Violante Lillantine's NEWTs (Taken Only)
Charms: Vio had been almost looking forward to this exam; not because she had any particular obsession with Charms, although she had always enjoyed the class, but because she expected it to be fairly easy (the Charms OWL had been almost laughably simple, so long as you had actually paid attention at some point or another), and due to that fact she had not stressed herself out worrying about studying too much for it. Of course, if the exam turned out to be horrifically difficult she'd look like a fool, but Vio was used to things going her way in the end. She entered the exam room and found herself confronted by a wall of fire; the examiner lingered off on the sidelines, obviously watching to see what she would do to get past this obstacle. Glancing down at the list of spells in her wand-free hand, she rolled her eyes. Really? The list actually said 'the flame-freezing charm'. And here she was, looking at flames. "Flamma frigus," she cast simply, shaking her head a little in a mixture of exasperation and amusement, and confidently strolled through the flaming doorway and into the next 'stage'. She winced at the shrill shrieking, which caught her momentarily off guard, until she realized the source of the noise. Jarvies weren't particularly intimidating to begin with, unless you had sensitive ears, and this one was caged, at that. "Frigid b***h!", it screeched at her. "You blonde piece of-," Vio, unimpressed, having heard far worse from Vander over the years, flicked her wand at the creature. "Silencio." It immediately went mute, mouth moving but no words coming out. It reminded her of her uncle Callius when he was particularly enraged. Suppressing a snort of laughter, she made her way towards the exit, which was blocked by a massive boulder. She wondered how the examiners had gotten it in- had they simply enlarged a small rock? No matter. "Wingardium leviosa." The people who wrote the exams had to be obsessed with the levitation charm, she decided, although she had to admit it was probably one of the most useful charms invented, since charms did tend to get a reputation of being silly, or unnecessary 'light' spells. With the boulder out of the way she moved onto the last stage, looked to the egg from the picture, cast a murmured colour-change charm, turning the egg bright red and continued on her merry way, handing the spells list back to the examiner as she left.
DADA: Vio had never been particularly bad with Defense; in fact she'd always been rather good, but it was still something she knew she needed to actively work at in order to ensure she didn't make any foolish mistakes or slip-ups, especially when it came to the exam. But she was confident that she was as prepared as she could be, and unless something disastrous occurred, didn't think she'd bomb the test. She stepped up to the thirty foot mark at the first station, pointing her wand level at the dummy. "Expelliarmus!" the blonde snapped, and the dummy's wand flew out of it's 'hand' and scattered across the floor, ending up at her feet. At the second station she hid a smirk at the dummy's slightly manic grin. "Confundo!" The smile slipped away as if washed off like paint, turning to a confused frown. The next dummy was frowning already, which she took to be a sign that something was about to happen, and as she assumed a more defensive position it moved suddenly, obviously casting a spell. "Protego!" Vio cried out, and her shield blocked the mannequin's charm. The dummy at the fourth station was moving about like a carnival game, and she took a moment to make sure she was following it with her eyes and focused before casting her stupefying charm. It immediately toppled over. The last station was a trembling cabinet; Vio had assumed a boggart would be in the exam at some point, and took a moment, exhaling slowly. She'd done this before, and as far as she knew had not developed any crippling new fears since her OWL. She stepped forward, and the cabinet doors flew open, a dark shape emerging. Then it shifted like mist, assuming figures. She blinked. Boggart!Cyrus slowly straightened up, wiping his bloody hands on his trouser legs like a primary student after arts and crafts. Before him was a prone body; Vio recognized it was Anti by the pool of dark hair spread out around the nearly unrecognizable, badly mutilated face. This, ironically, allowed her to calm herself slightly- Anti no longer had long hair. She'd cut it. The boggart was sloppy. None of this would ever be real. "We were just playing hide-and-seek," Boggart!Cyrus said, his expression one of mild triumph usually reserved for winning a board game, or a spelling bee. "I won." He nudged the limp body with his shoe passively, as if almost hoping it might move. "Don't blame yourself- some people are just born unlucky, you know? Not like us." He grinned, and it sent a sincere wave of darkly amused revulsion through Vio that forced the spell out before she had even expected to cast it- because the idea of her cousin thinking they had anything in common was truly laughable. "Ridikulus!" The boggart versions of her cousins were gone, replaced with much smaller puppets on strings. The limp Anti puppet struggled to its feet and kicked the Cyrus puppet; he went flying. Vio laughed and laughed, and nearly started to cry.
Transfiguration: Despite her talent for the subject, Vio had been very wary about the Transfiguration NEWT; the class itself was notorious for being exceptionally difficult for most students, especially after the OWL, and her worst fear was doing poorly at the last minute, after having done so well over the course of the last seven years. However, when she walked into the testing room, she found herself confronted with what was, in theory, a fairly basic request: transfigure the lower half of her body. However, in practice it was much more daunting. It wasn't just her grade she had to worry about if she messed this up; the Slytherin rather enjoyed having full use of her legs. She was sure the examiner would step in if things did go terribly wrong, but it wasn't a very comforting thought. Preferences for magical creatures flew out the window- what would be the simplest one for her to do, that was the easiest to pull off? A mermaid tail, she decided, seemed to pose the least risk and also be the most streamlined of a process. "I'll be tranfiguring my legs into a merperson tail," she announced calmly, and trying not to look apprehensive, sat down awkwardly on the floor, not wanting to topple over and give herself a concussion on top of everything else during the process. She carefully cast the spell, keeping her legs firmly together, and watched as scales first began to ripple down them as the skin underneath shifted. Bones morphed, and the two legs became one tail, a fin emerging at the end. After roughly five or so minutes Vio curiously flipped her newfound tail on the floor, thinking she'd be most relieved when she got to un-transfigure it.
