The center of the village is easily identified because of the large fountain in the middle, this is often a point of reference when moving through the village. What was once running water has been replaced with a thick, temped, green sludge that sometimes moves through the plumbing and dribbles slowly out the mouths of the sprouts. The vaguely humanoid figure that remains of a once immortalized hero has become unrecognizable but is still seen over the rooftops of the houses in the general area. The cobblestone streets have become uneven and strange, root-like fleshy strands have pushed through the ground and crept up the cracked and aging buildings that surround the main streets. Many shops are absolutely trashed, most of the food that was once on the shelves are heavily rotted and some of them are even pulsing with a life of their own. Rats and flies seem to have made a home here, though even they are not immune to the death that seems to be stalking the streets of this village.
In the southwestern most corner of the village lies an old, decrepit lodging even by the standards of the village. Surrounding the lodge is swampland that constantly wheezes a fog where strange moss and molds grow unchecked. The water here is beyond stagnant here and has a fairly thick topping of sludge that seems to bubble and gurgle on occasion. The Lodging within the swamp is run down but still standing. The door isn’t locked, and if anything most of the door has rotted away and left an easy means to enter the premises.
Heading to the North most part of the village, the sounds of children playing and shrieking with joy can be heard and echo through the streets. It’s both an uplifting and eerie contrast to the normally quiet streets that the rest of the village holds. All the children seem to have accumulated in what would seem to once have been an orphanage, but not adults are present. The older children seem to look after the younger ones and things are going seemingly well for them. From the distance that you currently are, nothing seems out of the normal, spare for the fact that there is nothing out of the normal for a place within the corruption. The playground that the children are playing on seems rather… ramshackle… to say the least and it’s obvious that a lot of these play spaces have been broken and jimmy-rigged together by little hands in attempts to fix them up. The repairs are obviously crude but seem surprisingly effective. The area surrounding the playground is largely over grown and the strange, fleshy roots that are all over the town are here as well, though they don’t appear to be doing any damage to the building that the children call home itself. In fact, it almost looks like whatever is making these roots is using them to hold the building together and making it stronger.
There is a large residential area to the West, a lot of homes seem to be crammed together in attempts to hold a lot of people. It would be very easy to imagine that there were a lot of people around this space and living together like good neighbours would. Now, however the place is overgrown with weeds, strangle vines and those strange roots that appear to weave in and out all over town. Most of the houses seem to be in utter ruin, roofs have collapsed in and walls have given out causing the rest of the houses to look unstable. There are a few exceptions to this, a couple of houses still look as though they are sturdy and if the group should so choose, they could probably rest in them.
To the Southeast of the residential area are a cluster of houses, these houses look like they were for people of a little more importance than those who lived in the residential area. For the most part, these structures look stable and though they appear to be locked up pretty tight, there maybe a few places of entrance that someone of particular curiosity could access these houses.
The eastern portion of the village seems to be a shopping district with a few apartments here and there among them. There is movement in the streets from shadow to shadow but it trying to see down those streets is easier said than done. Many of the shops have been rummaged through already and little of interest is left over in the main parts of the store. Childish graffiti of happy stick figures and rainbows decorates the outer walls of a lot of these stores. There are a few that appear to be untouched and even barricaded from the outside, as if to keep something in.
In the Northeastern part of the village is the sheriff's jailhouse, and beyond it, some fields where food is grown.
Welcome to the Blighted Village! This section is unlike many of the places in the Corruption in where you are open and allowed to explore the village at your leisure. There are dangers, rewards and mysteries to unravel here. Nothing is random, and only a few things are fully planned, so feel free to explore as much or as little as you like. Interact with the villagers and make friends or enemies of them. But be warned! Every action has its consequence here. That being said… enjoy your stay at the Blighted village.

13 • Genin • Konoha Sai Mood: Determined. Present Company: Current Location: Konoha ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Sai entered through the eastern edge of the village, marveling at what she saw. It looked as though the village was long abandoned, many of the shops were boarded up and there were stick figures drawn all over the place. She made her way cautiously through the streets, eyes wide with wonder. This was the first sign of civilization that she'd seen since leaving Konoha nearly a week previously. She was out of supplies, hunger and thirst gnawing at her with every step. She entered one of the abandoned shops, hoping to find something remotely edible. She tried sniffing and sighed, it seemed that he dog tail was the only change she got. Just a dumb tail that wilted at this thought. "I'm so thirsty...hungry...and sleepy..." she sighed as she hopped out of the store and wandered further down the street of hopelessness. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- OOC: Weeeee, first one here!

