It itches... Brioche couldn't explain what was going on anymore. Something poked and prodded and just... Itched at the back of his mind more and more recently. It bothered him when he was tending to the Earth Kittens in his care, forcing him to look up and off into the distance every so often. It bothered him when he prowled the alleyways and empty roads, searching for something he just couldn't place.
He wasn't really of the old world. He didn't know the place in the stars from which he came, or what purpose he served before he opened his eyes. For the longest time he just felt he was a cat. Just like any other solitary one who roamed the streets. Then the next thing he realized he could think beyond just the small thoughts of 'food', 'sleep' and 'warmth'.
He was a recruiter of warriors, guiding them gently to the path that he knew they were for. There was an understanding of what he needed to do, but the hardest part in all of this was the guilt. How could he let these children fight? Why couldn't he do more to stop them from getting hurt, to protect them. Surely they were his kittens, just as the Earthling Kittens were, but they could not be stopped... And he could not stop looking for more.
At times he found it simply unbearable to think about and he hid for days on end, only ever leaving his small tree trunk in the park to fetch food for the kittens he cared for. Yet again he'd be pulled back in, every hair on his being standing on end, calling for him, gripping at his throat until he found that person who was to awaken. Brioche told them over and over the choice was theirs, that they could be safe by choosing not to fight. But they never refused. So he gave him every ounce of knowledge he had, and told them where he could be found and how he would help. But they never came.
No matter how many senshi he would awaken, he would try to guide, he could not satisfy that itch in his mind. He'd wait with bated breath, hoping that once this senshi awakened it would be his. But as relieved as he was that they found their power easily, it was not what he was looking for.
On this night, of all nights, he trudged with heavy paws through a neighborhood he was unfamiliar with. A small scent seemed to be left in the air, on the walls of here, so faint that Brioche couldn't trace it, but it was as if someone dragged the faintest of touches across that itch in his mind. And he was desperate to find it.
Up ontop of walls, over the ledges, in and out of fences he roamed through this neighborhood, desperately trying to find that scent over and over again. It was barely there, as if whatever that left this scent behind was long long long gone... And the old cat's heart sank to the pit of his stomach. It tortured him not to know what was happening, why this was happening? Why did this being elude him so much and torture his mind!?
He finally reached a point where the smell was strongest, and it worried him. It must have been a long time since that creature was here, the smell was barely present... He couldn't give up, not now, not when he felt he was so close.
There was another scent present as well, one that was familiar in the sense that it was so much like his own. Another Mauvian, perhaps?
Were they within these walls? Brioche scratched at the door from which the scent seemed to be coming from. They would hear him. They would know how to help, how to relieve this itch in his mind, surely they felt it too!
litian Annnnd Brioche meets Liryn! Sorry about the long and excessive post. I started typing and couldn't stop D: I want to say this is right near Arian's apartment. Perhaps takes place a few days after Arian Leaves. Let me know if there are any changes that need to be made!

Whilst this particular neighbourhood was one that Liryn was familiar with, the small tabby bobtail mauvian hadn't been planning to head in this particular direction.
Perhaps it was habit, a bit of absentmindedness, because up until relatively recently it had been the route that he took to head home after an evening's wanderings.
There was no one currently at the apartment however since Athene was away and was going to be away for a while yet.
Liryn turned, intending to pad away and towards the shops close to the apartment and then perhaps in the direction of the park and then he sensed the aura...
Or at least he thought it had, although it had felt more like a small spark of warmth than anything else making it hard to pin down.
He paused for a moment as purplish eyes looked around curiously.Kapoodles it's totally fine :3 I'm currently working on Liryn tags which is why I've tagged this one first, but I should hopefully get to our other open ones soon

It was useless. No matter how long he pawed at the door, or how loudly he meowed, no one was coming. It frustrated him to no end! How was he supposed to make this nudging itch in his mind go away when everything was so far out of reach?!
Resigned to his fate of not knowing what he was looking for, Brioche sat back on his hind legs, pressing his forehead to the door in an attempt to calm down. Frustration did not suit him, nor did irritation or being in such a ragged state. This anger would help no one.
Resigned to simply stop his searching for the evening, the old Scottish Fold backed away from the door, heart heavy, and made for the street. It seemed the scent of the Mauvian he had before was there, stronger than before... And there was even the aura he knew his kind had. He would be a fool to not follow it.
Over the wall once more he leaped, landing softly on his paws a few feet away from the smaller cat. Brioche could just feel his bones ache and groan. Perhaps he was getting too old for such acrobatics. Not like this one. He was so small, so young. Ah, to be that age again.
"Good evening, lad... It is not often I meet one of my own. Are you doing alright on this warm evening?" That scent.. It WAS the one from the home he had been prodding at... But that would be rude to prod about the location, he couldn't ask about it, not just yet.

