As you approach, you notice something strange: some shredded fabric still clinging around one foot, or around its neck, like the remnants of some long-destroyed clothing.
At this point, it occurs to you that this might be a transformed human being. maybe it's even one of you. And you must capture it.
Except it doesn't seem to want to be captured. Your approach spooks it, and it attacks you in blind fear.

Pacing the perimeter of the camp only brought so much relief, Misha thought as she completed yet another loop. She had no idea if it was a result of her new temporary body or simply the frustrated energy of being denied the chance to be useful to the others. She could not talk so she could not investigate properly. She felt too small and unsure to go out alone into the surrounding swamp. Plus she did not trust her sense of direction.
She still wanted to do something. Something real.
Suddenly, Misha spotted Briiva and her furry little shadow Arthur. It gave her an idea. Ears up and tail swinging, she trotted over to her friend and nudged her hand. Then she delicately set her teeth in a loose fold of Briiva's pants and tugged once. Releasing Briiva, Misha moved towards the woods and looked over her shoulder expectantly. A distant screeching sound drifted to them. She looked to the woods and then back to Briiva.
Briiva at first froze at the sight of Misha, before remembering seeing her friend change into the large, slightly intimidating cat that she currently was. As soon as recognition hit her however, Briiva grinned wide. "Misha! You look so good! And fierce!" She stooped to her knees for a moment to hug her friend and provide her newly feline characteristics with a gentle chin scratch with accompanied nuzzles.
Briiva's eyes followed Misha's at the screech, and at her friends expectant glance she nodded. "We need to make sure they are okay, at the very least!"

Pleased that Briiva picked up on the cue, Misha nodded back and then turned on her heels and trotted into the woods. She kept her pace even but swift and counted on Briiva to keep up with her. Every now and then she would check over her shoulder, give a feline grin, and carry on.
Finally, she paused and lifted her head, sniffing. The screech sounded again, closer. The hair along Misha's back raised and she ducked her head in preparation for a crouch. Backing up slightly, she stopped Briiva from going further with her own body. A low growl emerged from her.
There was something close and it was angry and smelled dangerous.
A spitting bundle of fur suddenly burst through the nearby brush and stumbled to a halt in front of them. Tufted ears and wild eyes and claws. A bobcat!
Briiva took special care of her friends posture, getting somewhat used to reading animal body gestures, thanks to Arthur. And Misha's aggressive change, she drew her bow and strung it quickly, so she was mostly prepared when the creature burst from the trees.
Seeing the cardigan, her heart sunk a little. She had already fought another suspected chosen creature and even without dealing the last blow it had been stressful enough. She saw the cardigan and frowned, calling out to her catty ally.
"Be Careful! this poor thing might have been human at one point!"
She drew her arrow and released, the weapon finding it's purchase easily, but avoiding anything of substance. Briiva grit her teeth: for all this Chosen talk, the weapons they had been instructed to use left much to be desired. The blow that the bobcat was expected, but not easily avoided. Briiva tried to deflect the creatures claws as best as she could, but dealing with an animal was much different from the spar she and Misha had used for practice. and even that had ended badly for Briiva.
"Alright, Misha, hun! Your turn, pretty kitty~" She flashed a trusting grin at her fellow Serval cat Misha.

With a snarl risen from the injury dealt to Briiva, Misha moved forward and took a swipe at the bobcat. She did not want to connect too hard but she also didn't feel too kindly towards the other unfortunate. Being pissed off and disoriented was one thing; she had that in spades when she first turned and had been fortunate to have friends pull her back from that ledge. This was outright aggression, though.
Lucky for her conscience, karma intervened and her blow barely landed on the bobcat. A bit of fur and another tear to the cardigan. The other cat turned in fury and swung its own claws at Misha. She hissed at the scratch and retreated a few steps.
Briiva did her best to aim with Misha attacking the cat, but with them fighting so closely together, it was difficult indeed. A last moment decision made the arrow shoot off, barely missing both cats as it disappeared into the forest. Briiva held up her arms to fend off the worst of the bobcat's retaliation as she backed up, taking a new position.

Goddammit, what was wrong with her? Misha snarled in frustration as her next swipe went wide once more. How could she go from snatching a fully panicked owl straight out of the sky to missing a fairly sizable, spitting furball? She darted to the right in an attempt to miss out on the return blow, catching it just barely on her shoulder. She hissed, hackles rising. Then she glanced back toward Briiva and somehow managed to look incredibly annoyed and contrite at the same time.
Briiva's next arrow flew off into the woods harmlessly. Briiva was a little frustrated herself, but did her best not to show. Instead she took a deep breath so she could focus on maybe not missing next time.

When the bobcat snarled and started in Briiva's direction, Misha echoed the noise in her own strange chirping manner and threw herself between them. She still remembered to keep her claws in, of course, but the weight of the angry bobcat barreling into her caused an instinctive response to the pain. She snapped back and tasted fur in her teeth. Ugh! Batting the other cat away, Misha squirmed away and retreated to catch her breath again.
Briiva fired again, the arrow sinking into the creatures flank this time. Briiva hissed as it's claws swiped back, but she was doing alright for the time being. At least this time she hadn't missed. She carefully flanked the creature to make sure that she would miss and hit her friend instead.

Cheered and encouraged by the hit Briiva had landed, Misha skidded to a halt and spun in place. She braced herself a bit, crouched down, and then launched herself at the bobcat. A twist to her motion enabled her to catch at the turned Chosen's shoulders and neck and the two tumbled over each other a distance until they abruptly parted. Misha bounded to her feet with a snarl that was part pleased and part pained.
Briiva grunted as the cat swiped at her, knocking her bow upwards and sending the arrow uselessly into the sky. "Sorry Misha, I'm just apparently s**t at hunting, or something!" She smiled through gritted teeth, knowing that if she let herself be tilted about this, she wouldn't hit anything the rest of the time she was here.
