Kae hummed to himself under his breath as he trotted along. It had been a good day, the sun was warm and the wind fresh. He had eaten well and the earth felt good under his paws. A perpetual wanderer, Kae loved nothing more than to roam free, following the wind. The tune that had been circling his mind all morning gradually slipped free, moving from a hum to a soft whisper before finally lifting into the sky on a full-throated song. Kae was a surprisingly adept singer, though it was not a talent he had ever sought or improved. He just
could. And he often sang to himself while he roamed. His accent was lilting and it carried into his song, a melodious tune of little import about a honey badger and a tree.
"Honey badger Honey badger,
What do you see?
What do you see,
in that hole in the tree?
Is it danger or is it dinner?
Honey badger, Honey badger,
Are you hungry?"
Suddenly a warm and enticing scent reached him and he let the song die away, instantly forgetting the silly little ditty as he turned his head seeking, paws slowing from a ground-eating stride to a slower and slower walk.
"Hello?" He called out, voice curious and intrigued. Pushing through a clump of bushes he stepped out of the foliage and stopped, head up and ears pricked. Spotting another canine further up the path he grinned, always interested in meeting a stranger. Kae knew himself to be a fine dog. Tall at the shoulder and with, he had been reassured repeatedly, a very fine head and long, straight tail. His handsome coat was a rich tan, going from almost black along his back to warm copper and fading to a creamy white at his chest and belly. It was currently dusty from his travail but otherwise clean.
Turning towards the stranger he walked closer, his grin friendly and a bit cheeky. "Well met." He greeted, tone affable and warmly polite.