Wizard Law: Vio had no intentions of becoming a lawyer, but she had occasionally thought about what it might be like to sit on the Wizengamot, and if she wanted any sort of administrative position in the Ministry, she knew it was extremely important to know every inch of their world's laws. Still, that didn't mean she necessarily enjoyed playing lawyer. By the end of this her throat would be aching, she was certain of it, due to the sheer amount of speaking she'd end up doing. With a small sigh she sat down and started to take quick notes on the information provided... after she'd chosen what case she wanted to take, anyways. Finally she stood back up, adjusting the hem of her blouse, and stared rather sardonically at the examiner posing as 'the court'. "Ladies and gentleman of the court... although there seems to be only one of you... I am here today on behalf of my client, a Miss Laura Nelson, who is being charged, rather short-sightedly, I must admit, with assault. This is ridiculous, your Honor, if I may speak plainly. Aside from the lack of witnesses to actually see Miss Nelson's supposed 'attack on Mr. Allston- if you can even call it that, as the responding officers of the law have stated that his injuries were, and I quote 'very minimal'- my client has a very clear and very obvious defense against this charge, and that is quite possibly the most reasonable defense of all: protection of herself. This falls under reasonable force, in fact. Now, the questions the prosecutors will ask this court are just two; was the use of force necessary in these circumstances, and was the force used reasonable for these circumstances. Allow me to lay out the facts for you. Miss Nelson goes out with friends, and begins to feel faint due to the sheer amount of people- and the considerable heat inside the club, as this was a hot July night, as we all know. She exits through a side door to regain her bearings and have a cigarette. At this point she is approached by a clearly intoxicated Mr. Allston, who proceeds to harass her, and then finally make physical contact, attempting to pull her away first by the arm, then by the neck. In response to this- which constitutes assault in and of itself, despite what Mr. Allston's legal team says- Miss Nelson began to fight back and call for help, getting the attention of a passing pedestrian, who called the police to the scene. Was Miss Nelson's use of force necessary? She was a young woman alone on a dark side street with a threatening man twice her size, who first verbally intimidated her, and then laid hands on her in a violent manner. Was the force she used reasonable? Mr. Allston had to endure, let's see... minor bruising to the legs from her kicking at him, a slightly swollen cheek from an elbow to the face, and several scratches on his face and neck. His claim that these injuries left any lasting trauma is utterly absurd. Miss Nelson is 5'1" and barely 100 pounds- there is no way she could have seriously injured him in the first place, unless she has been hiding a black belt in martial arts this entire time. She was also slightly intoxicated herself at the time, albeit to a far lesser extent than her attacker. That said attacker is still trying to paint himself as the victim of this is absurd. He was not making polite conversation or asking for her phone number, he was attempting an assault of his own, which could have left Miss Nelson seriously injured or dead. This case is a joke, I'm requesting these charges be thrown out of court, and that Mr. Allston be held responsible for a significant portion of my client's legal fees, as he certainly has the wealth and means to do so, and is lucky he's not being prosecuted himself. Thank you."

Antigone Lillantine's NEWTs (Taken Only)
Astronomy: Anti had never been particularly artistic; she'd assumed the NEWT would be something like labeling a massive sky chart, not making a giant diorama. However, it couldn't be that hard to roll clay into balls of varying sizes, right? Rolling up her blouse sleeves, the Ravenclaw got down to work. The work wasn't really that difficult; by now she knew where everything essential in the solar system was, and the only issue was making sure it was very clear which planet was which. Uranus and Neptune in particular she didn't want getting confused. She tried to add as many details as possible, and even made the small moons as well, before arranging them the way they ought to be and levitating everything. The planets hovered around the sun, and she almost felt as though soft music should be playing, before she got the attention of the examiner and rattled off everything and where it was located.
Herbology: Anti had always enjoyed Herbology, but that didn't mean she was about to enjoy working with an extremely dangerous plant. However she hadn't come this far in the course to fail now, so she pulled on the dragonhide gloves and went to work, loppers in hand. She assumed it was expected they at least be injured during this, given the potions available, but at this point she thought she'd still rather face a potentially deadly plant than her family. At least the plant didn't talk. To collect the pods she had to make several trips, but to her relief managed to come out with only a few scratches by the time she had the pods. Giving the examiner a deathly stare, as compared to the other NEWTs this one seemed purposefully difficult, she extracted the tubers, leaving them in the bowls. The plant certainly wasn't any worse for the wear.
History of Magic: Anti entered the room a little surprised to find her task so simple. All of the portraits were of exceptionally famous wizards- it'd be hard to find a witch or wizard, at least any raised in a magical household, who didn't know their names. "Albus Dumbledore," she began, "Is famous for defeating the dark wizard Grindelwald and for discovering 12 uses for dragon blood." Onto the next one. "Harry Potter is famous for being the only known person to survive the Killing Curse and for his defeat of the dark wizard Voldemort." And the next. "Newt Scamander is famous for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, as well as several major laws concerning magical creatures, such as the ban on experimental breeding." And finally... "Beedle the Bard is famous for his very popular tales, and for his support of unity and equality between wizards and muggles."
