**RP started on IM**

Ergon had never been so far from home before. He'd never even been outside of his village borders before! Now, here he was with his father, at the border of Zena and Sauti. They were on a mission under the request of his mother's healer. Apparently, there was an herb out this way that could help to ease her pain... He'd been brought along simply because his father wanted him to have a little space..

Grashni knew how hard his son was working at home... and it killed him that he couldn't be there more often. He realized his son was a braver man than he. The boy deserved a break, and he wanted to spend some time with his boy.

Overall, the trip was surprisingly pleasant. Ergon almost felt like he was just on a long walk with his father while his mother stayed home to work around the house. ..He almost felt like that. However, the change in the weather soon began to affect the boy. He became irritable and grouchy, prompting his father's request that the boy stay outside while he went into the herbalist's shop. Ergon only pouted further, throwing stones along the road while trying to hide in the shade of a tree. Hoooooot!

Hargitt walked with his head held straight, a light breeze ruffling his hair across his cheek, and a hardness in his eyes that rendered them as cold as ice. Even if he had felt the need to seek out vocal companions none would have approached him. Dressed in his leathers with a bow strapped to his back, the young man cut an impressive figure that radiated 'danger'.

He made it his mission to stay outside of the town for as long as possible while Jak performed his search or whatever else the hybrid saw fit. Honestly, Hargitt didn't want to know. There were too many variables there. All at once he hissed, lifted his leg just enough to rub at his sore shin. It had felt like something bit him, or maybe he had stumbled upon something? ....or was he being attacked?

Frowning, the massive man placed his boot back down on the ground and looked around to find the source.

How was mother doing with only the nurse tending to her? Did she even notice that he was gone? If he wasn't with his father, he might have tried disappearing for a couple days, just to see. His eyes often slid over to the shop his father was in, trying to mentally hurry the old man along.

When one of his thrown stones made a sharp hissing sound, Ergon's head snapped around with surprise. He'd hit someone?! His mouth opened to apologize, but then his expression went flat. Not a Zenan. "Look out for the rocks," he said blandly, resuming his 'game' with the stones.

It didn't take long for the experienced hunter to find his prey. Hargitt had thought a child might be the cause of this, having raised so many younger brothers himself and knowing the signs. What he hadn't expected was the complete brush off, but then, shouldn't he have known better? How many Zenian's had he seen just on the border that thought themselves better than their southern dwelling cousins?

Hargitt side stepped yet another stone. Scrunching his frown into an even darker line, the man strode up towards the brush and dipped his hand down quickly to snatch the boy up by the back of his tunic. At least now he didn't have to look down just to see the little brat.

Ergon was focused on the stones again, and tried to keep his attention there. Wandering thoughts were not good. At first, he assumed the adult was just going to walk on by. Why would he bother with someone so above his station, anyway? When the stomping feet came close enough to cause concern, Ergon gave a yip of surprise. The guy was... actually quite huge... And with those spikes growing from him...

The boy froze for a moment, staring at the "bold" Sautian with eyes wide in a mix of fear and surprise now that they were level with each other, body limp as it hung in the air. All at once, he started flailing his limbs. "Lemme down! You can't touch me! My father will have you arrested! I'll fight if I have to!" Tough words for the shrimpy little iceling whose arms couldn't reach the face right in front of him.

Hargitt hadn't really thought about what to do once he had the boy, but now that he was holding the huffy iceling Hargitt was dumb struck. Not that it showed; his default face was a stern, if not disappointed glower. Years of disciplining younger brothers had transfigured his face into a look that promised punishments for crimes that hadn't even been thought of yet.

It was harder to hold him once he started struggling though. Hargitt had to really grip the fabric, and his scowl deepened. "Stop." If the boy didn't calm down he might fall and hurt himself. The archer quirked his brow at the 'threats', fighting down the urge just to drop the boy anyway. "Calling for an arrest would only work if you were the victim. You are not. You attacked me." Not that anyone would choose to come to his aid over the boys. Hargitt wouldn't blame them; he could be intimidating when he wanted to.

And why was this boy out here, by himself? They weren't that far away from the heart of the village, but that didn't mean Hargitt like the idea of him being on his own. Especially if he was going to attack strangers. Best to take him to his family and dispose of him.

Lowering the boy marginally, Hargitt put his arm around the child's waist and tucked him under his arm like a bale of straw before walking.

Though he stopped shouting at the firm demand, Ergon continued to squirm about. Part of it was stubbornness. The other part.. was that he just wanted away from the big man. "I-I didn't attack you," he objected. "I was throwing the stones first. You got in the way!"

There was a twinge of relief as he felt himself go down, but it wasn't nearly far enough! It took him a moment to work out what had just happened... He was being kidnapped!! He let out a squawk of a wail and flailed even harder than before, knocking his little fists against the man as hard as he could. "You can't do this! My father won't stand for it! How dare you?!" Soon enough though.. his pride was infected by his fear. His hands trembled as his swatting slowed down, and his heart thudded in his chest. "I-I-I didn't mean t-to hit you! D-d-d-don't take m-me away!"