Liryn frowned as he picked up on the spark of warmth again, as a part of him wondered if he should try to track down the maybe aura.
Because if the maybe aura was really an aura then perhaps it meant that there was a fellow mauvian nearby, because mauvians didn't really give off much of an aura...
Well at least not when they were in cat form.
The blur of movement from over the nearby wall had been a bit of surprise, but it hadn't stopped Liryn from padding closer to get a better look.
It hadn't taken long however for him to realise that the movement was actually a fellow mauvian and a fellow order mauvian to boot going by the aura.
He gave the bigger cat a feline grin, his voice cheerful as he said "I'm doing okay - how about you?"

"If okay was only the word I could use, little one." Brioche approached the other Mauvian quite easily, neither threatened or suspicious towards him. What a smile he had, given what situations often befell them on their nightly duties. It was much more of a comfort than some of the previous meetings the old man had. Cheerfulness truly did seem to be a rarity these days.
"I am searching for something that I cannot quite understand... Pardon me, despite my age, I have only been awake for a short time, so there are many things I do not understand. Would you have a moment or two to provide some assistance?" The world of the White Moon, the Negaverse, and all the others seemed so fuzzy to him. He knew his general purpose, and his place to teach and guide the senshi, but he was so uncertain on whether or not what he was doing was right or wrong in the eyes of whatever higher power they served.
"Ah, excuse my boldness to ask something of you so quickly... Might I ask, what are you doing out at this time of night alone? Do you not have someone you guide about?"

"Sure" there was no hesitation to Liryn's cheerful answer because whilst the small tabby bobtail wasn't sure what to make of the other's previous comment he was generally happy to offer a helping paw.
He was even happy to offer two paws or three, or even all four - it depended on what the situation might ask for.
"Did you want me to help you look for whatever it is that you're looking for?" His purplish eyes were curious as he voiced the question.
The other mauvian's question was quickly followed up by a second and he flicked his ears as he told him "Oh I don't mind."
Adding "I was actually out on patrol and yes I do have a senshi - quite a few of them actually."
Because whilst Athene was the senshi to who he was bonded, Liryn didn't consider the dark-haired senshi his only senshi.
Because he considered the senshi that he had awakened and the senshi friends he had made as being also his to look out for in his way.
And there were also senshi out there - new senshi - who whilst not necessarily his who could do with a helping paw and that was all on top of making sure that he did his bit to keep an eye out for trouble.

"You are willing to assist? Oh wonderful, simply wonderful!" Brioche could simply go up and lick the small one, were it possibly not rude to do so. Though he was small, Brioche had a feeling the kitten was far older than he appeared. Then again, they were all kittens to him.
"To think you have so many, you must be quite diligent in your efforts, to which I must applaud you! A kind soul and a willing heart seems so hard to find these days..." Brioche shook his head. The war was draining on both the mind and body, it it seemed so often that the ones he found that were able and willing to find were but children. He pitied them... And feared for them. But this was not the moment to think of this.
"I have this feeling in my mind, a calling of sorts. Someone needs me, I believe. A single individual that I could consider my own. Yes, I do understand there are many senshi that need my help, but I... There is one I feel was mine. I apologize... Does that perhaps make any sense?"

As it happened the other mauvian was correct in his assessment of Liryn's age as he was - despite his small size - an adult cat rather than a kitten.
Liryn nodded as the other mauvian once again asked if he was willing to help "Sure" he repeated - because he really was willing to lend a paw - even if the other mauvian did seem to be the type to wax on and on.
The cheerfulness faded, as the bigger mauvian outlined the gist of the problem, Liryn's purplish eyes turning serious "Yes"
Because it did make sense - it made sense all too well, bringing back memories of the period spent looking for Athene.
Of course back then he hadn't actually known that he was searching for Athene, hadn't known anything beyond the fact that there was a senshi out there that needed him.
"Yes it does make sense."