Alchemy: Anti was a bit disappointed that the whole thing seemed entirely reliant on her Potions skills, but she supposed it could have been far worse, given how complex a subject Alchemy was. She set about boiling the gallon of water, and combined the two cups of pomegranate juice and the powdered dragon horn in another basin, stirring the solution gently. Five minutes later she added the half fluid ounce of Erumpent fluid to the juice and powder mixture, and carefully did so eleven times. Next the whole thing was added to the cauldron; she let it boil for five minutes, then added another two cups of pomegranate juice. She added in the cup of doxy eggs, and stirred counterclockwise until they sunk to the bottom. After combining the beetle eyes and murtlap essence she added that into the cauldron, then the quarter gallon of mucus, stirring in opposite directions before the mixture turned lilac. She severed the fish eye with a quick severing charm and dropped in one half at a time, stirred in the two teaspoons of venom, and then added the final lovage and ginger roots essence. Pink smoke began to billow from the cauldron, and Anti stirred it with her wand until it turned indigo and began to cool and solidify into more of a paste. She scraped some into a vial and threw it against the opposite wall. A tidal wave of mist swept across the room. Water it was then.
Arithmancy: A (1) + L (3) + B (2) + U (3) + S (1) + D (4) + U (3) + M (4) + B (2) + L (3) + E (5) + D (4) + O (6) + R (9) + E (5) = 55, 5+5=10, 1+0=1 Character Number: 1 A (1) + U (3) + U (3) + E (5) + O (6) + E (5) =23, 2+2=5 Heart Number: 5 L (3) + B (2) + S (1) + D (4) + M (4) + B (2) + L (3) + D (4) + R (9) = 32, 2+3=5 Social Number: 5 H ( cool + A (1) + R (9) + R (9) + Y (7) + P (7) + O (6) + T (2) + T (2) + E (5) + R (9) = 65, 6+5=11, 1+1=2 Character Number: 2 A (1) + O (6) + E(5) = 12, 1+2=3 Heart Number: 3 H ( cool + R (9) + R (9) + Y (7) + P (7) + T (2) + T (2) + R (9) = 53, 5+3=8 Social Number: 8 C (3) + O (6) + R (9) + N (5) + E (5) + L (3) + I (9) + U (3) + S (1) + F (6) + U (3) + D (4) + G (7) + E (5) = 69, 6+9=15, 1+5=6 Character Number: 6 O (6) + E (5) + I (9) + U (3) + U (3) + E (5) = 31, 3+1=4 Heart Number: 4 C (3) + R (9) + N (5) + L (3) + S (1) + F (6) + D (4) + G (7) = 38, 3+8=11, 1+1=2 Social Number: 2
Divination: The first person Anti sat down in front of was a red-haired woman in her late twenties or early thirties, thin and wiry with hair dyed (or magically influenced) a bright cherry red. She looked extremely skeptical of the whole thing. Deciding she might as well go big, she went for a Celtic Cross spread, shuffling the deck provided before carefully laying out ten cards. She lifted the first card in the center of the 'cross'. "The hermit," she began slowly. "He is both helping and hindering you. "Your own thoughts and council are your best comfort, and you understand yourself far better than others understand you. But your self-imposed isolation holds you back. You withdraw from others constantly. You're lonely, no matter how much you deny it." The Ravenclaw looked to the bottom card. "The star. This is your future. Depending on how you continue down your path, you will either find yourself hopeful and at peace with yourself and others, and inspired and renewed. Or you'll find yourself discouraged and cynical." She shrugged, picking up a card on the left side. "Temperance. Your past. You felt unbalanced and lost growing up. You surrounded yourself with other things, other people, to forget how confused you felt." Next, the card on the left. "The tower. This could be your future as well. Something drastic may be about to happen, or might almost happen. It could be anything that involves a massive upheaval or change. Alternatively, it could be something you're hoping to avoid." Then the card on the top. "The hierophant, reversed. This represents your conscious mind. You think of yourself as restricted, or challenging restrictions. You dislike conformity, any sense of status quo or tradition. And here," she moved her hand to the bottom card, "Is the subconscious mind. Death, also reversed. Despite what you think of yourself as, you are more resistant to any change than you know. You hate letting go and moving on." Finally she moved onto the four cards in a vertical line, going from the bottom up. "The lovers reversed. This is what you think of yourself. Out of order- still unbalanced, not sure what you believe in or if you act in accordance to your values. The wheel of fortune, reversed. Others see you as out of control, unfortunate, plagued by negativity. The high priestess. You hope you are headed in the right direction in life, that you can trust yourself. But you fear that you can't. The fool. Your outcome. A new beginning is headed your way, one where you can finally be yourself." The second person was an older man with blond hair half faded to white. He was sitting very formally, hands folded in front of him, blue eyes downcast. Anti gazed into the crystal ball between them. After a few moments she could make out three distinct symbols. "There's an open umbrella. You're going to find out something very useful to you. And a tree, growing strong. Things are going to improve. And a sheep. Good luck is headed your way." The third person was an elderly man with a gray ponytail, and an amused look on his face, although he said nothing. Anti carefully examined the tea leaves, coming up with just two symbols. "There's an urn... and some tiny feathers scattered around it. An urn indicates a coming illness... and little feathers mean you'll face something you fear, but with courage." The fourth person was a woman who looked around forty, with a curvy build and a warm smile. Anti immediately noted that the woman had 'earth hands'; a broad palm and fingers, with calloused, thick skin, and darker color. This meant fewer, deeper lines. Anti took the woman's hand in her own. After almost a minute of silence, she looked up. "You have a good heart, and you're very much in love at the moment. You think, then act right away, though it doesn't always go in your favor. You've had a lot of upheavals in your life, but you continue to move through them, without stopping." The fifth person was a thin, pinch-faced older woman, with very pale, papery skin. Anti put the candle down between them and lit it, waiting for the flame to take hold before she began to stare into it. "All I see is a... a lizard," she said finally. "This usually signifies a misfortune approaching. It could be anything from a disagreement to a an illness."