A technicality. If he hadn't been there then someone else would have been. What if it had been another child, or an elder? For Hargitt the hit had amounted to little more than a sting, but to them it could be a bruise.

It was hard holding onto the little runt as he squirmed. Hargitt grunted, flexing the muscles in his arm just to get a better grip. The last thing he wanted was to drop the little brat on his head, but it seemed like the child was hell bent on doing just that. Hargitt just kept walking towards the village, trying to keep his pace steady and straight despite the boy's frantic attempts at escape.

What was puzzling was at one moment he was trying to act tough and the next...stuttering as if he had a lisp. Was the boy that worried of what his father would do to him? Good. Let him fear punishments. It will make him less likely to do it again.

"Who is your father?" Hargitt would need to know the name of the man so he could find him. Granted, as he started looking around, the villagers he was coming across seemed...a little odd to him. Almost like they were worried, and their eyes kept shifting between him and the boy.

"My father?" Ergon sniffled and looked at the ground in confusion. Did this man not know who his father was? ..So, not a planned kidnapping, but a random one! He had just been in the wrong place at the wrong time. Of all the nerve! His father had been through enough. "I'm not telling you!" he shouted, squirming again. "I'll m-make sure he doesn't give you a single coin! It-it doesn't matter what you.. what you do to me!" He was doing his best to be brave! He wasn't going to allow himself to be ransomed! He was going to show this scoundrel that no good would come of such savagery.

"Yes, your father." Why was this child hesitating? Had he lied about having a father? If he was an orphan then Hargitt would feel immensely guilty for being so rough with him. Well, partially guilty; if he was an orphan then he would have no one to tell him when his behavior was out of control, and a little rough justice wouldn't harm the lad.

Frowning, Hargitt looked back down to the wriggling boy. "I don't want his coin. And stop stammering. You're going to be a man some day; act like it." If the child wasn't going to give him any sort of direction then Hargitt was going to take his own. He moved with a purposeful stride to the inn, figuring that as a place of common location at least SOMEONE might at least know the boy.

What he didn't like were that the strange looks were getting more common place, and that quite a few of the villagers were now following them. What the hell was going on?

Ergon finally stopped squirming, confusion fully taking over his fear. The guy didn't want coin? A man someday? The scary guy wasn't going to kill him? "Then... what are you doing?" he asked shortly, banging his fists against the large arm holding him again. "I said I won't take being carried like this! It's embarrassing! Lemme go!"

He was noticing the people following them as well, and his cheeks flushed purple. He was attracting far too much attention. His father would be upset... "You really aren't going to hurt me?" he asked hesitantly, looking up at the big man again.

"Taking you to your father, so you can explain why you were shooting rocks into the room, heedless of passerby's." It was the most Hargitt had spoken in ages. His voice was low, ice chip eyes looking this way and that at the growing hoard. He was almost to the village square when two rather large, rather broad iceling men stepped in his path.

"That's him! That's the man that kidnapped the boy, just like I said!" A woman stood behind them, cowering slightly when Hargitt looked at her. What in the world was going on....?

Kidnapping....?

Hargitt furrowed his brows. If he really wanted to take the kid wouldn't he have gone the other way, out of town, or at least stuck to the side streets? Maybe even bothered to shut his ever rampant mouth?

Ergon pursed his lips. "You were the one not paying attention!" Honestly, what was with this guy?

When they were stopped, he looked around with embarrassment. His father would be more concerned about the scene he was helping to make than about the rocks... Eyes wide, he looked around frantically. While the upstart Sautian did need to learn a lesson, accusing him of kidnapping seemed a bit much. "Wait! He isn't kidnapping me!" Squirming a little, he rotated enough to glare up at Hargitt. "He is being very rude though. I don't want to be carried around like this!"

"Has he threatened you, boy?" One of the burly ice men asked the question, stepping forward in a threatening manner towards Hargitt.

In the mean time Hargitt saw that his mostly-well intended talk was going to be interrupted. Instead of causing an outright panic, he slowly lowered the boy to the ground and released his hold. There was a worry that if he didn't one or more would try to fight him for the kid, which would have inevitably injured the boy. Hargitt didn't mind taking a punch; but he wouldn't put the brat in harm's way if he didn't have to.

"Come on with us now. The guardsmen will want to have a talk with ya."

The iceling man laid a hand on Hargitt's arm, which caused the prickly windling to snap out of his hold. For a moment neither man moved; they just stood, snarling at one another.

Ergon blinked over at the ice adult. Threatened? His brow knit as he was set down. The guy sure had been threatening! But, had he actually been threatened? "I.. don't think..?" He looked up at the large man with a little confusion, but then set his chin and took a step away. "You should go to the guards. Maybe they'll help you see what you did wrong." He crossed his arms stubbornly, braver now that he had a few adults around on his side.