The store that Sai entered looked pretty ransacked and didn’t seem to hold much in the way of anything interesting as far as food or water was concerned. What little food there was there had long sense shriveled and started to grow mold, eating this would probably result in something worse than a green dog tail. The air in this village was heavier and off compared to the rest of the corruption. There was an odd taste that would accumulate in the back of the throat whenever one breathed in. Other than the odd taste though, there didn’t seem to be too much wrong or weird with the air. But it was something that should be noted. While Sai was searching through the ruins of the store, a small, shadowed figure seemed to watching her, its hands in its pockets and leaning against the side of a store, just outside the ally way. The figure was garbed head to toe in black leathered clothing and wore a full face mask with an elongated nose on it. The mask was white and looked almost comically big on the small figure that wore it.

She shook her head and looked around some more. A few more buildings, she tried her hardest to peer into one of the boarded up windows. "I wonder what's inside?" The idea was tantalizing in a way, like a secret treasure! But before she could act on that thought, something white caught in the corner of her eye. "Is that a beak? Hello, are you a person?" She started to get really excited, her new tail wagging like crazy. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- OOC:

It was really hard to see what was beyond those boards, what little light leaked through into the room only offered a bare glimpse of what could have been some furniture or maybe some sort of clothes? The boards themselves looked pretty rotted and the wood was corroded with age, Sai could probably be able to tear these boards off with a sturdy metal rod or something similar. The little figure that was watching Sai pushed themselves off the wall and took a couple of steps towards Sai but overall kept their distance. ”Yeah, I’m a human but what are you? I ain’t never seen a tail on a human before.” The voice that was coming from behind the mask was a muffled one due to what he was wearing on their face. The youth of the voice made it hard to figure out a gender. ”So whatcha doing here? Have you come to see Mother or something?”

Present Company: Current Location: Blighted Village ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Sai cocked her head to the side curiously, regarding the figure. "You say that you're human, but you look even weirder than I do." She sat down in the dirt, pondering for a moment. "Yeah, I'm still human. I had a mishap a few days ago, this big nasty cloud gagged me as I passed through. When I woke up, I had this weird tail." As if prompted, it wagged expectantly. "I'm traveling through the Corruption in an effort to train. I used to be a ninja from Konoha, but I left that place behind me. I didn't have any friends so I didn't want to stay anymore." She briefly wondered if anyone had noticed that she left yet, before resolving her nerves once again. It didn't matter what they thought about her anymore, they didn't seem to care much when she was there. None of them acknowledged her ability, so she decided that she'd become more powerful than anyone back home. That'd show them. "So, who is Mother?"---------------------------------------------------------------------- OOC:

The figure tilted its head to the side. ”I would have to disagree with that, but if you think you’re not the weird looking one then that’s all on you.” The figure said before she placed her hands in their pockets again before she looked down at Sai. ”A Ninja, huh? We haven’t had any ninja here in a couple of years. Ever sense Mother came the ninja here slowly left the village till it was just us here.”The figure then looked up and over their left shoulder towards the North for a few moments before they turned back to look at Sai again. ”You know… if you have nowhere to go then you should head over to Big Sister Yumiko’s place to the north. That’s where all the others are gathered – or most of them at least. There are a few oddballs around the village but most of us call the Northern orphanage home.”The question of who mother was caused the figure to pause and brought a bloated, rotted looking hand to the beak of their mask as if they were in thought. ”Mother is… Mother. She is the one that takes care of us and makes sure that all the beasts stay out of the village. I’m not sure what more I can tell you about Her.”