Cyrus Lillantine's OWLs (Taken Only)
Charms: Cyrus paused to stare at the examiner, as if to inquire whether or not they were serious, before laughing and swishing and flicking his wand. "Wingardium leviosa!" The feather before him floated up towards the rafters.
DADA: Cyrus was not very concerned as he approached the cabinet; his fear was hardly horrifying or uncommon, so he was fairly sure he'd be able to handle this. The cupboard doors burst open, a dark shape materializing before him; it was himself, slowly slumping to the floor, blood trickling out of his mouth, the expression on his face one of shock, almost indignation. He rocked back half a step warily before a grin broke across his face. "Riddikulus!" The body turned into a marionette, jerked back up its strings at the last moment, bobbing in the air. The blond broke into snickers that echoed throughout the room, leaving the examiner looking slightly perplexed.
Healing: Cyrus didn't waste any time; he applied the ointment and wrapped the wound, making sure the bandages weren't about to fall off, and that he hadn't put on too much or too little of the ointment. It seemed a bit much for a bad scrape on an elbow, but he supposed they wanted to make sure they all at least knew how not to die of infection.
Muggle Studies: Truth be told, Cy had never seen a toaster before, or, at least not in real life. But he'd seen pictures of it and other things like it in the textbook, and he did remember how it worked. He put in the bread, pulled the lever, waited for it to pop out, and put one slice on a plate, taking a bite out of the other. He swallowed. "Muggles use it to toast their bread... get it?"
Wandless Magic: Finally, an actually challenging practical. "Accio book," Cy said calmly, outstretching a hand, and a textbook flew into his hand. "Incendio," he snapped his fingers at the book, and it burst into flames. "Protego," he made a motion like he was drawing a circle and a shield wavered in front of him.

Diantha Warlow's OWLs (Taken Only)
Astronomy: Jupiter, commonly referred to as the 'King of the Planets', is the largest planet in our solar system and the fifth planet from the sun. Its atmosphere is primarily composed of hydrogen and helium. The 'Great Red Spot' that can be seen on its surface is a massive storm, larger than Earth, which has been ongoing for hundreds of years. Jupiter has more than 50 moons, but its four largest, discovered by Galileo, are Io, Europa, Callisto, and Ganymede. It also has three very faint rings. Jupiter is named after the Roman god of sky and thunder; king of the heavens.
Charms: Di looked askance at the test instructor. Wasn't this a little too basic? The instructor, a visibly exasperated woman, motioned for her to get on with it. A bit primly, Di straightened her shoulders and raised her wand. "Wingardium leviosa!" she chanted, with a swish and a flick. The feather in front of her rose into the air easily.
DADA: Finally, a properly challenging practical portion. Di steeled herself, taking a few deep breaths, and reminded herself that she'd done this before and could do this again. This was one of her best subjects. The brunette approached the ominously rattling cupboard, and fought not to flinch back a bit as the door abruptly burst open. A massive spider picked its way out, clicking menacingly, and Di involuntarily took a few steps back, before gritting her teeth and raising her wand, fighting to face the creature straight on. "Ridikkulus!" The spider turned into a small papery version of itself, fighting to stand upright but tumbling over in the slightest shift of air. Di snorted, then outright chuckled at the little origami monster, which scurried back into the cupboard in outrage.
History of Magic: Rowena Ravenclaw left her diadem, said to grant wisdom to whoever wore it. Salazar Slytherin left his locket. Godric Gryffindor left his sword, which can only be wielded by a true Gryffindor. Helga Hufflepuff left behind her goblet.
Transfiguration: Di was certain the kittens were only there to break the will of the weaker students. They could really have used any small animal. No one would be cooing over a large rat. "Don't worry," she informed the mewling cat. "I'm very proficient." The test instructor rolled their eyes, covertly. "Evanesco!" The kitten vanished completely, before Di quickly brought it back. She gave it a brisk pet on the head before nodding to the instructor and taking her leave.
Arithmancy: D (4) + I (9) + A (1) + N (5) + T (2) + H ( cool + A (1) + W (5) + A (1) + R (9) + L (3) + O (6) + W (5) = 59, 5+9=14, 1+4=5, Character Number: 5, I (9) + A (1) + A (1) + A (1) + O (6) = 18, 1+8-9, Heart Number: 9, D (4) + N (5) + T (2) + H ( cool + W (5) + R (9) + L (3) + W (5) = 41, 4+1=5, Social Number: 5
Healing: Di was relieved the wound was a rather straight forward cut, and not oozing pus or anything like that. She wiped away the blood before applying the ointment, then carefully wrapping the wound in the bandages, making sure they weren't too tight or too loose.
