gone, she gaped. It was Tara. Oh, just perfect. Tara was a big, flipping wolf now!

Like a neon tornado, Izzy leapt out of the bushes behind Misha at a full sprint, and put herself between the wolf and the cat. Emboldened by a new hunt, and, honestly, a bit of the thrill that comes with a bit of fear, Izzy took a great, two-armed swipe at the wolf, whacking it hard along its side and making some distance for Misha.

She remembered who Tara was now. She was the shy-seeming girl who was in Olivia's group, and Izzy was surprised to see her now as a snarling wolf. Very interesting. Maybe there was a beast within the girl that just needed to be properly nurtured. Izzy would keep that in mind for later, should she survive all this.

"Beth!" Izzy yelled over her shoulder. She was a runner, after all, and couldn't help but race ahead of the other two when she realized the fight had started. "Other Dude! We're here!"

Damage: 12

Being the only male in the group, Brian realized quickly that he was "other dude." He had been shortly behind Misha and seen the wolf lunge from the brush to attack. Were it not for the emblem still around Tara the Wolf's neck he may never have recognized her as a transformed Chosen. Black wolves had to live around here, didn't they? It seemed like the perfect place for them.

"Brian," he called to the new girl whose name he also did not know. There was no time for more polite formalities. He nocked an arrow and sent it flying at the now-aggressive black beast and watched it whiz by Tara's head and smack her in the shoulder. It wasn't the most effective, but it'd do. At least it wasn't just two people this time.

Beth squealed in surprise. She was never quite ready when the action went down. Would she ever be used to springing into the fray on instinct? Would she be able to stop her heart from jumping into her throat?

Despite her conviction that she didn't want to hurt the transformed people, she found herself attacking at every opportunity, and this was no exception. She knew that if she was serious about what she said, she would defend those who attacked rather than whipping out her weapon and whaling on the offending animal. Person. But instinct was a hard thing to overcome.

Thus, her heart wasn't in it when she attacked, but attack she did.

She'd barely known Tom. She didn't know Tara. She could excuse herself, when it came down to it.

Briiva had been in the woods, on the lookout for any more humans turned animals, when she heard something of a fight going on not far away from her. While trying her best to be stealthy (which she was admittedly quite poor at) she moved as quickly as she dared, towards the sound of struggle. There she saw a group of chosen gathered around a beautiful wolf. Briiva watched for a bit, trying to piece together who was who. She knew that the cat was Misha and Beth, of course, was still Beth. The other two she wasn't so sure about, though Briiva did have a slight recognition of Izzey as the impatient one who hadn't even tried to help poor Arthur when they first found him.

She wasn't sure who the wolf was, but she could be fairly certain that they thought it was a chosen, seeing at there were so many for one animal. Reluctantly raising her bow, Briiva took aim at the creature, being careful not to aim anywhere vital. If it was a chosen, they just needed to bring them back to their senses. Alas, it would seem that in trying to not hit anything important to the wolf, Briiva had succeeded at hitting nothing at all, but the ground. She sighed; That had been happening a lot lately. At this point, Briiva had almost expected it. Maybe not touching her flask had been a bad idea after all.

Character Name: Brianna Pavlovich
Brief description of character: Headstrong and impulsive, Briiva is an excitable, over zealous ball of energy that can explode at the slightest provocation. While friendly and always ready to help out, she has a flair for the dramatic and will get carried away more often than not.