"You do? Oh thank the maker!" Brioche did not hesitate to come closer and closer to the Liryn, up until he was all but inches away, gazing into his eyes with awe and desperation.
"So you know, you know, that's wonderful, that's grand! Please, tell me, young one, How? How do we find this? How do we quell this thudding, this itch, this prodding in the back of my mind? I've been searching for so long, so long to try to find the one who's causing this but I don't know, I can't find them." It was very unlike Brioche to speak so much. In fact, most of the time he was silent, opting to simply listen and watch the world unfold around him. He just couldn't, not with this buzzing still going on behind the back of his mind.
"I've tried for so long, I keep finding small trails, a scent or an aura that feels so familiar and warm but as quickly as it comes, it goes. I followed it here to this neighborhood, but it's gone now... Did you have this feeling? Do you know how to find that senshi, or atleast find a way to mute this feeling for now?"

"I don't know if there's a way to mute the feeling" Liryn admitted "There wasn't for me."
Because during the period after he had awakened to himself, the feeling that his senshi was out there - that there was someone who needed him - was something that had been always at the back of his mind and it had pushed him to keep looking and looking.
"But there wasn't a scent trail or an aura for me to follow either."
He frowned seriously "I can ask one of the other mauvians if it's possible to do that however and in the meanwhile perhaps we can look around the area here for a little since that's where you've managed to track the aura to."
A thought occurred to him "By the way do you have a communicator? We can exchange contacts if you do." Because whilst not all mauvians did, if this particular mauvian did then at least if Liryn did try asking one of the other mauvians he knew then he would have a way to get the information to the other mauvian.
"Oh and I'm Liryn" because it also occured to him that perhaps he should give the bigger mauvian his name.

"Oh... A shame, a shame..." Brioche began pacing infront of Arian, his tail twitching ever so slightly, thoroughly upset by the change in the situation.
"Perhaps I had met this person before. Before my mind became clear and my words formed on my lips. Maybe that's why I feel them, that it seems so familiar and warm like I have always known it... Please do, if you can contact our brothers and sisters to quell this storm under my skin, I would be forever in your debt." The number of Mauvian's that Brioche had met were in the single digits. In fact, perhaps Liryn was the first one. So much more excitement was stifled by the murmur or sometimes screaming in his mind.
"I do. I do. I have one, but it is silent." He laughed ever so lightly. "I am an old man, perhaps this technology is too new and advanced for me to wrap my mind around."
Despite the joke, he still summoned his communicator, laying it on the ground before Liryn.
"I am Brioche, little one. The pleasure is entirely mine."

"Sure" Liryn agreed as he mentally sorted through his mauvian contacts before deciding to perhaps try Ash.
Because whilst it had been a while since he and Ash had talked, the visor-wearing mauvian tended to know a whole lot of things.
Snowball was perhaps an option too and Liryn made a mental npte to try messaging the two of them.
He frowned slightly when the larger mauvian mentioned that he had a communicator, but that said communicator was silent, purplish eyes glancing towards the summoned communicator.
"Do you mind if I take a look Brioche?" He asked as he patted at the communicator gently with a paw.

"No no, go on, Liryn. Take your time, take what you need. I am forever grateful for your time." Though he said this, Brioche seemed a little more anxious than not, his tail twitching more and more. The longing in his chest to find this senshi who needed him was becoming unbearable.
But what could he even do than to just right now other than to sit here and wait? The trail was cold...
Brioche always was the sort who did his best to protect those who needed it. Whether human or alien or the tiniest of kittens, he wanted him safe, so knowing that there was someone out there who needed him, yet there was nothing he could do drove him mad.
Well, madder than he already was.
"Tell me, little one, did you exist before? Do you remember the time from before? Or perhaps are you new?"

"Kind of" Liryn admitted, assuming that the other mauvian was talking about the time prior to him awakening to himself. "I used to be a stray."
He took the other's 'Go ahead' comment as permission and used his paw to prise off the top of the communicator as he spoke.
It wasn't so long ago that he had forgotten wandering the streets hunting for both food and the bits of affection that he had managed to get here and there, even if his life was very different now.
"And I've not been around as long some of the others like us" because Liryn was aware that there were other mauvians who had been around for much longer than him.
He laughed, absently using his paw to fiddle with a couple of wires that didn't look quite right "But I'm not sure if I'd really count as 'new' anymore."
He snapped the top back into place before nudging the communicator back towards the larger mauvian "And this looks like it should work okay now - it works on voice commands so telling it to activate should get it to work."xKapoodles No need to apologise - I am just as slow

"Ah, a stray... And a young one too... Perhaps not. Your mind seems far more wise than my own. Only recently have I been able to help the young soldiers that call to us." So far he had awakened perhaps... Three senshi? Guided a few others to victory, but it felt as if he never did enough.
"Hrm... I see..." Once the communicator was passed back to him, he gave it a once over, seemingly impressed by the swiftness that his young companion had shown in it's repair. "Well then, Communicator, please activate."