Mythology: Salazar Slytherin disagreed with the other founders over the matter of allowing students of non-pureblooded lines to attend Hogwarts, as he felt anyone with familial ties to muggles, who had so long persecuted wizards, could not be trusted. Eventually he left the school over this feud, but not before creating a secret chamber in the bowels of the school, said to contain a monster that could only be controlled by Slytherin's true heir. The heir would use this monster to purge the school of those of non-pure blood. The Chamber was not opened until 1943, and this resulted in the death of one student, a young girl named Myrtle who now haunts the site of her murder. Fifty years later the Chamber was opened again, but thanks to the actions of Harry Potter and co, no one was killed and the monster was destroyed.
Wizard Law: Di cleared her throat. "My client is not guilty of a violation of the Statute for one simple reason: had they not violated said Statute, countless innocent lives would have been lost. The Statute is in place to keep our world separated from the muggle one. Were Muggles to become aware of the magical world, numerous disputes and clashes between two starkly different societies would immediately arise. However, the protection of civilians trumps the Statute. When muggle and magical lives are in danger and magic is the only way to protect them, magical law enforcement commonly sets aside the Statute in order to end the threat, and then obliviates those muggles who witnessed the magic or were affected by it. Mr. Hoffman was only acting in the best interest of those around him, and nothing any of the muggles saw could not be taken away with a simple memory charm. I'll say it again: my client is innocent."

Diantha Warlow NEWTs (Taken Only)
DADA: Di walked confidently towards the first dummy, wand raised, and quickly disarmed it from the thirty foot range. She successfully confounded the next dummy as well, leaving it looking rather distraught and confused, and shielded against the third dummy's charm with a triumphant smirk. Di stunned the final dummy, causing it to freeze and topple over with a dull thud, and stalked towards the cabinet. She'd faced boggarts before, and she could do it again. The cabinet creaked open ominously, and a veritable flood of spiders of various shapes and sizes poured out like a dark, thrashing liquid, scuttling towards Di, who resisted the urge to scramble backwards or panic as they neared her shoes. "Ridikkulus!" she snapped, and the spiders turned into brightly colored balls, rolling across the floor with a series of rattles. Di smiled in relief, then broke into giggles at how cheery they looked, before they rolled back into the cupboard in defeat.
History of Magic: Albus Dumbledore - Albus Dumbledore defeated the notorious dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald in one of the most famous and powerful duels of all time, and also discovered twelve uses for dragon blood.
Harry Potter- Harry Potter is the only known person to survive the Killing Curse (without the use of horcruxes or any sort of dark magic) and defeated the dark wizard Tom Riddle, famously known as Lord Voldemort, saving Hogwarts and the wizarding world in the process.
Newt Scamander - Newt Scamander wrote Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, helping to educate the magical world on how to properly interact with all manner of fantastic creatures, and he also created the Werewolf Registry for the Ministry of Magic.
Transfiguration: Di wasn't particularly fond of self-Transfiguration, but she knew she could do it without any serious issues. With a nod to the proctor, she announced her intention to give herself Hippogriff legs, and began the spell. It went a bit faster than she expected, and she was a bit unsteady, but when it was over she stood on the impressive front talons of a Hippogriff, below feathery, sinewed legs. They rasped against the stone floor when she wriggled her toes. She let the proctor examine them, then undid the spell, and departed, a bit shaky on her normal legs.
Wizard Law: Di was glad she had to do defense in this exam, since her intent was to become an advocate anyways. She took detailed notes on which case she'd be representing, and then approached the mock court, clearing her throat a little. "Ladies and gentlemen of the court. I am representing my client, Mr. Simon Parker, who is being charged with the theft of the dog in question, Venus, by his ex-girlfriend, Miss Aquino. Here we have evidence that the dog was purchased from a breeder in 2035 by Mr. Parker, shortly after he began seeing Miss Aquino. Her name does not appear on any of the documents related to the dog. While she claims to have brought the dog to the veterinarian on multiple occasions, there is no evidence that she ever paid for any of the dog's medical treatment. The dog is registered in a pet-finding service under Mr. Parker's name, not Miss Aquino. While Miss Aquino clearly has a great emotional attachment to the dog, that does not equate to ownership. When Mr. Parker and her went their separate ways, Mr. Parker had every right to take Venus with him. There was no theft here. These charges should be dropped, and the dog should be delivered into Mr. Parker's care immediately. Thank you, Your Honor."

Tiernan Yaxley's OWLs (Taken Only)
Astronomy: Neptune is known as the windiest planet. It is an 'ice giant' and was the first planet to be located via mathematical calculations, rather than through simply observing the night sky. Neptune's largest moon is called Triton. The planet is only visible through a telescope of some sort due to just how far away from Earth it is, being eighth from the sun. It only orbits the sun once every 165 years. Neptune is blue due to the methane in its atmosphere. Neptune has six known rings around it and 13 officially recognized moons. It is named after the Roman god of the sea.
Charms: "Miss Yaxley, please just perform the proper form for the charm-,"
"This is disgraceful," Tiernan said, examining her fingernails quite intently. "I'm going to draft a letter to your superiors. They want us to demonstrate a first year charm? How low do they think the average mental capability in this school is?"
"Miss Yaxley, I am not going to say it again-,"
"Wingardium leviosa," Tiernan said, peevishly, and floated the proctor's spectacles off their face and into the ceiling, then gracefully lowered them back down. "Tada."
DADA: Tiernan wrinkled her nose as she approached the rattling cupboard. It wasn't as if boggarts were popping out at people left and right. It was useful to know how to defeat them, but she didn't see why it was harped on so much. She supposed it was because it forced them to 'face their fears' and become more self-assured or some other nonsense. It just made everyone more afraid of boggarts than of their actual fears. Fear was useful. The door creaked open, and an old, decrepit version of herself tottered out, hair gone white and stringy, eyes pale and blind in a hollow, wrinkled face. "For the love of Morgana, I think I would age a bit more gracefully than that," said Tiernan a bit shakily, raising her wand. "Ridikkulus!" The old woman turned into a crawling, drooling baby version of herself, clutching a stuffed snake toy, and Tiernan was reduced to helpless giggles.

Esther Spencer's OWLs (Taken Only)
DADA: Esther warily approached the shuddering cupboard. She absolutely hated dealing with boggarts, who truly seemed like demons to her, but she was determined to do well on this exam. She flinched a little as the doors sprang open and a dark shape slithered out, taking the form of a massive serpent. Only it wasn't snakes Esther was afraid of. This one was different- its eyes glowed like red coals, and it spoke in tongues rather than hissed. She forced herself to stand her ground as it slithered towards her menacingly, wand raised high. "Ridikkulus!" The devilish serpent turned into a cheap rubber toy, one you'd find in the bargain bin at a corner store, and Essie broke out into giggles as it disappeared, rebuffed.
History of Magic: Godric Gryffindor left behind the Sword of Gryffindor (and the Sorting Hat). Salazar Slytherin left behind an engraved locket (and the Chamber of Secrets). Rowena Ravenclaw left behind her diadem. Helga Hufflepuff left behind her goblet.
Healing: Esther smiled politely at the injured proctor (although it was only a simple cut on their forearm), and cast Diagnosus Exposum, determining there was nothing else wrong with him before covering it with the ointment and wrapping it neatly with bandages, while wearing gloves over clean hands, of course. At least wizards knew that much, although she wasn't sure how much they knew about things like the immune system.

Alexander Avery's OWLs (Taken Only)
Charms: Alec rolled his eyes. The very first spell they'd learned? That was what he was supposed to demonstrate? He'd always been pretty good with Charms, but even if he hadn't been, this would have been a piece of cake. "Wingardium leviosa," he cast drolly, with a swish and a flick, and smirked as the feather floated up in the air, before getting up and leaving the exam. That'd been fairly straightforward.
DADA: Alec had beaten the boggart before, and he was confident that he could do it again. Taking a deep breath, he approached the cupboard. The doors creaked open and a veritable nest of snakes appeared, slithering over one another in their hurry to get towards him. He resisted the urge to jump backwards and gritted his teeth. "Riddikulus!" The hissing, slithering cobras turned into a pile of dirty laundry, and Alec laughed, vanquishing the boggart for the time being.
Transfiguration: They were really testing people's ethics with this one. "Sorry, mate, I promise I'll bring you right back," Alec told the kitten conversationally, before vanishing it with an "Evanesco!". After the proctor examined the area to make sure it was really gone and not just invisible, Alec brought it back, wishing he could have taken it, but knowing Wiley wouldn't like that much. Besides, he wasn't much of a cat person anyways.
Cursebreaking: Alec had known this exam would be much harder than others, and by the time he got to the practical section, while he thought he'd done well on the multiple choice, it was hard not to be a bit nervous. Focus, he reminded himself firmly, and cast, “Scelestus timor deprehensio,” Only the book glowed silver. He pointed to it with a triumphant smirk.
Study of Ancient Runes: Zero is the demiguise, one is the unicorn, two is the graphorn, three is the runespoor, four is the fwooper, five is the quintaped, six is the salamander, seven is unknown, eight is the acromantula, nine is the hydra.

Tiernan Yaxley's NEWTs (Taken Only):
Charms: Tiernan dispelled the wall of fire with a swift flame-freezing charm, giggling as she stepped through it. She quickly silenced the Jarvey and lifted the boulder with a levitation charm. Finally she came to the egg, and color-changed it to red.
Herbology: The safest way to do this for both her and the plant was, Tiernan decided, was to use a charm of some sort. If they hadn't wanted her to use magic, they ought to have confiscated her wand before the start. A slowing charm should do nicely. Under its effects, the plant was free to flail about... at a much slower reaction time. This made acquiring the pods far easier, as she was able to duck and dodge around the plant's dangerous tendrils without getting slashed to bits. Honestly, cracking open the pods themselves was more difficult, but she managed it and triumphantly turned in the tubers at the end.
Divination: Tiernan sat down in front of her first victim, a dark-skinned man in his thirties with a broad grin. She shuffled her tarot card deck and arranged a Celtic Cross of ten cards. She lifted the top card from the center. "The Wheel of Fortune. This is the immediate challenge facing you. Life is a series of cyclical changes, and in order to succeed you cannot resist the wheel. You need to learn to let go and let life take you where it may. Negative and positive experiences are just a part of life. Change is something to embrace, not run away from." Then the bottom center card. "The Tower. This is your present. Something momentous has just happened or is happening to you, some sort of change. Think of it as a fresh start, rather than a disaster. You can always rebuild, but first you must accept that the old ways are over." Now the card on the left side of the cross. "This is your past. The High Priestess. Wisdom. Despite your current predicament, you know you made the right choice, and that you won't regret this in the long run. That's good." The card on the right side of the cross. "The Moon. The future. This is your chance for introspection and insight. Trust your intuition as you move ahead. It won't fail you." Now the top of the cross. "The Justice. This is your goal. You want to be fair and honest, and you want your opinions to matter. Just remember to have empathy for others, and you'll understand better where they're coming from." And then the bottom of the cross. "The Star. This is your subconscious desire to connect spiritually with yourself and others. Focus on your core values, and they won't steer you wrong." Now for the side cards. "Strength, in the advice position. Don't let your ego go unchecked. Strength is also about balance. Be assertive, but not arrogant. Don't expect of others what you are not willing to do yourself. The Lovers, in the external influences position. You must choose one. That's all I can say. Don't let yourself be paralyzed by indecision. The Chariot, your hopes and fears. Go confidently into the future. You know what you want out of a life, so look at this as a chance to go seek it at last. Death, your outcome. Don't worry- not necessarily a physical death, but a shedding of the past. The old you is gone. Stop clinging to him. All you can do now is look ahead, to your future." The second victim was an older Asian woman who didn't look exactly pleased to be there. Tiernan peered into the crystal ball between the two of them. "I see a door, swinging open. Something new is available to you, if you're willing to walk through that door. And... mountains. There are obstacles ahead of you, but if you're willing to climb, perhaps you can conquer them. And a sun, rising over the mountains. There's success and happiness, beyond those challenges." The third victim was an aloof looking young woman with dyed green hair and multiple tattoos. Tiernan squinted at her tea leaves. "I see a heart... indicating love and compassion... and scissors... meaning quarrels or a separation of some sort." The fourth victim was a very professional looking man of about forty. He clearly had fire hands; flushed skin, short fingers, square palm. "Your heart line is chained... you wear your emotions on your sleeve... and you enjoy taking risks. Your head line tells me you're extremely right-brained... Your life line tells me that you've had many relocations." The final victim was a grim looking girl with thick blonde hair not much older than Tiernan herself. She lit the candle and stared into the flame for a few moments. "I see... a wasp. Romantic problems, but probably nothing serious."

Esther Spencer's NEWTs (Taken Only):
DADA: Essie disarmed the first dummy immediately, and confounded the second, shielded against the third, then stunned the fourth. Finally she came to the cabinet that she knew contained the boggart. Exhaling, she braced herself as it emerged in the form of roaring flames and cackles and screams, the childish version of Hell that had terrified her as a child. "Riddikulus!" she cried, and the flames turned to paper and fell flat like bad props in a school play. She broke into laughter, and the boggart retreated in disgrace.
History of Magic: Essie pointed to one after another. "Albus Dumbledore famously defeated Gellert Grindelwald and discovered twelve uses of dragon blood. Harry Potter is the only known survivor of a killing curse and famously defeated Voldemort. Newt Scamander wrote Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and pioneered major laws to protect magical creatures, like the ban on experimental breeding."
Healing: Essie decided to handle the bleeding forearm first. "Wundus healiom," she tapped on the arm, and immediately sealed up the cut. Then the leg, which she cast "Osseo recifientes," on with a circular motion, healing the break. "Lungis clearus," she cast on the cougher, spiraling her wand, and the coughing immediately ceased.

Treva Warlow's OWLs (Taken Only):
Charms: Treva rolled her eyes. "Wingardium leviosa," she drawled, and with an exaggerated swish and flick sent the feather floating up towards the sky.
DADA: Treva gritted her teeth at the version of herself that stepped out of the wardrobe; drab and middle aged, with lackluster brunette hair going gray and a haggard, wrinkled face, dressed in frumpy 'mum' clothes. "Riddikulus!" she snapped, and the version of herself disappeared, the clothes collapsing in a crumpled heap. Treva snorted and then chuckled, vanquishing the boggart.
Herbology: Treva was only determined to get an O on this exam so she could shove it in Hill's face. Gloves on, she carefully drained the pus out of each of the pustules until her vial was full. Then she turned it in, stripping off her gloves.
Transfiguration: Treva pouted in response to the pouting kitten, and then swiftly vanished it. Just as quickly, she brought it back, and tucked it into her shirt as she left the room, ignoring the proctor's yells.
Cursebreaking: "Scelestus Timor Deprehensio," Treva cast over the objects, and jerked her head at the goblet, which was shimmering silver. "It's that one."

Lydia Spencer's OWLs (Taken Only):
Charms: Lydia knew this charm inside and out. "Wingardium leviosa!" she cast confidently, swishing and flicking her wand, and smiled as the feather floated up in the air.
Transfiguration: Lydia wasn't thrilled to be vanishing a kitten, but she knew she could do it. Holding her breath, she vanished it, and then brought it back, relieved to see it looked perfectly fine, if a little peeved.
Healing: Lydia carefully cleaned the wound and applied the ointment, before securely wrapping it in bandages. "Make sure to redress it," she told the patient, as she straightened up.
Music: Lydia clapped four times in a row, then once, then rested, then clapped twice, then rested, then clapped twice, once, four times in a row, once, rested, once, once again, rested, clapped twice, paused, clapped twice, once.

Alexander Avery's NEWTs (Taken Only):
Charms: Alec rolled his eyes at the rather dramatic wall of flames, before casting, “Flammus friggus,” and moving through the now harmless flames to open the door. Once on the other side, he winced at the Jarvey’s shrieking, pretended it was his mother, and cast a quick silencing charm. Smirking at the now silently furious creature, he moved on to the large boulder, banished it with a “Depulso!”, and entered the final stage, where had to laugh at the egg. “Colovaria,” he snorted, and changed the egg red.
DADA: Alec studied the dummy for a moment before calling out, “Expelliarmus!”, disarming it. Then he easily confounded the next dummy, and yelped “Protego!” at the last minute, shielding himself against the third dummy’s attack. Creepy things. The next one was moving, which was even worse, but he stunned it on the first try. Finally, the cabinet. Alec knew what was inside. A veritable pile of snakes came hissing and slithering out, all different shades and sizes. The largest was more like a small anaconda. They were mesmerizing, and horrifying, given how quickly they were moving. “Riddikulus!” he barked, and the serpents turned into a pile of squeaking pygmy puffs. Alec burst out laughing at their stunned faces.
Transfiguration: Alec thought about it for a moment, and then told the proctor, “I’m doing hippogriff legs.” With that, he began the spell, and his human legs began to transform into those of a hippogriff. It took less time than he expected, and the sensation of standing on talons, rather than normal toes, was very off putting. But he had all the feathers, and the proctor inspected them, then told him he could undo the transfiguration. Alec was a bit more nervous about that, but had no issues.
Cursebreaking: The first spell Alec cast as soon as he stepped into the room was, “Contengo deprehensio.” He snorted at the sight of the concealing ward, and got rid of it with a “Finite incantatem”. That revealed the serpentine statue. This was why everyone gave Slytherin a bad name. They even used them in Cursebreaking. “Deprehensio,” he cast then, and next, “Scelestus Timor Deprehensio”. The statue and candelabra were both cursed. “Aveho defixio,” he cast on each in turn, removing the curses. That just left the monocle and the rug. “Deprehensio Mutatio,” he cast on the monocle, and seeing that it had been transfigured, “Restituto.” It turned back into an inkwell. “Finite incantatem,” he cast last on the rug, removing the enchantment on it.

Myron Hargrave's OWLs (Taken Only):
DADA: Myron approached the rattling cabinet, steeling himself. Suddenly his mother burst out of the cabinet, eyes wide and breathing harshly, as if she'd been running. She looked surprised at the sight of him and smiled in relief, before she was cut down by an unseen spell and collapsed to the floor, dead. Although he logically knew that his mother was alright and this was just an illusion, he still had to fight back the urge to run to her before he gritted out, "Riddikulus!" His mother's corpse turned into a doll-sized version of her which immediately sat up, looking annoyed, and he burst into laughter.
Transfiguration: Myron thought it was pretty dark that they were forced to perform the vanishing spell on a mewling little kitten. Then again, maybe they were trying to weed out the people who'd be too nervous to do it. People would probably be less concerned about the welfare of a rat or toad. "Evanesco!" he said promptly, and the kitten vanished. After a minute or so, he summoned it back, pleased that it seemed completely fine.
Care of Magical Creatures: Myron crouched down with a sheet of bark in hand, wood lice and fairy eggs balanced precariously on it. He slowly and cautiously approached the suspicious looking bowtruckle, before leaving the food between it and him. Then, he sat back and waited, trying to look as still and relaxed as possible. Eventually, the food won the bowtruckle over, and it scurried over to eat, still looking up him warily, but relaxing when it became obvious he wasn't going to make any sudden movement. He managed to coax it right up to his wand with some wood lice in his palm.
Cursebreaking: Myron carefully cast "Scelestus Timor Deprehensio" on each of the objects. The book was the only one which shimmered silver in response. "It's the book," he told the proctor, who nodded in approval.
NEWTs (Taken Only):
DADA: Myron pushed himself to complete the practical as quickly as possible; he disarmed the first dummy, confunded the second, shielded against the third, and stunned the fourth in record time. At least, he liked to think so. Still pumped with adrenaline, he approached the wardrobe, and braced himself as the boggart emerged. For a few seconds, he was paralyzed by the sight of his mother's corpse, before he said firmly, "Riddikulus!". It immediately turned into his mother sleeping beside her dog, Rose, and he snickered and laughed, vanquishing the boggart.
Transfiguration: "I'll be transfiguring my legs into hippogryff legs," Myron announced to the proctor, before beginning the transfiguring, tense with focus. Before his eyes, his legs rippled with new muscles, his toes turning into talons and feathers covering his skin. By the time he was done, he was standing unsteadily on the front legs of a hippogryff, rather than his normal human legs. The proctor inspected them for a few minutes before Myron reversed the transfiguration, struggling to keep his balance all the while.