Thanks to the massive strength she gained by wearing her new gauntlets, she easily tore through the rotting boards on one of the doors. With minor trepidation, she opened the door to see what would be awaiting her on the other side. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- OOC:

If you want to see Mother, then you’d have to find her yourself, nobody really knows where She is or how to get to Her.” The figure placed their hand in their pocket again. ”You don’t have to worry about repaying me, but I am a business person so consider that my freebee, if you want information or anything else after that you’ll have to pay for it. Seeing as you’re new here I’ll slip you a little clue, around here, candy is more valuable than you think. If you find some candy and you need somethin’ come and find me again. I’m usually around here.”With that, the figure moved down the alley way from where they emerged from and disappeared from sight. When Sai headed north she would notice that there were a lot of fleshy looking roots that had burst through the cobblestone of the walkway, making path a little more troublesome that it would normally allow. The middle of town would be easy for Sai to find and use as a base of direction, the fountain in the middle of town would be a good way for her to get her bearings if she ever got lost. The fountain looked less than attractive with the green ooze that bubbled and toiled lazily. Heading to the North most part of the village, the sounds of children playing and shrieking with joy can be heard and echo through the streets. All of the children held various deformities and diseased looking flesh, many children had bloated features or gaunt looks about them. Boils and festering wounds decorated every single one of them but didn’t seem to be holding them back from what normal children would do.

The door opened up into a rather large living space – very reminiscent of the houses of those in the Kohona village. To the right there was a staircase leading to a second floor, straight ahead there seemed to be a kitchen area and to the left there was a living room, for the most part, everything here seemed rather intact and in place where a normal house would be. A small collection of shoes waited by the door upon entry and the whole place was covered in a layer of dust so thick that an archeologist could identify the age of the place by examining it. So far nothing seemed to be out of the ordinary, pictures were hung on the walls and vases held withered flowers.

13 • Genin • Konoha Sai Mood: Curious. Top of the list is food and water, but she wasn't above having a change of clothing either. She forgot to pack new tights, so the one was all she had. After searching the downstairs, she crept quietly up the stairs. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- OOC:

The stairs groaned heavily under the weight of Sai but stood firm as she ascended the stairs and made it to the second floor of the building. The hallway stretched the length of the house, four doors were located on the right side while two doors were on the left, at the very end of the hall there was a trapped door that would give access to the attic of this house. A quick opening of the closest door to her would uncover a room that had once looked like it belonged to a teenage girl roughly about the age of Sai judging by the posters and various knickknacks that decorated the room. The room was dusty and had more than a few cobwebs floating around inside but other than this it looked rather unremarkable. The second door was locked. Perhaps there was a key somewhere around the house that could open it. The third door opened into a bathroom, the toilet water looked putrid and the sink and tub faucets looked like they were rusted solid. The final door on the right side lead to a broom closet, the closet itself was crammed with boxes and various other things, at first glance it would be hard to see if there was anything of value here. On the opposite side of the hallway the first door gave way to what looked like a little boys room, broken action figures and mold covered play things were left messily tossed around the floor in typical child fashion. There were colouring books and other things galour and a few books scattered around here and there. The final door opened up to a much larger looking playroom, complete with wardrobe and larger toys to entertain and keep children’s attention, granted, they looked so decayed and worn now that they were not likely going to be of any use anymore.

13 • Genin • Konoha Sai Mood: Curious. Present Company: Current Location: Blighted Village ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Sai was seriously confused as to why this home wasn't being used, sure it was pretty dirty because it hadn't been lived in for a long time by the looks of things, but it was still pretty serviceable. Actually, Sai felt like staying here herself would be a pretty grand idea. That way she didn't interrupt the others, as the beaked girl called them. Sai was most intrigued by the girl's room, Sai had never actually been in a real girl's room before. Sure, she was a girl and had a room, but it was full of training items that would help her grow in taijutsu. She looked over a small vanity, marveling at the items on it. Seemed like makeup and some other knick knacks littered about with a thick layer of dust on them. Taking a deep breath and stifling the cough that wanted to follow, she closed her eyes and blew heartily to try and remove much of the dust. After the inspection of the table, she decided she'd poke about the bed. She pushed on it, noting the springyness of the mattress. She then dropped to the floor, stirring up a small dust cloud and looked underneath the bed. Then she looked in the closet and through the drawers, hoping to find a change of clothing that would be decent. Something here had to be better than the torn, green jumpsuit she always wore. It reminded her too much of her home, in all honesty, and she wanted to be rid of it. However, upon reaching the locked door she frowned. She jiggled the doorknob again, harder this time. Oops, too hard! The door knob broke off the door itself, effectively unlocking the room. She cautiously pushed the door forward, still very curious about this entire village. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- OOC:

Blowing on the dust, the wood under the vanity became a lot more visible and something would catch Sai’s eye. Scratched in the wood were the numbers: 16-24-34, the last of the numbers held with it a broken human finger nail embedded within it. Sai probably didn’t notice it before as there was so much dust and a tube of lipstick propped up against it. On the Vanity there was a music box that didn’t have a key in it but otherwise looked relatively untouched by whatever was going on in this town. Inside a cup that held a few make-up brushes there were three pieces of candy. [Sai obtained 3 candy] The inspection of the bed proved to be a little more interesting as Sai sat down on it to test for firmness, there was both a wet squelch and a soft crunching as she pressed down on the mattress. Under the bed something solid bounced and rolled to Sai’s feet. It appeared to be a red marble, one of the bigger ones that one used to knock into the other ones when you played the game. Under the girls pillow there was a diary though the key didn’t seem to be nearby. Looking under the bed, Sai would find nothing of any real interest spare a collection of old fashion magazines and the Shooter marble that fell from when she pushed on the bed. Cockroaches scurried around the bottom of the bed in search of their own meals and food to eat. The most that Sai got out of looking down from the bottom of the bed was a large red marble and a few kindred spirits just trying to survive. [Sai obtained a Red Shooter Marble] The closet where Sai searched for clothes were fairly dusty and some were pretty moth eaten, but there were a few fully intact things that she could use to replace her green jumper. The girls fashion here was pretty girly though there where a few odd pieces of clothing that were more or less intact that she could use that weren’t dresses or overly flowery. At the bottom of her closet there were three shoeboxes: two of them held some rather decent looking shoes and the other held a mummified hand that grasped something loosely within it. It appeared to be a small key, the key was too big for the journal and not the right type for the music box. [small key found] ---------------------------------- The door that had once been locked away now opened to a largely dark room filled with scratch marks all over the interior of the room. A corpse of a younger girl was huddled in the corner with her finger bones warn down damn near to her knuckles lay lifeless and forgotten. The room had nothing inside of it spare this horrific scene, dried blood still staining the walls that caged this desperate soul.

13 • Genin • Konoha Sai Mood: Curious. Present Company: Current Location: Blighted Village ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Spotting the candy, Sai put it in her pouch for later use. Beak-girl said that candy was currency around here, it would come in handy later. The numbers baffled the young girl, however, unsure of what they could mean. Maybe she could ask one of the kids later? She also took the music box, wondering about it as she slipped it into her tool pouch. Sai was pretty grossed out when pushed on the bed and decided quite decisively that she had absolutely no interest in figuring out just what was underneath that bedspread. A red marble was underneath the bed, which Sai also stuffed in her pouch with the journal found beneath the pillow. Sai collected the clothing, satisfied with a thin strapped shirt and shorts that were a little higher than she'd have preferred up her legs. And then she spotted a hand, which creeped her out something fierce. She took the key with shaky fingers, pulling her hand back as quickly as she could muster once the key was secured. "Just what in the hell happened here?"She instantly regretted opening the locked room, her body freezing in horror. A voice in her head started screaming for her to get out, this place was boarded up for a reason. GO GO GO. Without a moment's delay, she tore back down the stairs and out of the house faster than she could have thought possible. And to make sure there wasn't anyone foolish enough to go in there, she grabbed a metal sign from one of the other shops and folded it over and over until it was almost the same size and shape as a thick metal bar. She crammed one end through the wall of the house, bending the new and stronger barricade around the shut door and firmly into the other wall. She stood, catching her breath and still felt that awful tickle in her throat. Then it dawned on her. "Death....this whole street...death." Deciding to head back to that corner that the beaked girl said she'd be near, Sai called out for her. "Excuse me, are you still around? I found candy and I have some questions..."---------------------------------------------------------------------- OOC:
